heres a simple and gate and a simple or gate and a simple nor gate.

AND GATE- make a big hollow rectangle of antimatter and put two peices of dissolve material near the middle. Make a ball with a magnetic witch on it on top the tallest one. Make a magnetic key at the bottom. attach your switched to the dissolve and when both of them disolve then your ball hits the bottom and DING DING DING the magnetic key goes off.

Or gate- again make a rectangle with same material but this time put a long pole of ati matter down the center and disolve on both sides. You now have too very close rectangles like the and gate but with only one disolve material. attach both switches to either disolve and when the ball falls on either it will activate the same switch.

Nor switch- do i really need to explain DONT HOOK YOUR SWITCH TO ANYTHING

Another way to do an AND gate (which will let you do as many AND's as you like)

Hollow rectangle of dark matter. Place separate pieces of dissolve each with a magnetic key inside the dark matter. Put a magnetic switch where the radius encompasses the entire rectange of dark matter, and set the switch to reverse. Hook up whatever you want to each piece of dissolve.

When all the pieces of dissolve have been dissolved, all the keys are gone and the switch fires.

This technique also requires no moving parts at all.

Personally, I tend to avoid using disolve for anything logic based, including permenant switches, as I have a tendency to disolve it by accident in create mode without realising then have to do rewiring sometime later

Personally I use this kind of OR gate...

I make a thin layer square of dark matter, with a mag switch in the centre. Then I make some small, thick layer cardboard rectangles with mag keys attached, and use wobble bolts to fix them in place around the central mag switch . This makes the rectangles act like pinball style "flippers". Finally I hook up any switch with a directional setting to the wobble bolts. Once activated, a "flipper" will rotate 90 degrees to a position that activates the mag switch. The number of flippers I use obviously determines how many OR choices I can include. The highest number of OR options I have included on a single tool so far is 6.

There's probably more economic ways of doing this, but I've found it's always worked for me.

the problem with using dizzolve in an and gate is both conditions dont have to be active at the same time, like when one is met the dissolve will dissapear and will be set no matter what. but its still good and simple if the conditions dont need to be met at the same time2009-05-21 19:07:00

Actually all you have to do is create a small hollow dark matter rectangle, put a block of wood on top with a key on it, and put the switch at the bottom, all the space in between the two keys will be blocks of dissolve material holding it up, preventing it to "set".

Then you just put as much dissolve blocks you need in this space, attach each switch to one, thus you would need to all switches to be activated for it to fully fall down.

This is true, and the other design filled this as well, i suppose i wasnt explaining it that well, say you to open a door, the way you do this is by pulling a chain out of a wall and then racing to press a button before the chain resets. using dissolve would make it so you wouldnt have to rush to push the button. basically you must push the button while the chain is away from the wall, this couldnt be accomplished with dissolve, only pistons or the like2009-05-21 19:22:00

Yeah, these aren't really AND and OR gates in the conventional sense. Useful for simple level progression puzzles but not for anything more generic. Waaaaale, what jhe means is that you can't unset an input in this version, all of the inputs have to be active at some time or another, not all at once.

ungreth, if you actually want a more economical version I have multi-input OR and multi-input ANDs that spank anything else I've seen in the game (1 moving part, regardless of number of inputs). It's probably still on my uploaded "level", and the "AND gate design challenge" thread here has the principles of it described.

A neat little switch I've made, that I thought I could share... (Attached image).

This switch will open a door from remote (e.g. by switch or motion) and can close the door when you have gone through it (by motion). There are also many other ways you can use this switch.

All my AND and OR -gates uses pistons.

The OR-gate I use looks like this (using the same mag-color):

I know alot of people don't like using pistons in their logic. But, I've created a nice little set of logic gates and stuff. AND, OR, NOR, permanent switch, a semi-permanent switch and inverter. And I have made pretty reliable custom stuff for my own level when I needed em. Everything listed above is made in the thin layer and is very easy to hide.

Anyone interested is more than welcome to them, just let me know.
