Hyper Cube Frenzy

Archive: 15 posts

Hi everyone!

Just wanted to let you know that Hyper Cube Frenzy is due to be published today (7.30pm UK time).

The level is a collection of rooms from the Hyper Cube series as voted for by the LBP Community. I received nearly 2,000 suggestions and messages for this, so I'm really hoping that I've done it justice.

I hope you'll consider giving it a go, and please don't hesitate to comment. More importantly, I hope you have fun.

Thank you,
MrsSpookyBuz

Well, it`s great. Can`t really find many faults.

Though at one part where you have 4 cubes attached to a centre cube that`s spinning. I thought I was to jump from one to another while dodging the plasma shots. Died 3 times before I decided to jump down to get a better look at it.

Maybe an arrow or something to tell players to head down rather than jump onto the obstacles?

Other than that i love it and it gets 5 stars and a heart from me.

Hello, that was fun. With the new update it makes it look very clean now, without any motors and stuff showing. The room hc3-4 squished me under the moving platform I was holding the ball at the time so probably just a fluke. Shooting the rotating squares was good fun and getting under the spinning electric crosses was good. 5*
Could you check out my Jungle fun level cheers.
edit - just noticed you created the dragon rider level, nice one thats brilliant.

Matt82 and bindibaji - thanks very much for playing, and I appreciate your comments very much. (Matt, I have placed an arrow before the spinning cubes room! - thanks for that).

@bindibaji - this is the first F4F I've done, so please accept my apologies if I'm supposed to post this review elsewhere.

I just played your level, Jungle Fun. It looks great, the instructions are clear, and I loved it! For me, it had a great mix of platform, puzzle, ingenuity and little secret areas (such as on the jetpack following the spiders). I enjoy a challenging level, and although I noticed there's a harder version, I found this to be quite difficult without being frustrating. I think i finished about 92nd on the scoreboard, so not bad for a 39-year-old woman!

In summary, I reckon this is a well-balanced level, and I'm just a little peeved that it's currently 3-star. In my eyes, much better. Well done!

Rated 5* and hearted. Tagged with 'Satisfying'.

Edited to say: Whoops, wrong thread! reposted this on Jungle Fun F4F thread.

Sensational! As a long running fan of the HyperCube series (I've hearted all four now), I have to say that this 'greatest hits' collection was indeed a great addition to the series. the choice at the end to include your selection of bonus rooms was fantastic.

After seeing the first three, and their visual themes, I was very curious as to the look this would take on, and I was not in the slightest disappointment. It follows the simplistic look through and through, but doesn't get boring.

The race against time was my favorite addition, giving a true sense of urgency only hinted at musically in the previous entries.

Overall this was a fantastic experience, though I must say I'm probably biased, being a stark fan since the first entry of the series.

I remember playing Hyper Cube 3 about a week ago when cruising the New Levels page. Had some good fun on that one, so I'm looking forward to playing this whenever possible.2009-04-23 04:23:00

This was yet another winner from MrsSpookyBuz! Maybe living in proximity to Media Molecule has rubbed off on her! A wide range of puzzles all creative, all well balanced, and the timer addition really adds a sense of urgency! I slid accross the finish line only a second or two before the buzzer! loved the choice of bonus room at the end. I know that this is going to be the last hyper cube, let's all hope that she is just planning on putting it on the back burner for a while! I look forward to her next level whatever it may be! Seriously, If you have ever found yourself enjoying a puzzle level, you owe it to yourself to pop into one of the hyper cube series!2009-04-23 13:55:00

@ReverendWolf - thank you so much for your kind words. They mean a lot to me genuinely. I enjoyed producing the levels and I'm pleased that you enjoyed them.

@RE_pulse - Thank you, my friend! I must do the sequel to Dragon Rider (especially with the ultra-groovy global light switch!), and I may return to the Cube at some point, though it's difficult to think of 16 different ideas for each level. Still, I'd never say never
PS - Congrats on Jack Skellington. Simply beautiful (and that complient is coming from a massive Tim Burton fan!).

Ok, I played Hyper Cube 3 (gave you a review on it too ) and I was impressed with that. This level seems like it's taken all the best rooms from 3 aswell as some great platforming, shooting and puzzling rooms from the other 2 Hyper Cubes. And then made it more competitive with bonus rooms at the end. Result? Something amazing!

Pros:
+Clean art style
+Fun as a platformer
+Fun as a shooter
+Fun in so many other ways!
+The race, gives it a lot of replay value
+Bonus Rooms!
+The best of Hyper cube 3 was in there
+Remembering how to complete a room because I'd seen it before, but now with added incentive!

Cons:
-Getting angry during the space ship escape as it did a back flip! Get to the LINE ******!
-Not knowing which bonus room gives the most points

Overall it was easily a level worthy of 6 stars.... however I could only give it 5 and a heart!
(BTW I'm 16th on the Leaderboard )

Actually this was the first hyper cube level I've played. I must say I had a ton of fun rushing through this level. This is the kind of level you can play over and over for a better score, and still have a ball doing it. I immensely enjoyed it. Great work!!!

@Coxy224 - thanks very much for your kind words. I laughed at your frustration as the space ship did a loop-di-loop. I have to admit, that addition is only there because I just learned how to do it! Well done on 16th place - you must have gone into Bonus Room 2?

@Smasher - thank you

Your levels are amazing! Every time you publish a level I already know it will be a hit. I especially like your Hyper Cube series (even more than Dragon Rider 1 & 2). I thought this one was the best of all! Great job!2009-05-02 06:01:00
