Sackboys Of Liberty (pics and video)
Archive: 15 posts
Okay, So I'm currently working on a MGS2 Tanker chapter remake called 'Sackboys Of Liberty'. (geddit?) I've played a few levels of this theme, and while some are real good, none feel accurate and remind me alot of MGS2. Which is why i want to make one as accurate as possible while still retaining LBP fun. I have done a similar level for MGS1 (see Sackboy Does Shadow Moses in my sig) but this is an old level and I can do much much better now. So far I think I've done a fairly good job, but i've barely reached the Olga fight at the moment so i'm not far through. Here are some pics of what I've done so far: http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b164/ryryryan/P200409_145501.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b164/ryryryan/P200409_1505.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b164/ryryryan/P200409_1511.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b164/ryryryan/P200409_1512.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b164/ryryryan/P200409_151201.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b164/ryryryan/P200409_1513.jpg And these are more recent, but worse quality: http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b164/ryryryan/Picture075.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b164/ryryryan/Picture079.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b164/ryryryan/Picture078.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b164/ryryryan/Picture077.jpg And here is a video, but It's old. I've done more than this now. YouTube - my MGS2 lbp leve The Olga fight will include her bobbing in and out places while shooting you. Once you have shot her a few times, she will then shoot a light (well, i'll program it) so it makes it harder to see (like the game remember ). The rest will be normal platforming with some fun here and there until the epic end where RAY (using the model i've already made - see sig) will break out and escape. I'm going to spend ages on this as i want it to be a real epic sequence. I'll probably have to trap sackboy and just let it be a cinematic watching sequence, ending with sackboy falling in the sea and sinking (where the level end will be). Anywho, any thoughts/ideas and what not are appreciated Random note... had this glitch when making the level lol: YouTube - V060409 17 57 | 2009-04-25 18:29:00 Author: ryryryan Posts: 3767 |
Seems cool ... Though I WOULD prefer you to actually f make the full game... Like a level for the beginning, then a bunch of other sequel levels... Eh, I suppose this looks good enough | 2009-04-25 18:35:00 Author: RockSauron Posts: 10882 |

Eh, I suppose this looks good enough Haha do you mean full game of MGS1? I'll probably carry that on eventually. I was just turned off with all the problems I had with the level until the CY update. If you mean this level... this will be the full tanker episode. Big Shell maybe next I can't fit both in one level! Lol | 2009-04-25 18:39:00 Author: ryryryan Posts: 3767 |
Whoa!! Those grunts that can turn around is one of the coolest things I've seen lately. Well done! | 2009-04-25 20:23:00 Author: Wonko the Sane Posts: 109 |
Whoa!! Those grunts that can turn around is one of the coolest things I've seen lately. Well done! Thanks I've got one that walks up a hallway, turns round and walks back down the hallway, turns back round and repeats It's a shame i couldn't get a video of it. Doesn't include emitters either | 2009-04-25 20:26:00 Author: ryryryan Posts: 3767 |

Doesn't include emitters either That I don't get. That reminds me, would it by any chance be a bit like the trick MM pulled off on the pillar-with-the-spikes in their infinite checkpoint-tutorial? Parts of tat pillar seem to turn around with the spikes outward... and THEN start moving on pistons.... the pistons being attached to the side that was previously the outer surface of the pillar! That's something I instantly linked with your patrolling soldier, but I can't figure out any of it. | 2009-04-25 20:37:00 Author: Wonko the Sane Posts: 109 |
Woah! That was the first time I heard you talk you awesome kid you! Ok, anyways... Looks really cool, and... um... don't hurt me for this anyone, but I haven't played MGS so yeah I can't really compare it with the real game. Looks good so far, if you need a playtester, I'm your Whale! | 2009-04-25 20:38:00 Author: Whalio Cappuccino Posts: 5250 |

That's something I instantly linked with your patrolling soldier, but I can't figure out any of it. It could be similar but i'm not sure. It's not that impressive if i'm honest. First off, it's a normal soldier facing the screen. I have then put an invisible piston to make him move left and right across the screen. I have the put an arm on him attached by a wobble bolt. What happens is it starts off,arm facing forward, and he is pushed that way by the piston. Once he reaches the end of the corridor, the arm is timed so he stops and rotates the arm to face the other way (the arm has a gun with the spotlight & plasma emitter on like the still soldiers), and then the piston pulls him back. To make it look like he's walking, i've added small invisible pistons from the top of his body to each foot so his legs go up and down. It looks more cute than realistic, but i don't mind as it's LBP EDIT: WHALE! :O How could you!? Actually that makes you the perfect tester, as you don't know what to do already. In about 6 weeks, fancy testing it? And LOL. Yeah i sound weird on video xD Here's a random video i made. LBP unboxing xD YouTube - LittleBigPlanet Unboxing!!! | 2009-04-25 20:44:00 Author: ryryryan Posts: 3767 |

I'm still wondering about that though, you should go and check it out on a youtube vid about creator pack 1. It's reaaaly fishy. | 2009-04-25 20:49:00 Author: Wonko the Sane Posts: 109 |

Haha I'm down! And nice video, ahaha. Awesome xD And glad you liked it. It has a comment saying 'this could possible be the best video on youtube' LOL. I'm still wondering about that though, you should go and check it out on a youtube vid about creator pack 1. It's reaaaly fishy. Wow that is strange. I didn't really notice that when i first checked it out. Still trying to figure that one out lol. | 2009-04-25 20:56:00 Author: ryryryan Posts: 3767 |
Would Big Shell fit in just one level?! I think it would take two or three levels. Regardless, this is looking pretty good! | 2009-04-27 05:26:00 Author: aer0blue Posts: 1603 |
Would Big Shell fit in just one level?! I think it would take two or three levels. Regardless, this is looking pretty good! I'm not sure really, i think it could pretty easily as there aren't too many materials to use. If i remember, there are six out building and a main one in shell one, and then a broken one and the main one in shell 2. Hopefully that could fit. Alot of it is running back and forth between places too (which i won't do in the level unless it's a needed part, like going back down to defuse the main bomb, then fight Fortune) so there aren't too many areas. BUT, that is literally just big shell. If I still want to carry on, Arsenal Gear will need its own level. And thanks, but I'm very worried out reaching RAY at the end of this level. I've never ran out of thermo space on my levels, and i really don't want this too | 2009-04-27 12:39:00 Author: ryryryan Posts: 3767 |
That looks seriously epic man, I just saw the bridge screenshot and I was like "yeaaaaaah boyyyy" | 2009-05-18 21:37:00 Author: HalfaSack Posts: 214 |
Nice. I've been a fan of Metal Gear for a long long time. And this looks great. Can't wait to play the finished product. | 2009-05-18 23:46:00 Author: Chicago51 Posts: 258 |
