Global Lighting/2-way/3-way switches
Archive: 7 posts
So i'm working on a fireworks launcher that when you pull the 2way switch it turns dark, and launches the firework. Then when you switch it back it turns light again. Is that possible? I already read the thread on using the Global Lighting Tool and it didn't help me Any help appreciated!!! | 2009-04-29 20:44:00 Author: Cody_754 Posts: 5 |
I can explain in more detail but it will take me a little while. Please check back later. | 2009-04-29 21:35:00 Author: SawronZXZ Posts: 463 |

I already read the thread on using the Global Lighting Tool and it didn't help me Any help appreciated!!! I know that can be done but it requires a slightly more complicated switch array. Have the 3-way connected to two seperate off-screen switches where those switches control the global lighting (1 for dark - 1 for light). I would be surprised if this doesn't work. | 2009-04-29 21:45:00 Author: mindphaser74 Posts: 349 |
So, wait, is it two way or three way? For a two way, off-screen, have two piston-switches, one set to inverted, each with a key on. Then connect the switch set to direction to both pistons, and have each key on the piston activate either the dark or light GLT, and it should work. | 2009-04-29 21:50:00 Author: dawesbr Posts: 3280 |
Yes, this is possible, you just need to route it through another switch. First, make a little box of dark matter, then hollow it out. Put a block of material within the hollow portion near one of the ends of the dark matter. Attatch a piston, so the block moves from one end to the other, then make it stiff and minimum length 0. Put a magnetic key on the block, and two key switches of the same color at the farthest place the block will go. You then need to set the 2/3 way switch to directional, then connect it to the piston. Basically, you're converting your directional switch into a on/off switch, as when you change the direction (of the piston) it will turn the key switches on and off. By attatching the two switches to two different global lighting tools, and making one of the switches inverted, whenever you pull that lever it will switch between the two different settings. heres a picture http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/ff297/Burnvictim42/LBP/APhoto-2.jpg hope it helps | 2009-04-29 21:50:00 Author: Burnvictim42 Posts: 3322 |
Thanks everyone for the tips, especially Burnvictim42!! I ended up using a more simple solution although Burnvictim42's idea worked, it made my head hurt lol. I ended up just having two buttons, one button activates light, and the other is dark. Lol and the 2-way switch for the piston on the launcher. You guys should check out the level, it's only a test run. Search "Outstanding Fireworks!" by CoI7y ,thanks everyone!!! | 2009-04-29 22:05:00 Author: Cody_754 Posts: 5 |
Well I made a solution but I guess you don't need it anymore. And I worked hard on it too...Now I'm mad...Don't make me mad...or else... http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3588/3487254832_0044927ce9.jpg?v=0 | 2009-04-29 22:26:00 Author: SawronZXZ Posts: 463 |
