Aren't your crystal forest levels quite popular? If I'm thinking of the right ones that is..2009-04-30 17:15:00

I think that the Crystal Forest levels are wonderful. Now, granted, we all know I have a bias to anything that has "crystal" in the title of it, but I really enjoyed them. I really liked how you made the crystals yourself, too. I used a cop out in my crystal cave level and just used the crystal earrings.

Anyway, these are nice levels. I'd recommend anyone giving them a go if you like fantasy sort of stuff!

you should really post pictures! your levels are quite beautiful.

The first one had some spelling mistakes (i think its "fairies", though i could be wrong). I thought the one telling you to jump was a little odd, as well.

On the second, at the end where you swing across an electified pool, the back plane doesnt have anything in it. So you can fall straight through to the floor there.

On the third, okay, that first rolling wheel is REALLY cool. So is that hanging treasure box on the mountain. You might want to tweak the mist bridge's cable to invisible now. Pardon me for being silly, but your bouncy box needs a boing noise Cute Rube Golberg device. you might want to put a door on the left side of that gap- i died accidentally when pushing the snowball across, and had to cross again D: OMG making that tree bloom was awesome! Reminds me of Okami You might want to edit your boss setup, the door is in a position where you can spawn and die, not very nice. You could use a door right after the boss, i had to restart BC of a fluke death and lack of lives from the boss. Again, grammar error on the one about destroying eggs... Not sure why the exp system is there... but whatever

Overall, BEAUTIFUL levels, though the first two were a little short. 4 stars for all three, a heart for the last.

First of all, I'd like to say that the artwork was beautiful. Top marks on that front.

Secondly... The grammar/spelling mistakes. I really hate being a grammar-so&so, I really do. But as you were aiming for a conversation-heavy RPG-style thang, it really stood out and spoiled the atmosphere I'm afraid. And I even saw a "u" instead of a "you" in there... Erk.

First level:
Didn't find many bugs in this part, apart from the bit where you jump down into a room, after the first water-spray-effect bridge. Managed to die from that fall, unsure how... Maybe some polygons need neatening down there?

And the snake-platformer area after the fairy. That needs a better camera angle, as running over the bridge (which requires timing, due to it's sections flipping over) into a snake obstacle which can't be seen until it's too late... Can be infuriating.

Overall: 4/5 stars.

Second level:

The first fire obstacle. Not everyone would realise that you can get over that by just running across, and try to jump instead (with fatal consequences). This could annoy and make people quit the level before getting past the first obstacle.

Really sorry to say it, but those snakes soon after are cheap kills. There needs to be more of a warning that those are there unless you are aiming for a "I want to be that guy" feel.

The waterfall effect is brilliant, the piston-glass trick was put to good effect here. Just the white-foam graphic used to make the water look like it's falling tends to bug out and flicker in the middle before every spawn down the waterfall. Not sure how it works, so I can't give advice on how to fix it, sorry.

The electric-swing jump in the forest. Someone mentioned this before, but there's no back-layer to it. Had to restart the level when I fell down there myself. Needs fixing fast.

Aaand the glass slide. Didn't work that well, but at least you could climb up the jagged rocks, so not all bad.

Overall: 4/5 stars.

Third level:

The speeding ring ride was brilliant. Loved it. Can't say much more there.

You outdid yourself on the lighting on this part... The forest, the green lights on the cave-platforming bit just after... Was great visually.

Only really bad thing here was after the boss. The boss itself was nice and challenging, quite a fun battle! (although please make it so you can't be killed just as you spawn in the future) Just please do not have a perilous jump after the boss, when you likely have little-to-no lives left. Quitted the level there out of frustration, I'm sorry.

Overall: 4/5 stars.

Really hope you don't feel like I'm trying to be nasty towards your levels. They were beautiful, and quite fun to play. Just needs to have a few minor adjustments so people don't have a little bit of a bad taste in their mouth when they finish them.

4/5 stars, all hearted.

Oh my! I played your first level and as soon as I stepped out of the beautifully designed house my eyes began to burn with the awesomeness! Simply put, this level is beautiful and everyone should play it just to get that visual WOAH! factor.

Pros:
+Great stoyline
+Beautifully designed characters
+Fantastic landscapes
+Nicely positioned camera booths
+Quality gameplay to go along with the visuals
+Lots of secrets to find
+Plenty of points that aren't so obvious

Cons:
-Snake gas generally kills you even when the snakes are down
-Wait between speech bubbles is sometimes too long

Ok, I had some minor niggles with the speech bubbles but it all made up for it with the visuals. All I can say is people should play this to see it. You wouldn't beleive you could fit in so much detail to a level!
5 stars and hearted, I expect parts 2 and 3 are also as good - will check them out later.

AWESOME VISUALS! These are the type of visuals where, if your girlfriend plays LBP, you will get a surprise tonight, or if you are a girl, your boyfriend buys you a new car. BEAUTIFUL!!

Playing through, the gameplay is average, but that doesn't matter, I haven't picked up my jaw.... The dialogue is abysmal. It is seriously below par. Grammar, spelling etc need a major improvement. I'd also play "Maraz's Talking Tool" by "Maraz_Matari", as it makes dialogue much easier to implement.

That last sliding section is ugly. Too much rough stone bricks is a bad idea. Have you played "criffer"s levels?

I thought the visuals of part one teetered off on that "master fairy" thing, where he/she tells you to find other fairys. They went from "OMG BEAUTIFUL AWESOME!!!111!!!111!!" to "Meh, alright."

i know the level's graphics go down in quality but thats only because of the thermometer getting to full... it's a shame really..2009-05-02 17:37:00

Then why didn't you end it there and make another level? I will never have any problem in somebody who choses quality>quantity2009-05-03 02:03:00

how the heck to did you fit all that into one level without the thermometer bursting in your face??
i'd only be nitpicking if i said something negative about the level, it looks fantastic.
you got yourself yet another level and author heart....
(if you don't close the dialogue box quickly enough, can an unread one disappear?)

I played this the other day and agree with what most others have said.

- It looks great. It has a magical look about it that is rather pleasing on the eye.
- That section after the fairy is unfair. You have to time your run from the start, but that means you have to take into account stuff you cannot see.
- The grammar at the start needs fixing.

I did like it though, you got 5 stars from me.

started to delete and change a few small parts now and i'm using the extra space to make the last parts better. . . i will keep the quality over quantity in mind in my futer levels... cheers for the feedback everyone will get to work on all that needs fixing ASAP... take care.

I thoroughly enjoyed playing through this level, but it was spoiled by the constant grammatical issues within.

However, due to the fantastic gameplay, I gave it five stars.

Just played this, it's great!

Bearing in mind I'm tired I did get stuck on the bit with the snakes just after the waterfall but this is the first level I've given up on but wanted to go back to to have another go at (I havn't been playing all that long either I'm sure there must be others). I will be having another go at this and looking forward to more!

I played this the other night. I really like your design/style, it gives the level a very magical feel. I like the way you did the waterfalls and the secret paths. Also a good use of lighting throughout. I will play your other levels when I get the chance.2009-05-20 10:53:00

Played this the other day, and I loved it. Thought everything was really nicely done. Great aesthetics, and gameplay to match. Good work!!!
