Psycho Mantis Doll -- Posing?

Archive: 7 posts

Hey guys.
I was just working on my first level [ which is a short and stupid piece of crap ] which involves the Psycho Mantis Doll [ obtainable on the intro of the first MGS level --- place large bullet hole sticker on crate to right of scoreboard to obtain ] dancing. I tried to use pistons, but he just kept breaking over too much pressure.

Can someone maybe find a way to pose the separate bits of him, or maybe help me out with the pistons thing? We could video-call over MSN if that'd help.

Thanks in advance, ImpairedToaster.

Works, but the effect isn't very smooth. Very jittery and such. I'm gonna try winches.
Am using a 2nd controller to hold the arms out. Further advice would be nice.

And, done!
Winches made it great. Publishing level!
Look me up, PSN is ImpairedToaster! Thanks for the help!

It seems to be a fault with all doll parts in the game.

I tried making some greek dancers for my new commando level just by sticking the doll parts together and then putting a wobble bolt throough the torso to just make the whole thing jiggle about but even though it was moving quite slowly the arms and legs still kept breaking off. Even if they aren't moving a player only has to grab them and they break really easily.

I have given up trying to use doll parts now because they are just too weak. I ended up making my own characters from cardboard. I'm not the greatest artist so they don't look great but at least they don't fall to pieces.

If you manage to find a way to use them I would love to know. I wish you the best of luck.

Haha, thanks. I used winches. Kind of unstable, though. At least they work! You can play my level to check out Psycho Mantis' dancing frenzy.
P.S: I'll try the regular doll parts right now!
