How do I invite beta testers?
Archive: 6 posts
Getting close to publishing my first level (a journey of heartache and joy - that's not the level name, it was the experience of making it!) so been reading the publishing tips (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=9698&highlight=publish+tips). TheGide makes some good points in his comments, especially about publishing the level locked and then inviting some people to test it, iron any bugs out, avoid "level-griefers" (nice phrase) and then unlock it. My question is - how do I invite people to play my locked level? Then, I guess, my follow-up would be would anyone be kind enough to give it a bash. (If I should advertise for beta testers elsewhere on the site, feel free to grrrr at me and I'll post that bit there). The first question probably sits ok in the "Help" area I hope. | 2009-05-14 21:51:00 Author: Unknown User |
Get Beta testers from the Find other Happy Gadders section of the site. As for the level, publish it, then lock it. You will have a key added to your inventory and you can send this to anyone on your friends list | 2009-05-14 21:54:00 Author: Coxy224 Posts: 2645 |
You can either mail them the key to the locked level or you can make a lock level with a password and leave the key in it for them. Do a search here in the forum for key level or lock level as someome (I forget who - I think it was Vortex) put out a copyable lock/key level you can use. | 2009-05-14 21:56:00 Author: Morgana25 Posts: 5983 |
That helps. Thanks to both!!! One question though - how do you put a password on a level? Just been having a look and can't see anywhere to do it - may be missing something obvious. Had a look on forums for the copyable locked/key level but couldn't find anything - will only take 30secs to make one though so no worries. And thanks for the happy gadder forum tip - I'll be visiting there in about a week...unless a break something else...again... | 2009-05-14 22:13:00 Author: Unknown User |
Doesn't have to be necessarily a PW, you can just make something like grab a sponge that's not too obvious/hidden or place a certain sticker somewhere to open the door/deactivate traps. | 2009-05-14 23:18:00 Author: Silverleon Posts: 6707 |
Ooo, devious. Well, probably not devious but smart. Note to self - become smarter... Thanks dude | 2009-05-15 01:20:00 Author: Unknown User |
