New material! (Well, maybe)

Archive: 48 posts

Right, starting my presence on this site with a useful post:

I'm not sure if guys/gals already know it (the search function didn't give me the right results), but there is an extra material hidden in the Islands template.

It's a sponge material. Looks quite good in garden themed levels/areas.

To get you just need to fly a bit to the right side of the level, select the material and save it to your pop-it.

PS: Is this the right section for discoveries?

Yes, I have 100% and the way I described is the only way to get it, unless I make some of my levels copyable. 2009-05-05 13:48:00

How do you add that material so it's in your material list? Do you absolutely need to capture it like and object?

You have to save it has an object. You can later change the shape with corner edit tool or just shave of parts with another object. It won't be added to your listed of materials, but you can heart and that way have easy access to it.2009-05-05 17:08:00

That's really cool - I'll have to check it out. Can't believe I didn't notice that either.

Thanks for the heads up!

I saw this in a level a while ago, but yeh, I kinda forgot. So thanks!

Dude, Syroc? As in the Syroc? Your levels PWN! Is ToS2 out yet?
BTW, I found your excellent levels from a video I saw a few months ago-I'm just trying to find it but can't . If I remember correctly it was a review.

Wow, that left me a bit speechless, 49DRA. Didn't think my levels were known enough to get me recognised. Glad you liked them : )

Still working on ToS2. The fact that thin starting gates in some cases have stopped working hampered the progress a bit, but it also gave me time to rethink some parts of the level. Good news is that I re-did the boss last weekend and everything is now working, so I can probably publish it later this week or next week, if I'm not too busy.

The video you have seen might have been of my level Japanese Garden. That was featured in the MM picks a while ago, so you might have seen it there. Other than that there is only one beta level that was featured on a website and there is a video of ToS1 on the Workshop.

I'm sure some people have seen it before, but maybe they didn't post there findings on the internet or the discovery got drowned in heart for heart requests.2009-05-05 21:19:00

Nice, wonder if it's on an upcoming update/pack, they never planned on releasing it, or they just forgot to add it...2009-05-05 22:29:00

How do you capture something in play mode? I never knew you could. I thought you could only do that in create/edit mode.

It's in creation mode that you're going to capture the level. When you create a new level you can decide that it's empty or to use a template. Chose the garden template and it's going to be there available to you somewhere. I cannot indicate you where in the template though. You will need to look around.

I don't quite have the game 100% unlocked (98% i think), but I've found THREE materials in the template levels that I don't otherwise have.

There's the one you show. I found another sponge material in the level with the giraffes (I think). The third was a metal (or rock?) which looked a lot like one of the normal materials, but had a variation in color. Don't remember which template I found the 3rd on.

Sorry this is all so vague, haha.. If you can figure out what I'm talking about & have 100% unlocked, please let me know if all 3 are rare.

The video was ToS1, dunno if it was on the workshop, I found it on YouTube. There was someone talking over it, I'm pretty sure it was a review.

I'm pretty sure that's the same guy who did the video.

Strange.

Media Molecule probably meant to take it out of the game, so they did- but left it in the template since they were made earlier, hmm?

does anyone feel like making a list of all these materials with images? ^^

i thought i'd found all of the materials in story mode, but i'm seeing loads in the temples theme that i can't find in my pop-it
i'm not sure whether i just can't find them, i haven't collected them, or they aren't available in story mode

I've checked all of the other templates, and, as far as I can tell, I haven't seen any other materials that are different such as this one. I also have unlocked all the materials, so I've compared them to the ones in my Pop-It.2009-05-14 22:12:00

There is also a 'sort of' different one in the Temples template.

It's basically the same as the material you get from story mode except for the edge colour. The one we have automatically has a gold edge around it but the one you can capture from the template doesn't.

I haven't captured that one myself but someone may find it useful if they want to use that material but don't want the gold edge on it.

You have to be careful when capturing though as I noticed after I got the green material. I detached it and captured it but when I placed it in a blank level it put a load of the template architecture in the level quite a way off screen which I didn't see until I started flying around. It must have captured that at the same time although it didn't show up in the captured object as far as I could see.

It's not available in story mode

It's in islands template, at the part where (in story mode) you float down hanging onto a balloon. It's the green ground there, about halfway? through the level.
