Ricotta brought back a bug...

Archive: 26 posts

Apparently the fixed "Failed to load all players (profiles)" bug that was fixed during CY was brought back in Ricotta, i know as i tried to join V0rtex & Morgana the other day, yet couldn't for this error...
Who knoew a new patch would bring old bugs...
(Maybe some of the useful glitches are makeable again?)

... Was there anything in Ricotta anyway? O_o

So what... it was a patch that did nothing... except bring back old bugs...?

Yeah it's been really bad lately. Infact it's the worst it's ever been. I'm having loads of trouble joining at all and on the rare occasions we can join the lag is horrendous even in the pod. The mic wouldn't work properly and even trying to type messages is laggy and several times the system has crashed completely while i've been writing a message.

It won't load levels either, not even my own when someone is with me. This latest problem has turned the game into a single player experience at the moment as online multiplayer is just impossible now.

I see, so it wasn't just moi.

Altho make sure your internet connection isn't just slow, tho i would believe it if that happened as i too could barely hear other people talking while online...

Weird.. I thought it was just me. I've had the same problem, but thought I was just being unlucky or some new friends had issues on their end.2009-05-19 02:50:00

Well, good news is, it wasn't just you, bad news, it wasn't just you, it was everyone...

Have you tried going into your network settings and setting your MTU to 1492... this seemed to fix the problem for a few people I know, including me. You have to do everything manually, though.2009-05-19 04:56:00

I hope it works for you. Like I said, I've heard a lot of people have success with this. I don't exactly know what MTU is or what it does, but apparently 1492 is the magical number. This fixed mine back in November, as well as maraz_matari's, almost instantly. So... fingers crossed!2009-05-19 14:13:00

I've been having this same problem, even after CY. It isn't my connection, I know that. But I to thank xKappax for that solution, which I will try momentarily.2009-05-19 14:29:00

Hmm... good thought. I will have to check mine as well. ..though I don't remember this happening near as much previous to the patch.

If you are curious.. MTU stands for Maximum Transmission Unit. ..bascially this is setting the largest packet that a device can transmit. 1492 is usually the suggested standard or default so yes, it is the magic number. ..definitely worth a look. I keep forgetting the PS3 isn't just a console game! Doh!!!

Ooh, thanks for letting me know what that means! If 1492 is the standard, you'd think that it would be the default for the ps3, but... apparently it's not.

I was trying to join gruntos yesterday and he was getting it all the time. I read somewhere that the connection problems have to do with a "texture that one player has that the other doesn't"... but i'm not sure if that means DLC, or what. It was fine with yarg, but it does seem Ricotta brought it back, because I've heard many having problems with this.

I have found the Internet Settings page where it says MTU and mine says its on automatic, but where do i go to, to actually change this to 1492 because you can't alter anything on the page where it shows all the settings?

Help would be much appreciated.

Maybe it was just a momentary problem with the lbp servers in certain areas seeing as a bunch of you got it, but aren't getting it any more? I doubt ricotta has just completely screwed everyones online playability O_o...... people would be sending letterbombs to Mm >_>2009-05-20 00:30:00

You have to go into the manual settings to change it. If you're in automatic, you won't be able to change the MTU. ^_^2009-05-20 00:39:00

To clarify a bit on what Kappa said, to set it manually, select "Network Settings". It will ask you if you want a manual or easy setup. Select manual. After that, simply select the default for everything else except the MTU.2009-05-20 01:43:00

Does that mean I have to go to internet connection setup and configure it all over again because that's the only option I can see available.

I've started to do it twice but it gives me two choices ( easy or custom ). When you say choose manual is that the custom setting? I chose easy first two times and it says I have to press the AOSS button on my livebox. I'm not sure I'm doing the right thing there so cancelled it and left it as it was because I don't want to stuff it up altogether.

Is that what I need to do though ?

I haven't experienced any big problems with ricotta yet, but that's probably because I don't really go on online co-op.2009-05-20 21:36:00

Yeah, sorry about that typo. You do indeed pick custom and you do have to reconfigure it. However, the default setting for each option is highlighted, so you simply don't need to change anything EXCEPT the MTU.

I can also confirm this does work.

I have been getting this problem to, as kappa mentioned above. It think its stupid that you have re-enter all the network information to change a few settings. I can't find my network key anywhere, so am locked out of the router

What a silly idea Sony, and what a silly boy I am for misplacing the code

Grant, larry said you can just go into your router settings and you should be able to retrieve your WEP key. If it displays it as all stars, you still should be able to change it.

I don't know how all routers work, but we were able to change ours this way. I know this because we bought ours from WalMart as "new", but it had definitely been used before, because it had a name and login information set. We changed it though.

if anyone has more info on this, please feel free to post it, because I'm not 100 percent certain how all of this stuff works.

Well I just did as suggested. I set it up again and changed the MTU to 1492 ( it was on 1500 ) and joined a friend a few minutes ago but the system just froze completely again and is now off. I'm losing hope completely.

UPDATE Just found another bug I think. I just made a new level ( Arabian Adventure ) and put two doors in it that work on a sensor switch set to 180 degrees and close behind you. I have used these same doors in other levels and they work fine.

Well I tested them after fitting and they worked perfectly. I then changed to play mode and again they worked perfectly. I did some more building and tried again and the 2nd door didn't open at all.

I went into edit mode and tested it and it opened fine again. Changed to play mode and what do you know,it wouldn't open. I tried a new switch but got the same result so I ended up deleting the door altogether.

I finished the level and published and played it a few times and everything worked ok. Then my wife played it and when she got to the first door which had been perfect every time it wouldn't open. I tried and again it wouldn't open so I ended up deleting that door aswell.

It must be a problem with the sensor switches but I have no idea what. Has anyone else had anything similar ?
