Missing/Invisible level areas!?!?!

Archive: 11 posts

So I was going back in my older levels that i published to take pictures for the thing that CC is doing and noticed that strange things are afoot. My one level called Sewer Rats (part 2) has areas that the floor and random other materials are missing, but not missing just invisible. I can still run across the invisible material and all the switches and what not still function but you just can't see anything?

Has anyone had this problem before? I cant really blame it on Yarg because I never went into my levels to much to check before Yarg so I have little to compare to but my gut felling is that it is a Yarg issue. When I went into the level on my moon it to had missing areas like the one on the servers but it is random about what places are missing. I would think that its the engine not able to render all the materials but yet when I built the level and play tested it I never had a problem. (weeks maybe even months ago)

Here are some pics I grabbed they maybe hard to see because of lighting. I took them in edit mode so that i could get a wider shoot but its the same in play mode minus the wires obviously.

Yeah I should try that, something tells me its something with the level itself, saying that maybe I should try to copy it to another spot on the moon to see if that helps. Its weird because i have never seen it in any other level I have played.

Thanks for the suggestion I will try that next time I'm on...fingers crossed. I already add something to the description saying it has a weird problem with the level but is still playable.

Perhaps too much stuff in the level?
Is it near over-heating?

So I copied it to a new spot on my moon with no luck and cant select the parts that are invisible to try to change the material. The only way the game lets me select the area is if I use the select tool and drag it around the invisible shapes. But it only selects the outline of the invisible shapes and still makes it so I cant edit it in anyway, though I can copy the invisible shapes and make more invisible shapes other than that I can do nothing.

That might be it but I still have 2 full bars before it overheats, it may have to many complex parts in one area being that when I exit the level I get that warning all the time. Again though I never had this problem before Yarg and I haven't added anything to the level.

hmm is there someway you could delete a small area around the affected part and crush it? then you could insert a fresh block that you've copied all the keys onto2009-05-15 13:17:00

...maybe it is somehow related to the thermometer auto-fill glitch I've read about... Engine thinks it has somehow over-taxed system and therefore drops something? I really have no idea... just blindly spit-balling random invisible thoughts here!2009-05-15 13:58:00

Yeah I have no idea anymore it really is frustrating especially since I can't select any parts, I mean nothing no corner editing tool or anything. I guess since I'm the only one with the glitch I won't be seeing a fix anytime soon so for now I'm just going to leave the level alone and hope it fixes itself at some point.2009-05-15 16:08:00
