Q&A with MM

Archive: 33 posts

Hidy Ho there everyone,

I'm not sure if this is where I post this info, but if it's not, feel free to mod the heck out of this message. Anyway, over at LittleBigLand.com we are trying out a community feature where we will interview Spaff from MM and ask him some questions that the community has. If you have any questions, just check out this link: http://www.littlebigland.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=670.
Please don't think that we are trying to pull members from this site over to littlebigland, that is not the case at all. We are just running the Q&A over there, and that is why I'm linking you there. If you don't want to head over there to ask the questions, feel free to ask them in this thread, it just makes my life a bit easier if we can have the majority of the questions in the thread on littlebigland.

Thanks a lot everyone, have a great day!

Some interesting questions you have there. Hopefully this will squeeze some info from Mm. I can't think of any that haven't been posted already but when I do, I'll post them over there. 2009-04-24 15:47:00

Well, so long people *Moves to Litlebigland*
lol nah jk, i wouldn't leave this place (uness paid of course ).
I do have two questions tho, hope you don't mind me posting them here.
1. Is the Final Fantasy pack going to be just FF7 or from various FF games?
2. How many costumes are there gonna be in it?
3. Is it just costumes, or does it come with sticker decorations, or perhaps new materials?

Alright, I added your question to the thread. Though I posted as amazingflyingpoo, I included your username as the person asking the question, and I also mentioned that you are from lbpcentral.2009-04-24 17:04:00

Little Big Land ey? Hmm, so there is life beyond these borders...

A question I would like to know:
* Will the tutorial background along with its new music track ever be released?

I have a question that Spaff should hopefully be allowed to answer. I hope you don't mind me posting it here, it's just easier ( for me anyway ) Ok here it is, the greatest question to be asked in the history of mankind...

Do the Mm level designers work individually when creating a level or do they all work on a level together? When creating the story levels did they work on different sections each? (The Gardens, The Wedding, etc.) If that is the case who created which section?

Lastly, thanks littlebigland!

WOO-HOO! More questions! I will add these to the list of possible questions soon. And don't worry about posting here, it is ok. I understand that it is a hassle to sign up over at LBL just to ask a question.2009-04-25 23:35:00

Good question Silverleon! I'm not really sure exactly what it is you want to know. When and where? Well I am in contact with Spaff, and I usually try to drop him a line once a week if he is not too busy. We talked about this last week during the week, and I said I would get back to him next week and see when was a good time for the Q&A.
I will admit that there is not a specific time set up, but not to fear, I assure you that he has agreed to do a Q&A, and it is just a matter of which questions he can answer.
Is this the type of answer you wanted? Sorry if it is not exact enough for you, but the times are not exactly set in stone. Spaff is pretty busy, and I am just happy that he is willing to fit this into his schedule.
Have a great day,

Yeah, that answers one of my questions, thx.
But are they gonna be answered in that same thread, or is there gonna be a new one for the answers, which is the other thing i wanted to know.

Anyway, I will probably make a new thread with the Q&A, but I will giver you all the link to that thread when I make it.

Hi Mr Poo,

My question is: How long on average does it take to create one little big planet story level? Thats from blank canvass to finished product.

Cheers Tom

I'd like to know if they plan on changing the level complexity measurement, so we have more room for things in our levels. Hope you don't mind me posting here, certain websites still have to be filtered through the space-time distortion SA-ZX-Z quadrant machine...2009-04-28 00:11:00

I joined LBL before, but only shortly before I found this (more active) forum. It dying temporarily also had a bit of an effect.

Separate thermometers would be nice.

Little off-topic but Echo, I don't think we should discuss the "popularity" of the different LBP-forums here (or for my part anywhere on the public forums).2009-04-28 00:36:00

I see, alright, thx.

Oh,i thought of some more
-Are they ever planning on giving us more profile space?
-If so, can you tell when we will be getting this?
-Or if not, why?
i'm pretty sure the PS3 can save a lot more stuff than waht we're cutrrently allowed..

I would like to know if there are plans to have new music and sounds. As great as the LBP soundtrack is, there are very few songs there relative to the amount of levels going about.2009-04-28 01:56:00

Alrighty, thank you so much for all the questions. You all have gone above and beyond my expectations (after my painful reception over at LittleBigWorkshop, I was beginning to think that the Q&A wasn't such a good idea). Now it is just a matter of sorting the questions out. As soon as the Q&A is up, I will let you all know!2009-04-29 15:08:00

Wow, thank you alot for taking the time to share this with us, AFP. (Mind if I call you that?)

If it isn't much trouble, maybe you could ask them If they could give us any info on the upcoming update codenamed "Leerdammer"?

My questions:
1. Would you consider releasing a pack for creators costing around ?10-15 that includes somewhere in the region of 100 new matierials for players to use?
2. Will you ever release some more colours of VR matierial, besides the red, green, and blue we have already? Particualrly a purple and a browny colour would be nice. In fact, you could release an entire pack devoted to Virtual reality with several new matierials and stickers.
3. How many types of polystyrene have you released? I have Polystyrene packaging and basic polystyrene but no other kind, and I have 76% prizes won, including 100% in the garden and the savannah. Did you only release two types? If so, more would be welcome.
4. I'd like some more earthy colours of stone. Hessian fabric looks pretty decent, but the fact its grabbable means its not ideal.
SP
Edit: Leerdammer info would be good to.

Err.. i'm pretty sure those are more like requests to add stuff you need rather than questioinds to the Mm staff....
Tho i guess i'll leave AFP to decide if they're really questions as they just seem like requests of stuff to me...

Sorry guys, in my last post I tried to imply that we were not taking questions anymore, and that we were sorting them out and sending them over to Mm. I guess I was not very specific in my post. I'm really sorry about that.
Yesterday, I sent 10 or 11 questions over to Mm. I believe that the majority of the questions that we chose were from lbpcentral since you all had so many great questions, but we managed to get at least one question from each of these 4 sites: LittleBigWorkshop, LBPCentral, LPBForum.net, and LittleBigLand. Not promises that Mm will decide to answer every singe question that we sent, but we can keep our fingers crossed. When I spoke to Spaff when we were talking about doing this Q&A, he mentioned that the questions may be used on the next Podcast, so if that happens, I will just mention it in this thread.
Have a great day!

I recognise your name. Did you make the Monster child levels?

LOL! I would never expect someone to recognize me by the monster levels, but yeah, I made those. I made "Freeing the Monster 2.0" and "Rescuing the Monster's Child" when I was learning how to build levels. I still think they are fun, but they are certainly not as polished as I would like (in fact, they are both rather ugly). After I was done with those, I went on to make LBL#1- Escape from LittleBigLand, and that is the level I won my crown with. That's the one that most people recognize my name from (well, the few that would recognize it. It's not like I am some famous author or anything). So how did you find my monster levels?2009-04-30 23:30:00

Can`t remember how I came to play them, I think you may have played mine first. But I remember suggesting a couple of additions to one of your levels (camera zones and brains on police cars IIRC).

Yeah, someone did advise adding brains to police cars, and I did add them, but those cars still ended up being kinda crappy. Like I said, it is not my best work. I like how the level has the monster working through the entire level with you. Except for that idea, the level does not have much to offer. I'd love it if you could try out my LBL levels, I think they have a lot more to offer, but it is fine if you don't have time. I am pretty busy myself, so I completely understand.2009-04-30 23:54:00
