Center of a circle
Archive: 13 posts
First off, Hello! I come here quite a bit, more so to read then post... Anyways, I do have a question. Im working with a circle and im needing to put 4 poles through it, what would be the best way to find its center point? | 2009-04-20 00:16:00 Author: Norcon Posts: 2 |
Hello!!! Welcome to lbpcentral to find the center of a circle, make a big circle and then shrink the circle size down without getting out of the circle placement thing then you can delete or whatever. Does that make sense? | 2009-04-20 00:29:00 Author: Unknown User |
First off, welcome to the forums! About the topic, the best way to find the center point of an object is to create a circle with the cursor the same size as the object without actually placing the circle and then shrink it down until it meets the center. | 2009-04-20 00:30:00 Author: Killian Posts: 2575 |
i sometimes get a bolt and hover around near the center of the circle, and you usually find it snaps into place | 2009-04-20 00:42:00 Author: Dexiro Posts: 2100 |
You can also fold it in half, then fold it in half again. The creases left will mark the center. (kidding, sorry) Seriously though... another way to work with this is to use the grid. Make sure you use it when you create the first circle, and that the circle has an even number of grid blocks in its diameter, this way the center will fall on an intersection of grid blocks making the insertion of other centered objects easier. | 2009-04-20 00:55:00 Author: v0rtex Posts: 1878 |

That works but it can be a bit unreliable. | 2009-04-20 01:02:00 Author: Killian Posts: 2575 |
the grid method is the key! | 2009-04-20 01:05:00 Author: mindphaser74 Posts: 349 |
I think it is a mix of those two work methods. The first circle should be made on grid, than when you made it, turn grid off, shrink your circle down and cut the holes. | 2009-04-20 09:51:00 Author: Fjonan Posts: 359 |
Sometimes a circle is required where the grid is off center, the best way I do it, as mentioned above, is take the grid off and attach a bolt, it wil snap to the center. | 2009-04-20 15:31:00 Author: GruntosUK Posts: 1754 |
That works but it can be a bit unreliable. it seems reliable most of the time you have to be careful with large circles though because sometimes you might bolt it slightly off center by accident | 2009-04-20 16:52:00 Author: Dexiro Posts: 2100 |
any of these + grid method | 2009-04-21 10:40:00 Author: uzman Posts: 209 |
I really don't think the snap to center feature works that well... I wish that bolts and motors and such would have a snap to center feature on any object... Come to think of it, this would have been a nice addition to anything - stickers or whatever.... This would have been nice to have put in CY - they could have put it in the menu, just like grid options and game or front view. | 2009-04-21 14:45:00 Author: dobi6 Posts: 359 |
