'Traffic JAM!' <newest THEME!

Hi! I recently published a 'work-in-progress' level... and I'd like to receive some feedback on the concept and idea. Also, just for future purposes, maybe some concerns or extra inputs you may have- would be a GREAT help!

(I will end up posting final version later and a video will be in the 'Level Showcase' forum, but help would seem more prevalent here).

Just played it twice. Surprised i made my way through either time >.> You weren't kidding when you said it was "difficult".

BIG disclaimer: Sorry if any of this feels/seems/is harsh, i am not the be all/end all for LBP (darn that'd be kinda cool )

Not a bad concept, though i'm not sure why its called "Traffic Jam" when its based off of frogger... anywho, its unique (yes, i actually searched for "frogger") and could be entertaining... but it definitely needs some work.


First of all, you DESPERATELY need to get rid of that piece of (i'm guessing) rubber on top of the car. I know you don't want the players jumping over the cars and all that- but you have them jumping on top of the cars to get to the next part, so you've already conceded that they're going to be on top. By leaving that rubber there, you're going to infuriate a lot of people who look at the car and go "theres nothing there! why can't i jump on!". Removing the rubber will also ease the difficulty a LOT. If you still don't want them jumping on top- devise another method of getting to the next scoreboard (like keeping it all one continuous road with little breaks), and make the cars larger.

Second, you're going to have to ease the difficulty. This is a remake of a classic arcade game, right? Well last time i checked, frogger wasn't an infinitely respawning demi-god made frog, he had lives. The fact that you NEED an infinite lives checkpoint, when you're echoing a game based on token lives means that its a little too difficult. I'm not entirely sure how you're going to do this... but it needs to be done. At your current stage, you're going to get a lot of bad rep for the difficulty.

Third, it needs background. But thats excusable, this is just the beginning Without background, the miles tend to blend... 1 section of cardboard background is as interesting as the other- why am i trying to get to the end again? Its not the scenery (yet). I also think you should put up little "road signs". One of your challenges mentions how its 4 miles straight on... when i'm at 2 miles, how do i know? Putting up cute little road signs that say its 2 miles to ___ would make me know "okay, i got further this time".

You might also want to try varying the challenge by adding different ways to dodge cars. And add camera zones so its easier to see oncoming cars.

Its not a bad idea and people seem to like remakes of old games (just HOW many SMB levels are there? o.o) so it has some real potential... but like i said, at this point it needs a bit of work before it hits the top of the "cool levels" page.
