Extracting Tweakable Lasers in Cornish Yarg, Creating a Laser Wave

Archive: 30 posts

Hey there!

In Cornish Yarg, some of you may have noticed that EastwoodAndy's method of extracting lasers from the Super Sentry Turret broke, as in this update the turret is now treated as one cohesive object no matter how many pieces you dissolve.

You can get around that with the tips described in my newest tutorial!

6oXjczfW700

This stuff is applicable to most of the toys you collect in the game, so if you want to take them apart to see how they're built, you can.

And, as a bonus, you can learn how to create a sweet laser wave effect. :-)

Considering that Media Molecule is actively patching the bugs that people are exploiting in their levels (for example, the infamous Anti-Color glitch), I'm not sure how long this hack will work! So get to breaking apart objects while you still can!

I already had the tweak-able laser and have done something similar to your wave affect in a level of mine, but I had to say how incredibly professional your tutorial is! If you don't do something like this for a living....you should!

Great stuff!

Nice info, and nice editing. (I can't stand when people post videos without editing down the really monotonous parts...)

So why is it that the switch must be left connected? Is it not possible to attach a new switch if you remove the old one?

Yeah, technically you can't attach a switch to the laser in the Super Sentry Turret either, so when you detach its packaged switch, all your effort is lost. This means that you can't hook up a Proximity Switch or a button either.

Like I said, I hope MM makes these editable for the masses.

If you don't want to bother going through the hastle yourself, I know one of our members here named Thegide has a tutorial level and he actually gives a tweakable laser as a prize at the end. Good to know there is a work-around though. 2009-05-06 00:51:00

Hey yonisyuumei,
I don't know if you mind or not, but I just used the laser that you gave as a prize, and ripped the laser from that one, lol. It was much easier than dealing with MM's super sentry turret's 'shove technique,' but thanks for showing me how to 'smash' the unnecessary pieces.

I'm going to play the "Virus Survival" level now. That was a very well done, well articulated, and well demonstrated tutorial. I never though to rotate objects at 45 degree angles with a right triangle, and that laser effect was absolutely stunning. With some simple math and a whole load of lasers and pistons, some ingenious effects could be created. Great job.2009-06-21 15:16:00

I watched that.
Sadly I don't have the MGS Pack. :C
I may get it, unless it's possible to buy with a PSN Card.

Also, cool tutorial. I have problems on the Sync part.

They did release a laser, just not a tweakable one. And @ yonisyuumei, brilliant tutorial! I might use that wave laser in one of my levels!

But you can't zoom out that far in Play Mode anyway, so it really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things.

Go to your popit, push square on any object, scroll through the options and pick 'theme'. Scroll down to the MGS pack and then look for the laser. I had trouble finding it to for some reason.

Thank you! that was boss!
The crush technique, and using the 45 triangle to line up objects..I was like "d'oh!" I do that all the time on the drafting table, why didn't it occur to me to do it in create?!

Great vid!
