Their is no MGS5....

unless Kojima goes "hey, I lied, heres the new MGS trailer" like he did with MG, MG2, MGS1, and MGS2...

Their isn't much to the story anyway, Snake and Otacon pretty much spend the rest of their lives (well 1-5 years until Snake dies) together enjoying life. "Things to do before you die" style....

Unless of course...

MGS5: Tactical Escaping Terrible Cooking Action. Snake and Otacon sneaking their way through the Nomad avoiding Sunny, and then parachute off MGS3 style....

won't that be a killer PSN game....

Just picked this game up today, spoiler idea would have been good But as i haven't played any of the earlier games in the series I have no idea who or what you are talking about so it shouldn't be that big a deal. I reckon if i drag it out long enough I should just be finishing this when LBP comes out.

Cool looking forward to it, they included the hardcover guide with the game which looks nice so I imagine it will come in handy once I've finished the game the first time.

Raiden for me man, I didnt play MGS 1 and 2 but I heard he was somewhat a wuss in those games but in MGS4 he was the top man:

***SPOILER WARNING***

Raiden was a really self-sacrificing man, so much of his blood was spilled in behalf of antagonist, Snake. He also had his family in the hands of another man, well speaking from his point of view, but yet he did all he could to help and saved Snake countless of times, I was very happy for him though when he found out that his wife still wanted him and that he had a son, Little John, it just goes to show that however sad your past is, there is still light at the end of the tunnel lol. I kind of sound weird now, i'll stop. But Hideo Kojima did a great job!!

That was one of the most emotionally packed endings for me, especially since I know all the stories by heart. Kinda.

Anyway, a sequel wouldn't be good, since there is NOTHING afterwards to tell- all the major loose ends were wrapped up, The Patriots, Liquid, Ocelot and Solidus are all dead, so what story would ther ebe to tell besides making a new one completely up? But, personally, I would love a Metal Gear 1 and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake remake- especially if the kept the Theme of Solid Snake. But yeah, with all that they retconned, they need to keep those up to date- plus it would be awesome to fight Big Boss and regular Gray Fox before he become a Ninja. And in a MineField, no less.

Yeah the game's amazing. I've finished it 5 times at this stage and got Big Boss Emblem and all.

It has an extremely emotional story... first time through... doesn't have nearly the same impact during further playthroughs but I guess that's to be expected. Act IV had me nearly in tears with the nostalgia, I think I'll remember that experience for the rest of my life.

Music is a very important thing in my life and the way music is used in the game is nothing short of superb. From the whistling in Act III and "The Best is Yet to Come" in Act IV to the different songs in the final battle I was kept riveted to my seat and completely impressed throughout the game.

The game isn't perfect, it has some cringe-worthy moments in the story... near the end of Act IV and the middle of Act V come to mind... but it is still the best presented, and the second most emotional and moving stories I've ever experience in a game. The first goes to MGS3 which in my opinions eclipses MGS4 in story but not in gameplay.

Hey pillay, picked up the game this arvo and I'm just about to put the disc in for the first time after reading the manual. Will let you know how I go and once I get a handle on the controls will give you a game in multiplayer to test out the mics in a game situation.

There's gunna be a MGS5 lol. They never said it was the end of MGS, just the end of Solid Snakes' stories.

I do remember Kojima saying MGS4 is the last game in the Metal Gear Series (of course MGS fans take that with some salt since he said the same for MG, MG2, MGS1, and MGS2).

That article however, is good example of how people make hype out of nothing...

"It's kinda sad I won't be able to work in MGS5, but I'm sure whatever Kojima does will be a blockbuster hit"

suddenly "OMG MGS5!!!!"

Don't you think Ryan is sad because their is no MGS5....

It's been hinted for ages that there will be an MGS5. Although this is the last game about Solid Snake, it definitely won't be the last Metal Gear Solid game.

And if you're wondering how it could be Metal Gear Solid without Solid Snake, well Big Boss was never known as Solid anything and still the 3rd game was about him. The Solid isn't a reference to Solid Snake it's a reference to the fact that the game is 3D as opposed to the 2D Metal Gear games.

I'd bet anything that there will be an MGS5... here's hoping you play as the Boss .

Think about it. She was the most amazing, charismatic character. I can't go into details without ruining the MGS3 story but she's the only character I would love to play as other than Snake. Raiden would be a cool offshoot but would be too action packed, if he played the way he is in MGS4. With the Boss you have the CQC, the mother of modern combat (para-phrase) the relationship with Big Boss and her relationship with the rest of the Cobras. We would find out the back stories of some of the most epic and exciting boss battles in the history of gaming. Every time I think about playing as the Boss I get incredibly excited and hungry for more MGS. I really hope Kojima sees her potential as a main character (I'm sure he does from the way he painted her in MGS3 and the way the characters refer to her in MGS4) and makes a game based on her story.

There are more but those are a couple. I'd be extremely surprised if this was the last MGS game, though it probably is the last Solid Snake game.

yea well i was happy seeing ZERO die i hate him but the fight you had with liquid at the end was awesome

and it was good seeing sunny make a new friend and finding out about DREBIN

but when i say mgs5 i don't mean a game i mean it should just tell you about what happens to all the characters like jack, snake, sunny, otagon and so on but like a story or a really big cut scene catch my drift?

but i don't think there will be a mgs5 because to many main character's died

SUNNY FTW

As I said, Kojima can never be relied on his word regarding MGS story.... He said Metal Gear had no sequels then Metal Gear 2, and then he said its over, and voila MGS1, then he said no plans for another....MGS2, but as a long follower of MGS; MGS4 has a feeling of "its over"-ness, since it pretty much tied everything together. Don't get me wrong, as I mentioned before, its not worthy as "the last adventures of solid snake"

Pretty much as a Metal Gear Veteran, I believe the series deserves its rest, and I'm pretty sure Kojima feels that way too...

as for uk.... how could you hate Zero, he was the life of MGS3, and they did explain the endings.... Raiden starts a family and settles down, Campbell fixes things with his own daughter, and Snake and Otacon probably bought a big HDTV, rented movies, went to the beach, and visited Paris for 1-5 years...

I think your abit too obsessed with Sunny. I'm ringing social services.

-----------

Seriously though, I'm another vote for thinking that they will be making a sequel. I was actualy pretty certain they were, because I read an interview with kojima somewhere or something. Isn't that a great reason xD

But nah, he said he was retiring I think and the next guy should do a good job on the sequel hopefuly. Maybe he's just being mysterious and the sequel is actualy the upcoming movie.

Really, MSG without Kojima would be like blasphemy. I'd probably get it anyway, but I really don't think it'd do as well as some any of the other MG games.2008-08-31 14:43:00

I don't think a sequel would work since there is no story to tell afterwards, since Snake is essientally just going to live now. Seeing as how all the bad guys are dead, they can't continue the story without making everything up. Besides, I like the story where Snake finally gets to rest before he dies.

But yeah, a prequel is possible. Using Big Boss or a remake of MG1 and MG2:SS, or just a PSN downloadable title using the MGS4 engine ala R&C:Q4B, featuring some smaller adventures, like rescuing Sunny from the Patriots from Area 51. Yeah, there is still some stuff to tell in that time span, but I think the story should end with all the "bad guys" dieing and Snake just living what he has left in peace.

... While I'm discussing this, I love how Snake is a clone created for war, a weapon, yet it doesn't discuss it much and instead Snake just tries to escape what he was born for, being a tool of destruction, and instead being trying to save the world from Metal Gear. Yeah.

Yeah a sequel wouldn't work unless they introduced a load of new characters.

A prequel would work with the Boss IMO, however since the Shagohod was the first Metal Gear, I'm not sure if it would be possible to make a Metal Gear game based on her story.

Don't you think Ryan is sad because their is no MGS5....

Lol, you mentioned what i'd use as an argument. He always sais it'll be the last game. Then... nope! He even wasn't going to be the main Director/Producer of MGS4 but did in the end because the fans wanted him. And i could link to loads of things saying there may be a metal gear solid 5. One specifically mentioned from Ryan Payton (i think) where he said people are mistaken in thinking it's the end of MGS. It's only the end for Snakes story. And they'd keep 'solid' in the name cause that wasn't to do with 'Solid snake', but the transition to 3D.

In terms of my own opinion, i'm not sure. The story is wrapped up, and doing another one would just seem like a fan service (as was MGS4 in a way). It would probably be a great game, but it isn't needed in the story. If it was based on Raiden rescuing Sunny from the Patriots, i think that would be good. But there's no major threat to the world in that so i'd doubt they'll do it. Other than that, there's no other part of the story that needs covering. And we don't need any remakes, each MG game is great - even the MSX ones.
