A couple more tweaks - leave your thoughts! :)

Archive: 15 posts

If you've not noticed yet, we've added an AJAX search box that will automatically use your "New Thread" title and find similar threads. This should help things like duplicate questions in Help! and duplicate News posts. If you'd like to try it out, click "New Thread" in any forum and type a thread title. Give it a couple of seconds (it will query the database while you type the description or do anything else, really) and it will display five related threads in the normal forum style, with links and related information.

We've also added helpful dropdown menus to both User CP and New Posts in the navbar. The User CP has been redone a bit too, with the ability to collapse sections that you don't use regularly and tree-style PM navigation.

We've also separated Stickies and normal threads, to help keep the content prioritized and separate from regular threads. Head to any forum with stickies and check it out.

Awesome. Tks for those improvements. Great work.

I like how the PSN is more visible now too.

On the new posts drop box - I can't actually select "new posts". So if I select "last visit" it will give me the newest since the last time I was here... right?2009-04-23 05:47:00

Yes, exactly. It omits posts from previous visits that you missed out on (still considered "new"), although if you select any of the other options, you'll be able to see posts that are new in that time frame regardless of your last visit.

I'm liking this one a lot. Makes it a lot more organized.

I hope the AJAX thing works for me. Not sure if it will since I'm using my cellphone.

Nice updates again .

Fantastic new updates Cartman!

I have a suggestion. Is there a way to make it so that when the last post is edited by the author the thread becomes marked as unread again? That would help to deter double posts.

That would be good and not good at the same time. The double post rule is there so the thread aren't abusively bumped. By letting people edit their last post, they can totally abuse bumping again.

The thread wouldn't be bumped, it would show up as new as if there was a new post in the thread. In other words, it would just show up in bold again while remaining in the same position in the forum.

Great additions, especially the Search function addition! And I've been wanting a User CP drop-down for a while. I'd love if Killian's suggestion was possible, but it seems to be editing the actual VB forum base code, not adding to it, is that possible?2009-04-24 18:18:00

Yeah, that's a decision that Jelsoft (developers of vBulletin) would make. I'm sure some code editing could achieve it, but to be honest, I'm not sure how to do so and I don't want to fiddle around with anything that I'm not confident changing.
