Click through to see the challenge. (http://littlebigplanet.us.playstation.com/post/2008/08/LittleBigChallenge-002-%e2%80%93-DIY-LBP-Packaging.aspx) To help you guys out, I've made a template that should make the initial design easier. Just right-click, save as (http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d64/ConfusedCartman/LBPTemplate.png) and open it up in your favorite image editor. Here's my entry into the contest: http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d64/ConfusedCartman/ConfusedCartmansBoxArt-1.png | 2008-08-30 04:11:00 Author: ConfusedCartman Posts: 3729 |

Here's my go, I'll make a couple more and see which one I like the mosthttp://lh6.ggpht.com/josh.the.bowmanator/SLk-7POYygI/AAAAAAAAAUo/L6H6x5Urdi8/LBP_Challenge.jpg?imgmax=512 While I like the depth of field effect on the front sackboy and the planet I think I overdid it a bit on the other ones so we'll just call this a work in progress. | 2008-08-30 13:39:00 Author: Robinhood Posts: 79 |

Good job, but I think you're right on the depth field - it's a little overdone. | 2008-08-30 19:33:00 Author: bbroman Posts: 1374 |
Here is my try. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3201/2815687381_63ddd9d349.jpg?v=0 | 2008-08-30 22:20:00 Author: Unknown User |
they only gave us jpeg's I want png now it's hard to edit Yeah that part is rather annoying, it's not like they couldn't have. I've had to go through and mess with the levels, create a good alpha mask and then return the image to normal and same it as a psd in order for it to look any good. Anyway here's my second attempt building on what I already had. http://lh3.ggpht.com/josh.the.bowmanator/SLtCClqNQJI/AAAAAAAAAV0/b0cwZU1ib3g/LBP_Challenge_02_02.jpg?imgmax=640 | 2008-08-30 22:57:00 Author: Robinhood Posts: 79 |

Cool, but I kind of liked the first one a bit more. | 2008-08-31 18:09:00 Author: bbroman Posts: 1374 |
Yeah, I know what you mean! I was a fan of the red, but I stuck to the classic blue theme in this one ... more tweaks needed, methinks! | 2008-08-31 18:15:00 Author: mrbobbyboy Posts: 304 |
Nono, its brilliant! I love the "Litttle planet big ideas" thing. Great tagline It IS to standard though.. the massively over-used squared paper background and the cut and pasted logo.. etc. I like it alot but if you put it next to the other (Future) submissions it will loose alot of its flavour. No winning with me, is there? XD (too non-standard. *Tries again* Too standard) I just expect soomething mind blowing for some reason. | 2008-09-01 01:31:00 Author: Maltay Posts: 2073 |
You shouldn't have completely rmoved it i liked how it worked with the front sackboy and the planet. it loooked reallly cool like that. Like So? http://lh6.ggpht.com/josh.the.bowmanator/SLtCC0VnVYI/AAAAAAAAAV8/AXKJQRc6YnU/LBP_Challenge_02_03.jpg?imgmax=640 The problem with this idea is that there's a delicate balance amongst the other characters between making them clear enough while also making the depth of field look believable across the whole scene. I tried to achieve this by keeping their faces less blurry than the rest of their bodies. Then there's this one where I've played with the colour tones a bit which I think turned out quite nicely: http://lh5.ggpht.com/josh.the.bowmanator/SLtGtSsoxXI/AAAAAAAAAWI/LuCIvqT3v1Y/LBP_Challenge_02_04.jpg?imgmax=640 By the way I totally forgot to say: Thanks ConfusedCartman for creating the PS3 box template for us to use | 2008-09-01 02:20:00 Author: Robinhood Posts: 79 |
Honestly, Robin, I like the first one much better than the second one. LBP needs the color. | 2008-09-01 03:32:00 Author: bbroman Posts: 1374 |
Honestly, Robin, I like the first one much better than the second one. LBP needs the color. True enough, I think my love of old films and photography influences my work more than is good for it. Okay so this is my 4th option (let me know when you get sick of me posting these ) what if I totally blow your minds and change the background back to how it was. It's pretty bright and colourful but I'm thinking the previous cardboard background adds good contrast to the light/colour of the composition where as this screams "LOOK AT ME I WANT TO BE SEEN!" (which is probably a good thing for box art) http://lh4.ggpht.com/josh.the.bowmanator/SLtpe6Fd_uI/AAAAAAAAAWU/8y9XB6CHrU0/LittleBigChallenge-002-02.jpg?imgmax=640 I just did another variation which has the title taped to the background, who would have thought creating sticky tape was so much fun. http://lh4.ggpht.com/josh.the.bowmanator/SLuJre6HHlI/AAAAAAAAAWk/vd0OsLJ6Qaw/stickyTape.jpg?imgmax=640 | 2008-09-01 03:35:00 Author: Robinhood Posts: 79 |

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3027/2819723787_028374be76_o.jpg Went for a simple yet different style on this one. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3068/2820817740_0400519d8c_o.jpg I'll more than likely redo this one. I just had a great idea. Thanks for the template Cartman. Gracias. When i downloaded the file, my computer dint read it for some reason.grr *Windows Vista* God i hate it, worst computer ever! Are you talking about the .zip file offered on the LBP site? If so, find the file and rename it. Just a .zip to it. Since there are spaces in the filename Vista won't recognize it. | 2008-09-02 17:03:00 Author: docpac Posts: 601 |
