Settings Reset On My Tools

Archive: 6 posts

Okay, this is starting to get VERY irritating for me and I need to find out why this is happening because it slows down my creating a lot.

Every time I take, let's say a piston for example, and set up the settings I want, I click out of the settings section and find out that all the settings have been reset again.

For example, I took a sensor switch, made it a one-shot, changed it's visibility to "no" changed it's radius a bit, and I hit back. Pressed "play mode" only to find out that the sensor is visible, and none of the settings are there anymore.

Anyone have any idea why this keeps happening?

I've noticed that settings on sensors, switches and connectors seem to disappear when you tweak them immediately after placing them.

Solution: place the sensor, switch or connector. Then back out of your popit until you can use the selector tool (The circle thingie with the tail - I'm at work and don't recall it's exact name) Then select the sensor, switch or connector you want to tweak and then adjust the settings.

That's how I'm getting around it. Seems to happen with cameras and lights sometimes too.

Yes, what you're tweaking after you place the piston isn't the piston that you just set, but the piston you're holding (the one ready to set) so all future pistons you set before backing up will have those settings.
So you have to edit it before placing it, or back up to regular popit tool after placing it.
Also, i'm not sure, but i think if you keep X pressed after placing the Pisto you can tweak it as well.

What silverleon said is right. What you want to do is edit the settings before you place the object, or exit out of the tools bag, and use your cursor to edit the settings after you have placed it. I've had this before, and yes, its rather annoying.2009-05-20 23:57:00

Actually its quite useful! you just have to know how to use it.

lol, well what i was replying to was Whaaaaale's problem of it seeming to edit the object, but you're really editing the object that is about to be placed.

Yes, it is handy to be able to tweak one object instead of a bunch of em (i use it a lot when i use bolts) but its still annoying when you accidentally adjust the next object, not the one you already placed.
