My favourite series would definitely have to be Final Fantasy. FACT: I do cosplays of Locke from FFVI I also like the MGS series. Every one of them.

My favourite series are: Metal Gear Solid God of War Jak & Daxter I've played all the games in those series and really liked them all. Games within a series: Morrowind (excellent but takes too much time to get into and movement is too slow). Oblivion (favourite game this gen) Fallout 3 (haven't really played 1 & 2 but 3 is great). Castlevania (finish DX Chronicles 100% on PSP, currently playing through SOTN and AoS) Metroid (played both GBA games, Fusion 100%, Zero Mission - getting there, absolutely fantastic!) Shadow of the Colossus (honestly didn't really like ICO much).

I own ALL GTurismo gamrs.. (Yeh, sad i know..) Seriously tho.. even number one was brilliant... Number 5 Prologue is great and i can't wait for the full version I liked all the limited edition ones.. like.. GT Tokyo - Geneva Concept. but my fave has to be GT4 as it has the best graphics on a ps2.. well, except for black..

I've got to go with Zelda... long running, most consistent (except for the unofficial CD-I), and as much as I love Mario games I'm more partial to the Action-RPG genre Zelda spawned and that is my favorite type of game... which is why I love Symphony of the Night, Legend of Oasis, Alundra, Vagrant Story, Brave Fencer Musashi etc so much. SotN is my favorite game of all time though, which belongs to Castlevania... tough decisions, as I love so many of these.

No one's mentioned the Legacy of Kain (blood omen / soul reaver / defiance) series? You philistines! Amazing all round - Plot / characters / action / puzzles / originality / voice acting / anything else you could want from a game. Yeah, I love Legacy of Kain. Oh and you're missing tekken and command and conquer from the list as well.

How did I forget resident evil? I remember saving up pocket money for quite a while so I could buy 2 on release day. Also, in the OP, how did Ratchet and Clank get put into the list of "classics", the franchise is ~6 years old!

Hmm, of a serie... The Baldur's Gate Saga has to be one of my favourite franchise. Max Payne, Half-Life and GTA are great too.
