I've added a new system to the site that will compress our CSS file on the fly, resulting in much faster page loads for nearly everyone. For those of you who don't know, CSS is the ying to HTML's yang - they work in correspondence in order to display the page correctly. However, CSS files are usually full of "comments" (notes by the developer of the code to better organize it) and plain white space, all of which takes longer for a browser to sort through in order to get to the relevant stuff. Our CSS compression removes all of that before sending the CSS file to you, leaving only the relevant code for your browser to sort though. The CSS file is about 75% smaller when compressed, meaning you should notice a significant decrease in load times.

Not only do the pages load faster for me but so do the drop-down menus (I'm using my phone so it usually takes a while to load.) Very nice update!

Glad to hear it! I think I've finally solved the issues with the site's loading speed, so hopefully everyone can use the site on whatever browser they prefer without any further problems.

I didn't realise css loads were that critical - aren't they cached fromthe first page load <link>? I'll have to look at all my /*---*/ comments on my site! I've looked at this site in IE7, Chrome and FF and all af them run really well apart from one small thing. The thread title <div>'s seem to shunt up about 20px, which means that it's having difficulty with this css definition. (only in IE7)-- it might be the margin-top: The other thing I've noticed is that although the html is loading fast, some of the SQL queries do take a second or two to extract from the MySQL database.. not too much of a problem though as there are obviously loads of php functions running in one page load. Apart from that, I love the customisation of this forum engine - great job and well moderated!!

I didn't realise css loads were that critical - aren't they cached fromthe first page load <link>? vBulletin automatically generates a new CSS file every 10 minutes or so in order to account for any changes made in the administrator panel (along with ensuring the CSS file is never named the same thing, for security purposes).
