Bad Glitch to Watch out for

Archive: 13 posts

(note: this isnt asking for help its explaining something)

Okay so i was attempting to make a four legged mech which was completely successful btw eventually. After i created it i decided that the upper part of the legs were too long so i thought i would erase a chunk of each leg and re-glue the lower leg/ foot to the stump of the leg. So i erased the bit and tried to move the part of the leg and found that it was still "attached" to the rest of the body. When i selected the "detached part the entire mass was selected eventhough they werent connected by any material or piston or the like. So i un paused it. The Mech just continued walking along its merry way with one of its legs floating in midair! the end of the upper leg piece (where the lower leg was attached via wobble bolt) fell off so the wobble bolt (still fully functional) wasnt attached to anything.

Eventually i fixed the mech by rebuilding the legs i just thought i would put out a warning for this odd occurance.

How odd, not particulary "Bad" glitch though. Just a very minor annoyance. Seems odd though 2009-05-11 19:11:00

This was caused by the fix they made for the glueing. You remember, when you did unglue stuff and everthing was falling appart? That seems to prevent that.

In my opinion it's now worse because i'm often putting stuff together and then in parts again. It's a very bad fix and I think it's more than annoying.

I come accross this every time I use the creator. Basically you can't cut things unless they are separate objects now. It really sucks when you find you have connectors connected to nothing because of it...2009-05-11 19:45:00

Hi redmagus! Could you please email Mm with this glitch you found and explain to them how to recreate it? Just in the hopes that they can fix it before the next patch, it seems many people are having this problem then. I've encountered this problem only a few times, not very sure how it happened. It's fixable, but so so annoying. The email address is hello@mediamolecule.com, and the subject line should read "BUG". :eek:2009-05-11 19:57:00

Surprisingly emailing Mm works

But, yeah, very annoying glitch. Could be useful for making "floating legs" though!

This has happened to me many times, but I find it happens most often when I try to edit pre-captured items laid down from the "my objects" menu. What you could do to salvage the object is replicate it x-amount of times, then cut away from each copy every part except for the individual parts you need. So for example, because of the bug you have a car which you can't separate from the wheels. Make two cars. Cut out everything but the wheels from one copy, then cut away only the wheels from the second copy. Now you have a set of wheels, and a car body which you can move independantly of each other, or glue them back together again if you wish.

Hope that helps.
