If you don't know what a Ballista is, basically it's a siege weapon based off of the Crossbow. I figured I'd try and sketch a blueprint of how one might work in LBP: http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o10/ChazFox/LittleBigBallista.png (I know, it doesn't look very crossbowy) So, the basic idea is that instead of throwing a blunt projectile, the Ballista launches a sharp projectile, which could pierce the wall, if it were to hit the gap between two blocks. That there is a simple idea, involving a powerful spring held back by a catch, which is released by putting pressure on a button. The catch springs back and the spring... well, springs out, hopefully pushing the projectile (Which could easily be a giant pencil) at a high enough speed to do some considerable damage to a SackFort's structure. Of course, if it's built big enough it could also work as a mancannon, launching Sackboys (and Sackgirls) to a higher point on the map.

Cool Idea ^^ but i think that instead of making it come exactly between 2 blocks just make a lot of mall blocks of a material sacks cant grab so they need to activate the balista to progress in a level ^^ Cool design tho

Very nice indeed. I was going to make something similar. I was going to do it a different way though, i didn't think about doing it like that. Very good.

Woah.. better yet.. Have TARGET PRACTICE with Sackpeople. As the OP of this thread, I think it's an awesome idea a Siege Weaponry competition could be cool. We could make a map that has a destroyable castle/tower, then let each player build a siege weapon, and the one who most effectively destroys the tower wins the prize. There might also be extra awards for stuff like "Most entertaining siege weapon" and suchlike.

I love the idea and it's something I've been planning to make from the start. However I think I'll try to make a trebuchet instead. And it just occured to me... do you think people will invent things in LBP that could be useful in real life? And then create a real model, patent it and sell it for loads? There are limitations to the create aspect but I wouldn't be surprised if something like this happened. Just something to think about for all you wannabe millionaires .

I have to agree, each siege weapon has its benefits and drawbacks. Trebuchets are actually quite awesome in my opinion, I just went for a Ballista because it's different and because I love the idea of a giant crossbow terrorising SackPeople's fortresses across LBP. Sure, a giant arrow will be more likely to stick in the wall than knock it down, but if it's a fortress made of Cloth Blocks (or something similarly flammable), the owner will definitely have reason to panic at the sight of a giant flaming arrow hitting their wall and torching their castle. :3
