PS2 trade in value?

Archive: 5 posts

How much would a slim, and a fat ps2 be worth? I have one of each, and my gf is going to gamestop with them to get some cash for some blu rays. Anyone know how much they're going for?

EDIT::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Answer: 30 USD

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

DONT EVER TRADE TO GAMESTOP!

Their gonna take your ps2s and turn them out like cheap tricks, for like 80 bucks. That fat ps2 you trade it will likely be bought by an associate who knows its value! A fat working ps2 = HDD and ff11(if people play it anymore) and socom 2 maps!

Honestly if both ps2s work flawlessly I would safely store them and hang on to them for quite a while. Relics you have there friend. A few patient years could double, triple your investment from $30 via ebay, or craigs list.

Edit : People like me have the ps3 that cannot play ps2 games, that have a large collection of ps2 games, find much value in a working ps2. I'd love to finally play through ff12. Alas I have a working ps2 yet no time

Please tell me its not too late.

I think it might be too late. But Halfasack is right; although I don't fall into the category of people that still cherish their PS2 games, there are a lot of people out there that still jones to play them. And also, PS2's are still selling all around the world. I'm sure you could EBAY it for a decent amount or like halfasack hang onto it. But it looks like you were going for quick cash anyway.2009-05-12 17:40:00

I unloaded my PS2 slim and about fifteen games last month for $120.00.

The only way you will get anything decent is to include games.... good games. As for the fat model... good luck, they just aren't desirable. As for the idea of it being a "relic" and magically appreciating in value someday in the distant future... forget about it. There's enough of them sitting around in closets and basements that that will NEVER happen.

I suggest posting your machine and games on a local used web-site.
Good luck with it.

EDIT: Sorry, just noticed it's too late and that you got ripped off by another gaming retailer. Bummer!

Another large reason it will be a long time PS2s gain value is because their still mass manufacturing them, simply because they almost sold just as much ps2s as ps3s in 08.

If they'd stop this garbage of certain PS3 models having ps2 backwards comp. and certain models not, this wouldn't be the case. When I traded in my 360, 2 guitars, and rougly 18 games for a singular ps3 and MGS4, I was NEVER told it wouldnt play my ps2 games, a feature i was counting on. I blame a undertrained employee, and my own ignorance.

If I would have known what model I was getting into, and the downsides (less usb ports, no ps2 backwards comp.) I honestly would have saved some money over time, rather than getting so ripped off. But i've got a 360 for a great deal on ebay, so im cool now.

Yes, MGS4 was worth it. Im a HUGE fanboi of MGS.
