World of Yoghurt

Archive: 9 posts

Hi there everyone.

For the last four months we have been working with a primary school to engage and teach creative skills to students.

Our company LearnPlay Foundation worked with Hanyong Theatre Group to create a LBP level based on a play called 'Looking for Yoghurt' see http://www.birmingham-rep.co.uk/even...ng-for-yoghurt

'World of Yoghurt' is now live and it would be great to hear peoples thoughts and comments to help any future projects like this to run better.

Please be kind as it is our first level

This sounds like a very worthwhile project! I'll be sure to check it out the next time I'm on littlebigplanet.

I think you'll find the people here are very kind. I doubt anyone will say a mean thing to you. This isn't gamefaqs, afterall ^_^ ... This community can provide feedback and helpful insight to you about your level as well.

I will probably post again after I've played the level. And, also, welcome to the forums.

Such a lovely idea and the level itself is completely charming. You can imagine it being a childrens book being read aloud - except you're totally a part of it. Everything is simple and kept to a bare minimum but the story pulls it through, along with a lot of charm!

Pros:
+The characters
+The whole morale idea behind it
+The extra "Making of..." level
+Yoghurt looks great!
+The story could be direct from a story book
+Decoration on the materials is brilliant
+The cute cat prints everywhere

Cons:
-It's minimal, very much so. But still charming

Overall I rated it 4 stars and tagged it cute, thanks for sharnig this wonderful project with us

Just got through your level! First off let me say that it's a really clever project you guys have got going over there, and I'd love to see more from you!

Anyways!

Pros:

+ Really well done scenery!
+ Definitely shows what seems to be the story from the play (I've never seen it so I can't judge by comparison...)
+ Some nice puzzles!
+ Very well put together.

Cons:

- One or two parts seemed a bit out of touch with the rest of the story. Mostly the paintinator part.

Bugs:

* You don't really HAVE to do the shape puzzle with the sponge pieces on the ramp. Since there's a sponge on the skateboard, you can simply carry the skateboard over the holes and to the bottom and continue on from there. Don't know how this could be fixed, just saying it's there.

I gave the level 4/5 stars. Keep up the good work, and welcome to LBP Central! ^_^

It's a really cute level! I have to say I did love the story about the cat. Adorable detail adding the paw prints everywhere. Nice platforming in the first part too. The characters are designed well and some of them are really funny.

As a whole there are parts of the level that seem sort of disconnected from the main story. Each one is interesting in it's own way but from a narrative point of view the story gets really confusing and it feels like a couple of different level concepts put together. That could be exactly what you had to do given that you had multiple people putting input in to it so I can understand why.

The only trouble I had was that one of the red triangle sponges broke when I was doing the puzzle bit. If you have any thermometer left - you might want to consider having those pieces emitted so that if one breaks another can be created just in case. You can have the emitter set for a maximum of 1 piece at a time with an infinite lifespan so if one breaks it automatically makes another one.

I rated it 4 stars because it had some cool stuff going on and I like that it's not just a level but a representation of your efforts at fostering creativity in others. Thanks for sharing it!

Thank you everyone for your kind thoughts and constructive feed back to our level. :hero:

There are indeed a few issues that need to be rectified, which should be sorted out in the next week or so.

Morgana25 you hit the nail on the head in terms of fostering creativity, we worked with 15 kids aged between 10 and 11 who had some of the craziest and fantastic ideas that needed to then be translated by us into World of Yoghurt, you really need to see the paperwork for me to justify saying that.

The story does need to have further clarification throughout so that it holds better together. By reflecting on everyone?s feedback it has helped me immensely in trying to identify the cracks in not just the story but the design and playability of the map.

This project has become a bit of a baby for us as it absolutely identifies and proves that games have a place in the classroom. We covered a range of subject areas from literacy to problem solving, creativity and most importantly the ability to teach children how to communicate their ideas. Most of which were very complex and in depth.

I will be making minor alterations to V1.0 today and try to cover most of your ideas as we are presenting this project to the press tomorrow at the theatre.

Thank you everyone for your ideas and contributions

Just so you know, we are a not for profit company working to make a difference in peoples lives using games technologies and continue to do this with new and exciting projects like World of Yoghurt.

And yes I am a fellow Brummy dawesbr
