Gravity Manipulation?
Archive: 21 posts
Hi guys, Iv been thinking about all the possible additions LBP could add for its creators and i come up with the idea of a gravity switch. Like how about if a gravity switch could be connected to a proximatey switch. It would open up so many possibilities and could make for some very interesting gameplay. It would also be awesome to be able to turn the gravity off completely. I just would love to confuse the hell out of the people playing my levels lol. Anyone think this is a good idea? I think if an option to change gravity were to be added, then it should be added to the Global Settings menu and THUS it would also be added to the Global Settings Switch which will be released in two days from the date of this post. | 2009-04-21 13:39:00 Author: MMLgamer Posts: 183 |

Superyuper is it the tiny box that you crawl into? a gravity switch would be awesome anyway some levels rotate the entire playing area to give a similar effect, but it'd add an extra challenge if you're walking upside down there are loads of other possibilities with this, like i bet you could create a planet type object with a gravitational pull | 2009-04-21 15:56:00 Author: Dexiro Posts: 2100 |

I also REALLY want to make a level based on that piece of art with the staircases going everywhere, upside down, up the walls and everything. Could make some amazing mazes | 2009-04-21 18:31:00 Author: RedSoakedSponge Posts: 52 |
Great idea, yes Been discussed many a time. Theres a thread for it here (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=9323) in PENDING Suggestions, fourth one down. Feel free to nominate it to show you're support I'd love a little gravity emitting beacon thing... That when you get close to it, you get dragged towards it.. So you could stick one behind a wall so you could walk on walls or whatever | 2009-04-21 19:58:00 Author: Pinchanzee Posts: 805 |
Gravity was originally going to be in the game but it was removed for bugginess. I'm not going to say for sure (since I've lost the OPM with the interview) but they were saying they would bring back features they didn't have time to bug free e.g wind, gravity and I think they said weather control but we have that now anyway. | 2009-04-21 22:05:00 Author: Shermzor Posts: 1330 |

I think they said weather control but we have that now anyway. are you sure we have weather control?? weather control is rain and snow and stuff, i'm pretty sure i've never seen any of that in lbp | 2009-04-22 07:14:00 Author: Dexiro Posts: 2100 |
I think he maybe means the new create pack tool that changed daylight and stuff? But ability to have snow instead of heaps of emitters would be nice And the option of some blank backgrounds.. like a sea/horizon? Nice little combo ^_^ | 2009-04-22 17:03:00 Author: Pinchanzee Posts: 805 |
i'd really love to see weather it could be implemented easily if it was made as a foreground and didn't interact with what was in the level (i think they should at least do this) but it'd be even nicer though if the rain splashed when it hits the ground and makes surfaces more slippy (make sponge expand?) and possibly create small puddles same with snow, seeing a small layer of snow forming on the ground would be awesome | 2009-04-22 17:09:00 Author: Dexiro Posts: 2100 |
We have that little globe thingy which I keep forgetting the name of I think it's the OPM with the casino royale cover but I can't find it anywhere!!! | 2009-04-22 17:52:00 Author: Shermzor Posts: 1330 |
We have that little globe thingy which I keep forgetting the name of I think it's the OPM with the casino royale cover but I can't find it anywhere!!! the global switch doesn't change the weather though (or does it? o.o) as far as i know it just changes the time of day/ darkness and hopefully colour correction | 2009-04-22 18:04:00 Author: Dexiro Posts: 2100 |
Well that's weather Besides adding water and lightning would be quite hard as you'd have to make it either part of the background (so recode the background) or make it a colour corrector which i don't think can be animated. | 2009-04-22 18:46:00 Author: Shermzor Posts: 1330 |
but day/night isn't weather and you're right water would be hard to add IF it had a physical effect on the level lightning would be quite easy though i don't know what you mean by recode the background ^^ the background is a physical 3d object, so dynamic light has an affect on it, as it does with every other 3d object. Adding flashing lights and sound effects to a background would be quite easy, it's just a question of making the lightning flashes seem natural | 2009-04-22 20:08:00 Author: Dexiro Posts: 2100 |
...Or perhaps (brainwave ) making lightning appear exactly where the player wanted (considering you can build your 'level' anywhere within the bigger space) couldn't be done by a slider; should they make it only stay above buildings? Or should it always hit the ground? If you just want lights why can't you use LED's? Don't think a lightning tool is needed/can be made better than what we have in summary That said something like he laser that came with MGS that made a beam of lightning would probably work but I'm not sure about adding animations to it . Also found my magazine (under a sofa cushion ) and the extra thing was actually a paintgun which is already out making the 'gravity slider' allowing for 'Hero levels' looks like it might well be on its way. | 2009-04-22 22:14:00 Author: Shermzor Posts: 1330 |
oh i thought you meant just have lights flashing in the background i think lightning that strikes parts of the level would be better as a hazard like you select a small area that can get shocked, maybe connect switches to it if you want to control the shocks | 2009-04-22 22:44:00 Author: Dexiro Posts: 2100 |
the level im bringing out next week (space level) has my space suit... (its antigravity, bout 1.2x the size of sackboy) | 2009-04-23 01:21:00 Author: johnrulz77 Posts: 835 |
Gravity manipulation would just be so helpful and you could use it to create underwater levels | 2009-04-23 15:03:00 Author: robotiod Posts: 2662 |
