New Reputation Images

Archive: 62 posts

Thanks to Killian, we have new reputation gems in place of the old green ones. They are renders of the famed LittleBigPlanet crown. If you can't see them, clear your browser's cache or do a hard refresh (ctrl-F5) when viewing a page that contains the rep gems (such as this page). Enjoy. 2009-05-02 04:34:00

The PS3 browser has it's own cache. To clear it, just follow these steps (http://www.technipages.com/ps3-delete-browser-cookies-and-cache.html).

I don't think there was anything wrong really, its just that these ones are better fitted to LBP's theme... and stuff.

Makes it more personalized.

Yeah, I'll look into adding negative rep pips and neutral pips, along with the purple one you mentioned. Also, we know they don't apply to the non-default themes - I'm not doing big improvements on those as they're outdated.
well, i don't like it... sorry The green gems where nice 'n simple :/ They also didn't match the theme at all - this way, we have something more unique than standard. Still, I'm debating whether or not to use a grey-blue/blue pip instead of the crown - that would also match the theme and it would be simpler than the crown, but it's not as creative or unique as the crown is. I'm not sure, what do you guys think?

I think a blue pip would be easier to use than crowns as they are more simple. The crowns are a bit harder to tell who has more rep as they do not get lighter as the green ones did, but I think they are more unique aswell so I am torn between 2 options.

Every, I think, 50 times someone reps you, you gain a "pip". Each "pip" is displayed beneath your avatar. It used to be a green block, now it's a crown.2009-05-04 21:18:00

Well, actually, it's "points". You can check to see how many rep points you have in your user cp, or check anyone's rep points in the littlebigexperience leaderboards.

The more rep points you have, the greater your rep power. I think that for every 6 months you are a member, your rep power increases by one, for every 50 rep you have it increases by one, ect. this rep power determines how much rep someone receives when you are repped. So the higher your rep, the more rep points you give out- so when I rep someone, it is probably more then, say, some new guy... which reminds me, I think when they first register they need to be have one more rep point to give out rep... or something.

However, "thanks" is a constant. Everytime you thank someone, you ALWAYS give them 3 rep no matter how much rep you have.

There's some rep chart of how much rep you need to advance... You need like 100 to go to 2 crowns, 200 to go further, ect. Altogether you can have 10.

You can also have negative rep, but panzer was the only guy here to ever get a negative rep thing... It's supposed to be a red gen, but I dunno if they made one for negative rep...

Which reminds me. CC, perhaps we can get rid of negative repping? I think we still have it, and it serves no point other then to give people the possibility of bearing grudges... it's never used, but yeah.

I like the crowns as they fit with the lbp theme and lbp is a crative game so it's better we have something creative other than just some square blocks.

There you go.... that's my opinion

I can see them now! (along with the other new stuff that's been done to the site)
lol, it turnes out that none of the things you add appear in the "LBP Glassy" style, and guess what style i've been using...
All the new stff only seems to appear in the "Default Style" just like the resizing of the top image and the new status stuff that appear under the user's avatar.

Funnily enough i mentioned to CC the other day about the other theme. I'm amazed some people still use it! The standard is a lot nicer

In terms of the rep gems.... weren't they green pips? not blue? or is that now just to suit the theme?
In terms of Crown or Gem... it's a tough choice. The crown is almost too detailed to be at that size... but it's nice having it as it's customised. Hmmm decisions decisions....

We do the best we can, but the site isn't intended to be browsed on a PS3, so we're not actively fixing issues with it. We support all standards-compliant browsers, plus Internet Explorer because of it's popularity. Other than that, it's "use at your own risk".

I made up a blue pip and added it in to see what it would look like - to be honest, I have to agree with everyone else. It matches the style more but it's not as creative or LittleBigPlanet-related. I'm going to look into reducing the number of rep images we get so I can boost the size of the crowns, but not tonight - probably some time tomorrow.2009-05-07 06:06:00

Yeah, i think that's why i was using the LBP Glassy style in the first place, as it was the best for PS3 Browser use.

That's your mistake, not ours. You've yet to clear out your browser's cache - IE7 doesn't auto-detect changes in images, so it won't load the new versions unless you manually clean it out.
