New gear in preparation for LBP

Archive: 29 posts

Today I did a bit of shopping in preparation for the release of LBP and picked up the following.

1 x Logitech CordlessVantage Headset for PLAYSTATION 3 (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/gaming/playstation_3/devices/3675&cl=us,en)

1 x Logitech Cordless MediaBoard Pro for PLAYSTATION 3 (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/gaming/playstation_3/devices/3616&cl=us,en)

2 x PLAYSTATION 3 Dual Shock controllers

1 x Playstation Eye

Very happy with the Bluetooth Key Board and Headset but I haven't had a chance to check out the PS Eye or Dual Shock controllers yet. All I need now is LBP and I'll be ready to rock

awesome that is one hell of a purchase in one shot the website I wish I could do it in one shot. one thing i still need perhaps is a headset mic as i guess the mic on the eye isn't good.

I heard that if you use the eye as a mic. you can't hear the voice chat of other people because voice doesn't come out of the speakers the music does only the headset of the mic or BT device is that true i have no idea if it is or isn't.

Not sure I haven't used the Eye yet, but I won't be using the mic in it unless it is to record audio for LBP if thats possible I just setup the Logitech bluetooth headset and it's brilliant in test mode I just want to find someone to test it with properly now.

A month ago I got a PSEye. Also did get a nice headset... Logitech something. So comfy and it sounds GREAT. I'll be getting a third DualShock soon so my g/f and sis can play at the same time with me or whatever. And ummm... Completing my HomeTheater system. :]2008-08-29 14:18:00

Actually you do hear people but from your TV. So you talk into the eye and than hear people through your TV. Try using it through chat and it works wonders. My wife uses to talk to her family in Michigian and we live in Utah and it works great, now in a game it could be a pain because the game will be making sounds and causes problems so not great for gaming purposes but for chatting it works great.

Also about the keyboard, does the mouse part of it work with the PS3, it seems like a nice keyboard.

Hey Darth, yes mate it is made specifically for the PS3, even has the X O Square and Triangle buttons. The mouse pad works really well, it will be interesting to see if it is usable in the editing mode of LBP but I doubt it.

BTW I requested a friend add from you on PSN. Any chance you could add me and help me test the new mic? It works fine in all the test screens but wanted to test it in real world conditions. I'm on PS3 now just wandering between it and the PC.

I would help you with that but right now I am not at home, I am at work and I won't be home for another 8 hours. But sure I would be willing to help you test it.

Mate you wont regret it, I've been mucking about with them all night and they work perfectly, just need someone to test the mic with online, it works perfectly in all the test modes just want to make sure the levels are right at the other end as well.

The PSEYE is a cool bit of kit as well, check out the Aquavita app from the PS Store if you get one.

OH yeah the Aquavita is fun, have you messed with the eyecreate yet? It is also fun, some really cool features on there. It takes some time to get use to it, not great instructions but hey it was created from MM so it is cool.

Just had a quick play with it but as you said not great instructions. I'll have a longer go tomorrow as I want to get up to speed with it as I imagine we will be using it a lot when we start making levels.

Yeah maybe some of us should come up with some instructions on it. Or maybe open a thread on eyecreate so if anyone has questions we can help them out with it. Because it takes time just messing around with it until you get a understanding of it.

Hey just had a chat with QuozL. I have quite a thick Irish accent and he was able to understand me perfectly... very impressed .

The Jabra is very very good. Far better than I thought it would be. I had the mic volume on 4 (in the settings on the PS3) and the ear piece volume (on the earpiece itself) on 3 I think.

I've never used a Bluetooth earpiece before so I have no frame of reference but I was very impressed and have no intention of getting the Logitech headset. I could hear him fine and he could hear me fine. And I always have the mic on the PS Eye if others can't hear me for some reason or there's any background noise.

Thanks for helping me test it out pillaysteven. For Australia to Ireland I reckon the quality was excellent.

Hey Darth Spartan, that's a great idea, I'll have a look around and see if I can find any tips and tricks to post.

Does anyone have both the Jabra headset & the Logitech Bluetooth one?

I would really like to see a quality comparison. & Price also, how much is the Jabra headset?

No idea I couldn't find the Jabra here so got the logitech. If taking between the two is anything to go by the Jabra sounded excellent when chatting to pillaysteven, there was no distortion or break up and that was him in Ireland on the Jabra and me in Australia on the Logitech. I think one of the main differences that I could see is that the Jabra goes in your ear where as the Logitech sits on your ear like a regular padded single headphone, my personal preference is for on your ear as I've never been able to stand the Ipod type in ear buds for more than 30 mins at a time in my ears.

Nice.

I think the best thing to do would test them in a game to see how they sound then.

Yeah during a game would be the best thing. I'm not sure if we have the same games though. I have MGS4 and GTA4 if ya want to test at some point Quozl.

In terms of price, I got the Jabra for ?12.83 GBP new and including delivery on amazon marketplace which is $23.33 USD.

I'm pretty sure this is the one that comes with Warhawk.

Yeah you are right it came with Warhawk, it is okay and all but not perfect and has some issues after a while using it. I have had it go out on me a few times already. But it is good for the price and stuff. I am not planning on getting a new one until Socom.

And yeah for sure Quozl it will be cool to create some support for eyecreate.
