Thermometer auto fill?

Archive: 18 posts

Well, here's the thing, while working on my upcoming level i started to mess around with a couple of my glitches, but after i started creating again for some reason i got the message of "Your level is starting to overheat" the odd thing is, when i started it wasn't even half full and i hadn't really built anything, and that's not the worst part, while still in pause mode i saw my thermometer was still rising little by little!
And yes i checked all my emmiters and they were all normal, and as i said, it was rising while still on pause.
So i decided to just exit w/out saving since i barely had done anything since i last saved anyways, good thing that when i returned the thermometer was back to normal.
Tho i still don't know what happened there, does anyone has any idea what that was all about?`

I have no idea what happened to you but when i'm on pause my thermo overheats in my train level. When i'm unpaused, it drops back right under the half of it. I don't get it.

It might be the pressure of suspending the code?2009-04-19 06:50:00

Same thing is happening to me (above)

I just copied my whole level and deleted everything and it is still only two bars away from the top and is rising very slowly...

I mean, WTF!?!

@ RangerZero:
Well, if i'm not mistaking, you use emmiters to give the illusion of the train moving, and you're emmiting an really complicated object many times,
Remeber that emmiters take more space than they appear to, and in pause they show their real amount of space they take, so that is normal.
You can still work on it, to i reccomend lowering the total number of abjects emited at once and their life span if possible.

It must be a glitch...

That is my only explination...

It seemed to happen when Cornish Yarg was released...

Does your level have a lot of materials in it?...

Oh darn, my other levels are doing it as well! D=
Has anyone been able to find out what causes this and if possible how to fix it?
Otherwise i won't be able to create anymore...

Great, so that's why my thermometer is filled up?

I got your message last night but I've never seen that before.
It makes sense it would be tied to something to do with emitters. I think I read somewhere on the forum that even stuff that isn't visible on the level but has the potential to be rendered affect the thermo.

Can you delete the "glitched" stuff to see if that stops the thermo from climbing? If that's what triggered it wouldn't deleting it make it stop?

Sorry if that's not entirely helpful but I'm not the most familiar with how the programming part of LBP works.

Good Luck!

If you start with a blank level with nothing in it does it start with an abnormally full thermo or is it normal?2009-04-21 02:51:00

You know, i haven't checked that lol
I'll go check it out, if its normal i could just copy the level in pieces or full, and put it in a new one!

That doesn't work, I tried it and then deleted everything in the level

The reason I was asking if it was climbing on a blank level is I was wondering if it's a problem with that level specifically or if it's universal and caused by the program and not any user created stuff.2009-04-21 15:53:00

Actually it worked for me :O
I just captured my unfinished level whole as one object and placed it in a new level and captured my completed level which i had to break down into many pieces, and am currently rebuilding it also in a new level and the termo is not rising by itself anymore!
Might not actually fix the problem, but its the only solution i got.
