Does anyone else love to cool? I love to cook it's fun just making things and hoping for the best. Some of the best meals i've made or heard other people made say they ignored the recipe for the most part and just improv'd everything. Just wanted to share my likes with you guys. KMILLS OUT!! going to make some stuffed chicken! | 2009-05-05 22:07:00 Author: Frank-the-Bunny Posts: 1246 |
I love coolking! Not just the quick easy stuff, but the proper good stuff (eg. Salmon+pesto&parmesan crust ). However, I came across the most AMAZING recipe recently. "3 minute cake" (I may miss something out here) Apparatus A mug A tablespoon A microwave How to make it Crack an egg into the mug. Add 2 tbsp chocolate powder, 2 tbsp milk, 4 tbsp flour, 2 tbsp sugar, 1 tbsp chocolate spread, whatever chunks you want (fudge chunks etc.), mix THOROUGHLY, and whack in the microwave for 3 minutes. Watch it rise, then eat! IT'S AMAZING! It's actually 3 minute cake! My record time is 4 minutes, 3 seconds what with preparation. My brothers even did this at school - 24 mugs, 24 students, middle of a maths lesson, make-your-own-cake! | 2009-05-05 22:26:00 Author: dawesbr Posts: 3280 |
I enjoy cooking but always follow the recipe... within reason anyway. I make a really good pasta dish... well pasta sauce anyway, pasta is obviously pretty easy to cook. I'll post the recipe later, it's one of the tastiest dishes I've tasted and it's really easy to make. I've never really tried to cook anything complicated or extravagant. Usually just use stir in curries (some of which can be very good, eg. Patak's Jalfrezi) or pasta dishes etc. Ya know... college food . | 2009-05-06 00:01:00 Author: Burrich Posts: 1018 |
I was about to make a thread like this, but then I found this one, so I'll just add to it. Some of the best meals I've had have been meals cooked by myself. This is mostly because I try to limit the amount of salt, not for medical reasons, but because I enjoy actually *tasting* the flavor of the food instead of tasting only salt and spices. It's also because I know exactly how much I want my food cooked. I used to follow recipes to the letter, but have since just started using my instincts for cooking times. Most recipes don't come with instructions for a George Foreman grill anyway, so a good bit of guesswork is involved. But so far it's turned out great. :hero: I love cooking, and it's really not hard when it comes down to it. What's hard is motivating yourself to cook and then clean up the dishes. | 2009-09-22 16:18:00 Author: Gilgamesh Posts: 2536 |
I made roti yesterday! Ok, it's not really hard. :-) I like cooking, but even more I like tasting the stuff I make while cooking. ^.^ | 2009-09-22 16:38:00 Author: Syroc Posts: 3193 |
I tried to make Thai Green Curry from scratch last week. I did'nt know you were supposed to take the lemon grass out, so there was what can only be described as huge chunks of wood floating around in it. And I put WAY to much coconut milk in to. As it boiled down it got stronger and stronger. I binned it, complete waste of an hour lol "3 minute cake" (I may miss something out here) Apparatus A mug A tablespoon A microwave How to make it Crack an egg into the mug. I have made Tortialla Espanola. It is a spanish dish, in case you were wondering. I also like to make many different desserts which I enter in the state fair each year... I make: cookies, breads, cakes, frosting, and I think those are the categories I enter in....I think.... | 2009-09-22 17:17:00 Author: theonlybub Posts: 690 |
Maybe we should have a recipe thread. | 2009-09-22 17:18:00 Author: Syroc Posts: 3193 |

I love to cook. My husband is better at it than me, though. I'm good at making pies, but I'm a very messy cook. Once I even got pumpkin on the ceiling somehow. Not sure how I managed that. | 2009-09-22 22:20:00 Author: xkappax Posts: 2569 |

And then remove all the salt. Though that may have been my hostess xD | 2009-09-23 17:39:00 Author: dawesbr Posts: 3280 |
I like to cook, but I suck at it. I haven't cooked much at all. Than you need to cook more. Since I started living on my own I was more or less forced to cook everyday and I have been getting a little bit better everyday. Experimenting is a lot of fun too, although you can make some truly disgusting food in the process. | 2009-09-25 13:44:00 Author: Syroc Posts: 3193 |

Same here dude, I liked cooking once in a while before but now I'm actually pretty good at it. I was somewhat surprised that half of my meals haven't blown up in my face and actually taste good. Every foreign kitchen is a nice way to experiment, Mexican food mmmmmm!! :arg: | 2009-09-25 13:54:00 Author: Zwollie Posts: 2173 |
I love cooking. I done a cooking course in thailand before so Im pretty mean with a wok now Although I really like cooking anything... My favourite dishes would be.... Morrocan lamb with cous cous Canaloni Thai curries (all of them!) and you can't beat a good roast dinner. | 2009-09-25 14:01:00 Author: wexfordian Posts: 1904 |
i cook once in a while not to frequently but it cuases such mess that i usually just make something i can make realy fast and not have to clean much up. random experimental recipe Curry rice egg rolls: So i made this with what i had sitting around when i was board and hungry and it was really good. -Raw Shrimp: skinned and chopped into very small pieces. -hebrew national hot dogs: Didnt have much shrimp left so i needed more meat and this is what i had (this is probably the only hot dog in the world that i find good). Again chopped up into very small pieces. -White Rice: Preferbaly not freshly cooked, similar to if you made fried rice you want the rice left over from the day before so its more dried and has more room for obsorbtian and wont turn mushy later. -Curry Powder: whatever spiceyness level you enjoy. -Egg Roll Wrappers (menlo brand egg role wrappers are best if you can find them) 1 alright so take your curry powder and make some curry. 2 take you rice and mix with your curry at the perfect proportion. dont want it soupy and dont want the curry suace to seem as if its bearly enough to mix through the rice. 3 mix in the the meat 4 get your egg roll wrappers and fill with mixture and roll it up 5 Deep fry like you would cook a normal eggroll. Use your brain to determine how hot oil should be you dont want the outer skin to cook overly fast that the shrimp in the center doesnt get cooked. Your end result should have a nice golden brown. tip if you make more than you are going to eat dont fry them all, throw the extra in the freezer and can fry them up anytime. This tip applies to any eggroll type dish you make make. | 2009-09-25 17:07:00 Author: deboerdave Posts: 384 |

Though that may have been my hostess xD My Grandma is comes from Spain and she puts in more than that. She puts in vegetables too. Oh! And don't forget the olive oil!! EDIT: I just made cookies last night. XD | 2009-09-25 17:30:00 Author: theonlybub Posts: 690 |

I need to learn how to make miso soup. I love that stuff, but the one kind of akamiso kit that was sold a few years back seems to have vanished off the face of the earth. They apparently sell all of the ingredients required at the local asian district though, so I could check that out. Anyone else tried/made miso soup? | 2009-09-27 18:26:00 Author: Gilgamesh Posts: 2536 |

There are recipes on allrecipes.com for it. I found a recipe with 5 stars, bought all the ingredients and then made it. It was really quite easy! I made taiyaki, too (japanese fish pastries) ... that's quite a bit harder because the fish molds are REALLY hard to find! Man. Now I wanna make taiyaki and miso soup! Thanks a lot! | 2009-09-28 13:29:00 Author: xkappax Posts: 2569 |
[..]Man. Now I wanna make taiyaki and miso soup! Thanks a lot! Haha, soz. That's a pretty good link though, I'll be sure to try out that recipe (and adjust it to my liking ). Miso soup is about the only dish where I can tolerate eating tofu. I tend to dislike tofu in everything else. | 2009-09-28 14:00:00 Author: Gilgamesh Posts: 2536 |
