My new level is published!! Please check it out. I'd love all of your feedback! There is a secret area within the level, which includes a very rare glitched material (made myself). http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=454&pictureid=3858 http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=454&pictureid=3859 http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=454&pictureid=3860 http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=454&pictureid=3861 http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=454&pictureid=3862 http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=454&pictureid=3863 http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=454&pictureid=3864 | 2009-05-17 06:05:00 Author: DrunkenFist_Lee Posts: 172 |
This level is now published! Check it out! Leave feedback on the level, and I'll check out your stuff! | 2009-05-17 14:59:00 Author: DrunkenFist_Lee Posts: 172 |
Well, just played the level. Honestly, it was hard to see what was going on with all those weird special effects. Also, too many useless prize bubbles... In fact, I didn't finish it because at the blue/red thing, I went to the blue side and couldn't get back because I had to get a skull, and couldn't return because it was hard to see what those... flying things were doing since the special effects kinda made it hard to figure out. | 2009-05-17 15:46:00 Author: RockSauron Posts: 10882 |
Okay, That was AMAZING! I absoloutley loved your level. The gameplay was great and the visuals were really good. It also had a nice little story going with it. The sepical effects only got in the way at the begging where you have to stand on that tiny platform, but after that they just kept getting better. Especially the effect at the end of the level! That's beautiful! How'd you do that!? Once again, It was an amazing level. Can't wait for part 2! 5 stars/Brilliant/Hearted! :blush:Oh and can you do F4F on my newest level? It's in my signature below. Thankss! | 2009-05-17 16:19:00 Author: Noroibito Posts: 211 |
Just tried this out. I think It's great. I thought the strobe effect was really cool, and the rest of the effects are really well done. The jet pack task I really liked because it took a little skill to do it. Only thing, when you put the pieces on all four platforms I really wasn't sure if I was done or not. Could you make an arrow appear when the task is complete? Next thing. when you pull the switch by the strobe part I really didn't know what to do. I went back to the blinking light, but I didn't stop right on it, so I didn't know it was an elevator. Maybe you could make it wider or just a bigger trigger radius so it raises a little sooner? The only other part that was troublesome is the part when you come out behind the gears. I had no idea where I even was. The effect looked great, I just couldn't see a thing. Other than those small gripes I loved the level. Gave 5/* and hearted it. could you do feedback on my level (mountain marathon) thanks. | 2009-05-17 16:21:00 Author: smasher Posts: 641 |
Here's my Feedback: I think Your levels looks really good, i liked how you manipulated your background with lights. The Cave with Mysterious Technology was a bit confusing after grabing the green material and i pulled the switch, i assumed that there was gonna be somekind of door or stairs that would appear, but it was my fault for assuming anyways. The Bit where you had to catch the Blue and Red Keys was pretty cool. And like i said Those Background walls entering the Beasty Lair was really nice. Overall 4 stars and great plus a heart. Id like some feedback on any of My The Count... levels in my sig pls. | 2009-05-17 17:41:00 Author: graygoose Posts: 371 |
Thanks for all the input so far! I tweaked the skinny platform that raises. A lot of people seem to get stuck there. Now it starts raising much quicker. If you just walk past it, you'll see it move. I also added visual cues when the red and blue doors are open. (Prior to the update, it made a sound when each one was unlocked, but I guess it was too subtle.) I'll check out all the F4F levels sometime tonight probably. Thanks! | 2009-05-18 01:06:00 Author: DrunkenFist_Lee Posts: 172 |
Okay, sorry I cannot give much feedback, irl commitments The invisible wall at the start, imo it is better if you can see the obstruction, like a rock? The NPCs are just cut-out sackboys. They don't look THAT bad, but sooo many levels use them. As a player, I know I'd much rather see some of Morgana25 type NPCs, custom made, full of detail. The rocky part to the left of the ladder looks weird. If you want it to look like a quarry, use a different material here to make it look like clay etc. The visuals are very cool in the cave! The "trippy glitch" is pretty ugly and stupid imo I couldn't see the switch! I am sick of that battle music! The one with the opera and orchestra? Imo use the interactive tracks. I'm really not a fan of those glitches The part after the journal. The rocks look like you made them with a small shape tool, and the background doesn't contrast enough, so it can be hard to see the detail. I had to leave there, sorry. 3 stars and a funky tag :S | 2009-05-18 06:17:00 Author: dkjestrup Posts: 672 |

The rocks look like you made them with a small shape tool, and the background doesn't contrast enough, so it can be hard to see the detail. Sorry my level annoyed you, haha.. There is no 'trippy glitch' in the level. That glitch is dead with the newest patch. The glowing balls flying around are all done with emitters. I know it's kind of hard to see, but it's SUPPOSED to be crazy! That was my design! And that's exactly the same reason I use the music that I do.. It is by far the most dramatic music supplied by MM. Believe me, I tried EVERYTHING. It'd be nice if MM released more music, but we're stuck with what we have.. and that fit the best for the hectic atmosphere I was creating in that section. (The rest of the level does use the interactive tracks.) As far as the caves go, I know everybody's TVs are different. Some are naturally darker than others. On the tv I created the level on, it gets dim, but you can always see the level. If other people have issues with the level being too dark, please let me know & I will add more lights. | 2009-05-18 10:03:00 Author: DrunkenFist_Lee Posts: 172 |
Lol, don't feel bad about me not liking it, it just wasn't my type of level :S I meant the part at the start where you swing and everything is blurred. And the lighting on my TV is fine, the part I was talking about was the vertical platforming where you are going into the background, I just thought it was a bit plain. A metal would be cool for the theme, mixing the two. | 2009-05-18 10:13:00 Author: dkjestrup Posts: 672 |

Well, I want to leave it dirt and rock, because I wanted it to look like the player leaves the underground structures, and is now exploring caverns.. Later on, you go back into the mysterious complex. Maybe I'll brighten it up a bit, though. Is that the part you stopped playing? It's too bad, if it is. There's cool stuff afterwards. I definately think the level deserves better than a 3!! If that's the case, then I'm too kind in my rating. I almost never give anything a 3, unless it's a trophy level or something. | 2009-05-18 11:01:00 Author: DrunkenFist_Lee Posts: 172 |
Has anybody found the secret area? It's kind of subtle, but there are clues on what to do. Pay attention to the journal. Specifically the 'code' and the 3 flames.... I said too much. Lots more stuff to see! And more points! | 2009-05-18 12:10:00 Author: DrunkenFist_Lee Posts: 172 |
I played it last night and from what I saw it's a heck of a weird but wonderful level! I didn't get a chance to finish it (got as far as the rooms above the red/blue puzzle and got too sleepy to think through how to actually get out of that section. I'm going to try again tonight. I think the strobe effect is bizzare and unsettling but that's exactly the vibe you're going for so it totally works. I was confused if I would die in the black smoke that's in the area but it didn't seem to kill me so I figured those sorts of areas were ok to run into. Paid the price for that on the top of the red/blue puzzle area. lol. I'll get you some more detailed feedback when I get a chance to finish it. So far I'd rate it 5 stars. EDIT: Ok - finally finished it - really cool! Totally strange level but really nicely done. I didn't make it into the secret room but I've got a really good idea of what to do to get it. I'm going to try it again. I love the colors of the electric light thingies and the swirly green gas thing is neat. One thing - on two player - if only one player makes it to the scoreboard, you can't finish the level as the second player re-spawns and is immediately squished. Not sure if it's the size of the board or if there's something in the way. Might want to put a 1x warning on the level or fix the scoreboard. Still would rate it 5 stars and hearted it! | 2009-05-18 20:22:00 Author: Morgana25 Posts: 5983 |
Lol, I can be harsh with my ratings, I almost gave GruntosUks Woveneye a 4* lol. | 2009-05-19 06:37:00 Author: dkjestrup Posts: 672 |

I knew about it, but I thought I fixed it. I figured I had the ground too close to the scoreboard, so I shaved some of the ground away... but it still does it... hmmm.... I guess I'll just throw in another spawn point in the area, to make sure all the players are still alive. (I was wondering why there were no multiplayer scores, haha...) | 2009-05-19 11:10:00 Author: DrunkenFist_Lee Posts: 172 |
By the way, I noticed the level really hasn't gotten any plays other than people here on central. (Or friends I sent over.) What exactly gets a level onto the cool pages? | 2009-05-19 11:13:00 Author: DrunkenFist_Lee Posts: 172 |
I know you have to republish it quite a bit even at first to keep it on top of the cool pages pile. Every hour or so seems to work for most people for a day or two. Do a search for Cool Pages or publishing practices here on the forum and find CCubbage's thread on how to keep your stuff on Cool Pages as long as you can. It's a great resource and has been proven to work by several members who have done exactly as he recommends. | 2009-05-19 16:40:00 Author: Morgana25 Posts: 5983 |
Replayed this. Thought the fixes were good. I never thought you would change the part with the gears. Just thought I'd point it out. I probably wouldn't change it either. | 2009-05-19 21:42:00 Author: smasher Posts: 641 |
I just added a race, in the secret area... The level actually makes a pretty good race. Nobody's finding the secret area, so I'll just tell you how. Go to the 3 flames at the beginning of the level. Jump into the flames in this order: 3rd, 1st, 2nd. You'll spawn up on the cliffs & there's lots more to do up there!... and now with a race, too! (The journal gave you clues, but maybe it wasn't obvious enough?) | 2009-05-20 15:10:00 Author: DrunkenFist_Lee Posts: 172 |
I had it worked out (last night) but hadn't gone back to actually do it. It's a thinker of a puzzle because it comes BEFORE the clues and I don't think LBP'ers in general think about going back into a level unless there's a sticker at the end of a level telling them to go back and play in super hyper active mode or something. If you want to keep the secret more obscure I'd leave things exactly as they are but if you want more people to find the area you many need to put the references earlier or spell it out at the end of the level so players hit replay while it's fresh in their heads. (Personally I liked working it out but I'm abnormal that way) I'll give it another go tonight. | 2009-05-20 18:31:00 Author: Morgana25 Posts: 5983 |
I thought this level was great. It was chalk full of awesome effects and tricky puzzles. Really cool secret prize too..if you can get it Like most of your stuff DFL, you always leave me asking..how'd he do that? This is a level that doesn't hold your hand on what to do, but makes you figure it out...even if it takes a while. As for the secret area, I am kinda glad you spilled the beans. I don't think I would have ever figured out the clues if you wouldn't have shown me. Bravo on a fantastic job. | 2009-05-20 19:25:00 Author: Jaeyden Posts: 564 |
Morgana25, thanks for playing my level a whole bunch! And Jaeyden, you're awesome! | 2009-05-21 12:49:00 Author: DrunkenFist_Lee Posts: 172 |
Oookay! My husband and I finally got around to playing this without 3,000 interruptions, so I can give proper feedback now. First of all, the look of this level was GREAT. I spent most of the time in the level trying to work out how the heck you did that crazy polygon effect at the beginning that looked like something out of an 80's video. You use some good, glitchy looking effects, and I really like em. I don't have a whole lot of criticisms of this level, but there were a few places where it could stand to have more check points. I can't remember 100 percent off the top of my head where, but I know there were two places where I said "man, I have to walk all the way back now!" lol. That might just be my laziness though. I think one area was right after that lift that looked like an eyeball that you had to stand on that would rise you up, and I think another area was right after those moo'ing metroid looking guys. Also... I got spectacularly stuck in the red section because I went there first. lol. I could not get my sack person out of there no matter what I did, but I just popped myself and went back and did the blue section first. That's not a super big deal. I was probably doing something wrong. One of my favorite things about the level were the noises that the enemies made. I just laughed and laughed at those cow metroid things. And I even liked the noise that those little balls of light made, too. Those jerks killed me a lot, though. Oh, and nice use of the lava material. I'm scared to death to use that material because I've heard that it ruins levels, but if I can get the guts, I"m using it in my new level. It looks wonderful! | 2009-05-31 14:26:00 Author: xkappax Posts: 2569 |
I got spectacularly stuck in the red section because I went there first. lol. I could not get my sack person out of there no matter what I did, but I just popped myself and went back and did the blue section first. You can still go back to the blue section from the red section. You probably weren't standing in the correct layer. You need to be standing in the 3rd layer back to go left there. Otherwise you get caught up on the foreground rocks. I was thinking about adding a checkpiont after the skinny elevator thing. I agree. Thanks for your comments on the sound! I spent a lot of time tweaking the sound in this level, but you're the first to comment on it. | 2009-06-01 12:08:00 Author: DrunkenFist_Lee Posts: 172 |
Thank you for pointing me to your level buddy. I would have played it eventually (because I like your work in general) but now I'm really glad I played it right now. This is your best level yet. It's grabs you and never let you go. The gameplay is simple and fun, the difficulty is perfect. PLEASE DON'T CHANGE THE GEARS PART. You level also came fresh for me because you pulled of some visuals i've never seen before. And the level wasn't just a visual feast, I think you balanced your thing just right between gameplay and eye candy. Really done, we can see your talented and that this level isn't not a 2 hours patwork. I totally love it. 5 stars + Heart! | 2009-06-01 15:40:00 Author: RangerZero Posts: 3901 |
I just played this today. Absolutely incredible... Are you sure you are using the same LBP editor I am? Amazing use of lights and materials creating an incredible adventure. Really cohesive level that totally immerses you. I loved the huge puzzle with the floaty squid things wizzing by. Took me awhile before I figured out what I was supposed to be doing!! I also loved the floaty glowing things and those next ones that spun around.. I was blown away. I just sat there staring at that for awhile. ...then when you return to shoot them.. The sounds were way too funny. I thought it was truly fantastic level and the only thing I could say is to add 1 or 2 more portals here and there. Seemed it was a bit far when I screwed up and got nailed by the huge plasma machine early on in the catacombs. I did get stuck in the red section once I got up to the portal hiding behind the seaweed sticker the first time through. (The one right before the cool green glowing section) I finally got by it not realizing which plane I was on as well as needing to be on. I had played it late last night and my eyes were so gone, I was just stuck there. This morning I was able to slide past that ok, but took a bit... Maybe that is a bit trickier to the clueless (me) at that point than possibly you were hoping. ..maybe not!! Regardless... one amazing level. | 2009-06-01 16:03:00 Author: jwwphotos Posts: 11383 |
Looks really good, bet this took you ages to make.. | 2009-06-01 16:38:00 Author: Sackboy66 Posts: 42 |
Yeah, it took a LONG time.. Originally, it was going to be my tutorial level for my "trippy glitch" I discovered in march (?). I don't know if any of you played my "Trippy Glitch Demo" before the yarg patch, but I had promised everybody that I would make a tutorial for the glitch. I decided to make a real level, showcasing the effects better (than I did in the demo) and include a HIDDEN tutorial within the level. The whole thing was about 99% done (tutorial and everything) when the yarg patch came out and ruined the whole level. I decided to save what I could.. I completely erased the whole tutorial area & turned it into the 'secret' area that nobody ever finds, anyways... All the crazy effects I had going in the level using the glitch had broken.. so I did my best to recreate the look of everything without using the glitch. I spent more time FIXING this level after the patch, than I've spent making some of my other levels. So anyways.... please find the secret area and make it all worth it!! HAHA! | 2009-06-04 11:04:00 Author: DrunkenFist_Lee Posts: 172 |
