Those were the days...

Seeing that a new beta phase is about to start (well, in a few weeks or so) I thought it might be nice to revisit the levels of the last beta, the very first. Quite a few of you probably weren't around back then and may thus not know what sort of levels were there, what levels people enjoyed back then.
I just did a quick search to find THE list that was going around at the time. On this list are all, or at least many of the level which were considered good back then. So here you go:

A boy and his cube / ?yogh_wayne?
Asian Heights / ?Plugpin?
Aztec 21 (W.I.P) V.2 / ?Mik2121′
DinoLand / ?Celozia?
Fu Manchu 1.2 / ?razztafarai?
Get off the Choppa? / ?littleownage?
God of War - Demon Skull / ?geosautus?
Green Hill Zone - Act 1 / ?hodgy100′
Green Hill Zone - Act 2 / ?hodgy100′
Green Hill Zone - Act 3 / ?hodgy100′
Heist (Part 1) / ?jiggles?
Heist (Part 2) / ?jiggles?
Jetpack Over The Moon / ?TurboMan?
Jurassic Playground / ?MurderDeathKill7′
LittleBigDonkeyKong / ?Dragnet?
LittleBigPhantasy Part One / ?gevurah22′
LittleBigTemple of Doom / ?walnoj?
LittleBIG Ninja Warrior / ?Burning_Out?
LittleBig Sky Pirates! v. 2.0 / ?slickant?
Little Big Computer / ?upsilandre?
Little Big Journey / ?PsYcHoMaNtYs?
Little Big Colossus .v2 / ?Danielsan88′
Little Big UNCHARTED / ?HeadWind?
Operation Sackeater / ?Syroc?
Phoenix Labyrinth / ?flakari?
Red Rings of Burninating / ?gevurah22′
Rube Goldberg Lives! / ?NoEvilPeople?
Ruins / ?doctorbashir?
Temple of the ****ed / ?Seedhouse?
The Horror Of ?44 / ?Foil?
Welcome to Pleasantville / ?DoctorBo42′
World of Colour! / ?geosautus?

I don't know how many of these levels are still around, but I'm pretty sure that all of them got carried over, so you are still able to play them.

Have fun! : )

The real question is...how many of these authors are still around.

I made two levels in the beta. Starstruck! (still available) and Icebound! (some memory stick somewhere). Those were the days...man I was so enchanted with this game back then.....well I guess I still am.

I distinctly remember loving World of Color, being amazed at the LBComptuter, and simply enjoying the Heist series.2009-05-10 23:35:00

Oh man... the old beta days were some of the most fun I ever had in LBP.

We could play around in our Pods and laugh and do nothing and still have fun.

Those days where indeed fun and I fondly remember playing Little Big UNCHARTED and showing my brother how good the game was. Man those were good days when we were all on the same level and there wernt countless awful levels.

Well we had to make due!

In order to get any other background besides blank and garden, you had to select a template and delete everything from hand...

... Remember how you had to shake the controller to let go of the jetpack?

Yeah... when I first got the REAL LittleBigPlanet, I kept shaking my controller expecting it to come off, finally realizing you had to press Circle now. >_<

Ohhh, the templates in the beta were GLITCHY. In the Metropolis template I'd often find myself falling through the floor or climbing invisible slopes, and then in the Wilderness you couldn't build into the ground...

Oh yeah! In my Jungle Treasure level (first (horrible) beta level), Sackboy ran through the floor of the Temples background... was weird

Me and DarkElite used to draw plans in iScribble as all the other guys who had the beta went to, well, the beta. Marino still sometimes popped it >_<

Then I sent a level idea to IGN for their giveaway. I sent some on my backup email (hey, two shots is better then one :/) a few minutes after they stopped giving away beta keys (they gave the beta keys based on how fast you sent them, so they gave away the first few hundered then went home for the weekend) so I had to wait the entire weekend. I woke up at 5 in the morning, too excited, knowing that it would be there... and so it was. My beta key.

It worked. however, it downloaded for like an hour- by which time my bus was coming. So I had to go to school the entire day KNOWING LBP was on my PS3 :/ =D

You should have seen me shaking my controller violently for hours trying to get the jetpack off.

Ah yes, the infamous 'Ramp' springs to mind. With all the brilliant stuff in the beta, he's obviously full of crap.2009-05-11 06:40:00

and then in the Wilderness you couldn't build into the ground...

LOL - Wilderness you could also get the background and level boundaries to be misaligned so that it looked like you were walking in waste deep snow.
