My 80GB PS3 just broke today (I think). It turned itself off and flashed a blinking red light. I tried to turn it back on a couple minutes later and it froze at start up, and when I turned it back off a yellow light popped up followed by the same blinking red light. I'm sad. The bad thing is that I got it last christmas (2007) so it's off its warranty. Anyone know what I should do?

Actually I don't mind it that much. As long as they repair it for free (or for like 100 dollars or something) it'll be okay, but if they tell me to just buy a new one I'll be ******. This also gives me more time to play my wii. and Pokemans.

I think that the YLOD means harddrive failure, and I wouldn't count on getting it fixed for free, it will probably cost 161$

Sony better give me a longer warranty because of this. This is ridiculous. A 600 dollar piece of hardware should last way longer than a year. My 200 dollar PS2 has lasted like, 8 years so far. Oh, and within these long 3 days I realized: the Wii sucks.

This generation of consoles is completely ridiculous. They've been trying to pack in too much tech this time. This did sacrifice manifacturing quality and we're all losing in the end. God ****ed extreme capitalism for the lose. But at the same, we asked for it (not me though). All crybabies wanting their sweet sweet graphics and never ending freeroaming super duper AAA games... .

Did you have to start everything over again? Could you still use your old PSN? Your PSN isn't in your PS3, its in the PSN server, the data (game saves) are in the PS3, so unless you back it up, you'd have to restart everything again. Downloads are also saved to the server not the PS3, so you'd be able to re-download everything normally without having to buy everything you had again.

Well umm.. i got mine when it came out.. The very day.. It seems to be fine.. i hope.. p.s. As much as companies hate it, they HAVE to give a 5 year warranty free of charge, It's law. (Only in uk)

Good news, guys! I'm supposed to get my PS3 back TOMORROW! YES! LBP, here I come! Too bad I have to start everything over again/ reinstall EVERYTHING! Including Socom which has like, an hour long install anyway.
