WovenEye: Mexico Mission (pics included)

Archive: 27 posts

I'm well underway on the Mexico Mission, the next 0013 level. I'm two bars under half thermo at the moment. I had a spurt yesterday and even shocked myself to the amount I got done in the level from scratch.

The layout is nearly in place, that should be done tonight (plenty of crossing paths!!!), then its a case of adding in the puzzles to fit the story, and seeing how much Thermo is left for the boss. If I can't do what I want for the boss, then it will run to two chapters I think (I said that about Siberia, and that ended up 5 parts lol).

Anyway, a couple of earlier pics, you can see some parts are unfinished but the pics where taken late last night, and I've done work since then.

I'll post in here when I get a bit more done for anyone who wants to test.

Omg, this is going to be awesome I first thought Part 5 would've been the end of the series. But knowing that this one, at probably one more will also be added to the series is such a relief. You always manage to amaze me, both in puzzles as in gameplay And ofcourse, secrets! WOoo!

So far the screenshots look really good, changing the theme of the series a bit seems like a good idea!

I still wonder why people here think Mexico is all deserty-like, i've have been to Mexico, and its a pretty decent place, with cities and all, they don't wear the so called "sombreros"(which is just "hat" in spanish...) its just like in the U.S. actually, but with more people actually doing something.
That might have been in the really old times i guess, but its like saying in the U.S. everyone lives in trailers or, they all wear cowboy hats and talk with that weird old-western accent...
Stuff like this is what makes everyone still think of Mexico and Mexicans as the old stereotypes...

I don't usually like to go make a fuzz about anything, but something i really REALLY hate are stereotypes, ANY stereotype, for it degrades that race...

This looks like it could put "Boom Town" to shame!

How you make such quality levels at such a speed is beyond me...

I'll add you as a freind Dkjestrup. I'm sending out a key to the usual testers tonight if all goes to plan

I was playing around with trying to drop the thermo last night. I create everything with the grid on as a general rule expect for un-natural detail like terrain. Using the corner editor and removing un-seen or un-needed corners I dropped the thermo by a full 2 bars! I've never done it before and even though it took an hour and half the result was worth it for the space saved.

I think tweaking the thermo like that is something I should get into.

For you however, it would be much more important, as you have paths cris-crossing everywhere. Imo, one of the most important elements in a level is the use of all 3 planes, and you do this in spades!

You let ThommyTheThird test right? WHY?!!?!?! No surprise he gets the highscores on your levels, he practices. We need an advantage. I know!

Give us a custom sticker switch, and only give everyone but him the sticker! That'll teach him!

Lol, yeah it would, a little unfair though.

As for the boss, it was REALLY hard at first, I've toned it down loads and am happy with it as it is. I don't like making things to hard for players, I want them to see the whole level first playthrough

I'm thinking of making a hardcore version, faster hazards, hard boss, race gates and no magic mouths so people can get a good score run on it? Tameturtle thought of the idea a while ago but I think it might fit in well with this installment. I might be able to work it into the original if the thermo stays down, I got 6 bars left and not a great deal to add now, or not anything that willl massively increase it

Btw, this is the first level i tested. Seriously, ask Gruntos.

All the others i just played loads of times (I don't even have the highscore on most btw.. either Tasty-cafe or TameTurtle do) But yeah, still got the highscore in the level where there's a magic mouth saying i got the highscore. (The Unhearted, Drakes misfortune one )
