Header Images Resized

Archive: 10 posts

I've dropped the size of the header images 85% of their original size for two reasons: to reduce page load time, and to increase space on the page. The addition of ads took away some of the screen real estate, so I made the header images slightly smaller to compensate. Note: Some images may still appear large - this is due to your browser cache, not our servers. You may need to clear your browser cache for the changes to be reflected on your end.2009-04-29 03:40:00

I know at one point you had people submit designs for the headers and you stopped when you had enough of them. Any thoughts on doing that again to sort of refresh the look of lBPC?2009-04-30 00:25:00

I've had that on my mind for quite a while now, actually - I've got a pretty neat idea if it pans out right. Let me get some stuff set up and see what I can do.

This is actually a really good addition, as on my phone the header was always just too big, and the text fit dead on.2009-04-30 06:11:00

Good plan.

I'm browsing in the most common 1024x768 and the header still takes up a significant whack of the fold.

What I have noticed is that there is still a could of br/'s or nbsp;'s just above the header ads that take up valuable space. (or is this IE7's way of interpreting the css again???)

Please forgive me if this is all gobbledegook to anyone!!

Oooh - just reloaded and the ad has jumped over the header - hmmmm.

Used to happen to me with IE7, after I switched to Mozilla everything worked fine.

LOL - I use Firefox most of the time now but look at your google analytics figures - about 70% of browsers are still, yes STILL using IE, despite its flaws!

Switch your style to "Default Style (lite)". It doesn't have any of the code that causes this issue with old browsers, and it loads slightly faster to boot. You have to sacrifice the circulating header images for a static one, but that's not too bad of a sacrifice for a consistent page.
