MM holding back

Archive: 11 posts

Is it just me or does MM always seem to use tools from future updates?

In the mgs pack they introduced the global lighting tool.
Now the create pack 1 tuitorials use a new background.

I get MM's probably just giving previews but does anyone else notice these? Personally im still waiting for a foam sword i hope comes with the FF pack. Anyway what do you guys think?

Well, even Mm has said that they are usually developing multiple (5+) DLC addons simultaneously. QA'ing that content takes time, so even if they content is done it still has to go through QA, which, from what I've heard, takes anywhere from 2 to 6 weeks. In the case of the MGS pack and the Global Lighting Tool, it's entirely possible they were both ready for release at the same time, but the QA process for the MGS pack took less time and/or was of higher priority than the tool itself. I'm almost positive that Mm has little control over when their content is released - that's mostly up to Sony, and Sony prioritizes based on prospective sales, not customer satisfaction (unless that's a factor in sales, which it isn't for Creator Pack 1). Keep in mind, this pack was free - Sony wouldn't spend money to speed along the QA process for a pack that a) isn't going to persuade people to buy LBP and b) won't earn any money for Sony.2009-04-24 03:47:00

Oh yeah, definitely. Based on what I've heard from Alex in interviews and the like, they've gotten fluids (water and such) nearly nailed down, so I wouldn't be surprised to hear about that in the next few months.

That background isn't new.

Go to a tutorial in Create Mode.

Hmm... a foam sword ?(lkinda like the paintnator i suppose) Um, how to put this..
I really doubt that's gonna be made, i mean what would really be the point of it?
The paintnator gives you long range and some shooting action, but a sword, well, doesn't really give you any advantages, everything would be short range and whatever could be done with it would also be able to be done without it.
Not trying to be pessimist or anything, just saying.
But as always, no one really knows other than Mm right?
I could be completly wrong and it could be here pretty soon. but i personnaly doubt that'll be done.

There are actually two threads regarding this background, one by me and one by Morgana25. The first is here (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=10206), and the second is here (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=9370).

In the mgs pack they introduced the global lighting tool.

A thought on this. To release the global lighting tool as a part of the MSG pack meant testing it in specific contexts (i.e the released levels). Once it is given as a tool for joe public, they should be resonably convinced it works in all contexts. It's possible that the GLT was buggy as hell and only had limited features etc MSG came out, and their level creators worked around it the bugs.

Or they could just be a big bunch of teases, who like to gloat about the fact that they have toys that we don't....

yes this was my thought, and like CC said they have many things going on at once and this is a good way to both test and advirtise new items

and as for the sword, you should post comments for it on this thread https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=10815

i bet they already have a few bug free features, along with a load that are pretty close to being finished

i think they want to space out the releases though because if they released everything at once we'd all be complaining that it's taking a year for them to come up with anything else
