More stickers and a cool tool incoming

Archive: 27 posts

Looksy here (http://www.edge-online.com/news/graphic-artists-jump-on-to-littlebigplanet)

Some by Jon Burgerman, plus the following

"Other forthcoming DLC will include a sticker pack based on Judge Dredd comic 2000AD, a History Pack, which will contain a library of visual material that alludes to Greek, Indian, Japanese, Celtic and American Indian architectural styles and characters including Genghis Khan, Beethoven and Mozart, and a Monster Pack, which will contain a library of zombies, bats and other ?meanies? that players can use to create horror-themed levels."

And that's still not all.

There will be a tool that automatically cuts out the stickers. No more fiddling with the corner edit tool. o/

"The pack will work well with a forthcoming downloadable update to the game that will include a new tool that automatically cuts material to the shape of a sticker, allowing players to more easily create in-game objects using stickers."

Now THAT will be an epic win.

I wonder if it means you can put numerous stickers on top of each other and then cut them out as one big shape rather than individually.2009-05-07 20:30:00

Sorry to put a downer on this, but has anyone thought...

We still can't shape our own stickers, so is this tool just a push from MM and sony to make us want their stickers (which they want us to buy)? The whole decorations / stickers thing is just soooo far off the mark in my book. This doesn't promote creativity, it stunts creativity, and puts money in sony's pockets at the same time. And everyone just laps it up.

Give us something new, not shortcuts to stuff we can already do...

I think it was. He suggested costumes, too.

This is new! We can't trim down objects to fit the sticker thats stuck to them with the simple push of a button. At the moment we have to use the corner editing tool - which isn't very quick or easy. I think we be a very handy tool!

If the sticker cutting out tool really happens that would be very helpful.

If it works with our own custom made stickers then that would be AWESOME

lol, If that was so you'd only be able to make rectangles with them.
(Custom stickers are only rectangular remember?)

Holy Carp Batman! That sounds awesome yet not! I have no idea what they mean as we can already make 'meanies', zombies, and bats! It'll probably be something awesome!

Sounds great. I think patches 1.13 (the content?) and 1.14 (Leerdammer? No more lag? Cut-to-sticker?) should be with us soooooooon

I hope this sticker cutting tool works with user-created stickers, and I'm still waiting for the much speculated image import tool.

exactly my point.

This is new!
My point still stands - this does not give anyone the ability to produce anything they couldn't before and it pushes against people generating their own content. This is LAME. Unless they can give us decide to give us custom edges on our own stickers, or a transparency editor or something, this tool is near worthless, especially if they keep up with the shoddy quality of stickers they are peddling at the moment.

I hope they at least make the stickers more clear, I hate having blurry sticker pictures.. while MM's story stickers looked clear as crystal.

Otherwise, awesome tool! Although I would like something else, something is always better then nothing.. I guess.

Wow, you seem to dislike this idea much...
Yes it might not be something players couldn't do, but really, what do you prefer?
a) Trying to make a perfect cut out of various sticker, taking a long time to do so, just to realize that when you're done your figure "doesn't look that good."
or
b) Press X and get a perfect cut-out of any sticker you want no matter the complexity, being able to cut multyple and different stickers in a matter of seconds.
Your choice...

I'm deceived by the tool. It's pretty much only adding some minor convenience.

I would have prefered a tool to actually cut stickers and not the material on wich they are sticked on.

Anyhow, the history and monsters pack will be mine!

I usually place a sticker on a block of cardboard and carve away the pieces I don't need, but MAN this way it's way faster AND preciser!

I really hope that the tool will work with custom stickers too, or what RTM said, more tools for even better stickers!
