Pistons definitely need fixing
Archive: 15 posts
ok, maybe its just me but why are pistons so crazy? every time before they start they take a second before they start working. this time period is different every single time. it is really annoying and screwing with my work. MM please fix this. | 2009-04-18 07:27:00 Author: Unknown User |
oh and sorry this should be in the suggestions forum. just noticed | 2009-04-18 07:34:00 Author: Unknown User |
Eh? That's not a bug... And does it actually bother you THAT much? i barely even notice... Unless you're talking when you're in pause and unpause and the piston takes a bit to start working, if so then it isn't a bug since it has to wait a bit to adjust ang get back in "its tempo" so its all normak, thrust me, once you get creatig for a while you'll barely even notice this. | 2009-04-18 08:33:00 Author: Silverleon Posts: 6707 |
hahah you said thrust me....*cough* ok well yea that is what im talking about. nvm i think your right, it works in play mode just not when i unpause and pause | 2009-04-18 08:48:00 Author: Unknown User |
hahah you said thrust me....*cough* ok well yea that is what im talking about. nvm i think your right, it works in play mode just not when i unpause and pause Yeah, It's meant to do that, It's just the piston/winch getting into sinc again. Also after making changes on a piston/winch, it has to kinda "reset" itself to sinc up with the timings. It's only in create mode though, or when you experience heavy lag in play mode. Give it a closer look, It's not a glitch | 2009-04-18 10:30:00 Author: noddle111 Posts: 174 |
Doesn't bother me, in fact I don't even notice it. Only takes a second or two... | 2009-04-18 12:17:00 Author: KoRnDawwg Posts: 1424 |
I have some crocodiles in a level I'm working on, I'm using pistons to open and close their jaws with flipper mode turned on. Occasionally, if I pause and unpause, the sync is messed up so their jaws break. I can just rewind to fix this, but it does get quite annoying. | 2009-04-18 14:57:00 Author: ARD Posts: 4291 |
Moved to suggestions forum. It seems that when you pause the game, the game still moves the pistons, though we can't see it. When we press play, it causes the game to re-sync and fast forward the pistons through he elapsed time to where they would be if the game wasn't paused. It's a slight flaw in the engine as far as I can tell. | 2009-04-18 15:04:00 Author: Killian Posts: 2575 |
Yeah I hate that. Also they need to add a quicker way to make the pistons length shorter or longer, because it takes FOREVER to go from 999 to 0... | 2009-04-18 15:39:00 Author: Kobe24Life Posts: 150 |
They did, the length changes by 1.0 when you use the d-pad now, making it twice as fast. | 2009-04-18 15:43:00 Author: ARD Posts: 4291 |

Yes it was included, as well as many other small changes (see my post in Everything Else LBP). Also, I have had this problem when trying to make a piston that goes form half-way in its movement cycle, to the end, back to the start, then back to half-way and stops. | 2009-04-18 15:45:00 Author: dawesbr Posts: 3280 |
The increments of 1s was added in CY, which is a nice addition. Of course you can always use the left analog stick if you need to adjust more precisely. But still, even with this change, moving from say 0 to 350 still takes a very long time. If you have an idea of how long or short something needs to be, you can use an ability to type in the length, if MM ever adds this feature. | 2009-04-18 15:50:00 Author: Unknown User |

Yeah that's what I was thinking the should add, hopefully we get this. It would be also good if they just made it go faster and faster if you hold down the d pad long enough. Like scrolling through something on the XMB it will increase in speed and then after awhile going up by 10's. Anyway thanks for letting me know they made it atleast a bit faster. | 2009-04-18 15:52:00 Author: Kobe24Life Posts: 150 |
