Good so far. Just a picture to prove I'm playing it, not promising it'll be anything to look at.

Impressions so far include it being just as fun and fast-paced as it looks. Should be great fun once I get into the actual multiplayer with voice chat.

First you're upset that people make such a big deal about Cornish Yarg and now you're unimpressed with possibly the most anticipated PSN title of the summer. Be careful, friends; here lurks a strange entity...

Only modes are Rescue the Princess and Team Deathmatch. Only map is the Black Forest which I believe is the only map we've seen actual gameplay of up to this point. I'll keep you all posted if I find any unlockables along the way.

Aww shucks; was hoping to find out more about the minigames.

I mean I'm sure the missions will be amazing but the extras will be what keeps it alive and fresh.

EDIT: Just listening to that Ice staff; sounds very similar to one of the sound effects in the original PS1 Medieval game.

I've actually seen gameplay of about 5 maps. I started a thread about it a while back. I would have entered to get the beta but I've no camera.
I should have just photoshoped...

Got my code from USA Today in another offer. Keep your eyes peeled; probably more pop up tomorrow or even tonight.

Seemingly, there aren't enough people online to get a full game going. It times out when trying to connect so that's what I'm assuming anyway.

It's got the same kid-cuteness of it as LBP. Which makes me wonder how you can like the look of LBP? Which makes me wonder why you're here!? lol

1st video:

"..in your base, killing our d00ds" = old meme = anti-lulz = fail =

/facepalm.

Although it looks ok. Not that I'll probably play it longer than 10 minutes.

Good for you, man! I am EAGERLY anticipating this game. I can't wait to dive in there and play. My biggest question for you, once the matches start working at least, is how the teamwork goes. I hate team games where everyone essentially goes out and fights on their own, and the only way to really utilize teamwork is to play with friends and have headsets. Team Fortress has always done a great job of forcing you into teamwork with a broad range of must-have classes that need to all utilize their skills to win. Hoping that Fat Princess has a lot of built-in teamwork good-times.2009-04-17 01:40:00

I'll be sure to let you know how the online matches go just as soon as I can find one. You won't catch me in this type of game sans headset and I hope other people realize the importance of said headset. Alas, the majority will most likely avoid teamwork of any kind and die at the hands of a well-oiled pack of naginata-wielding warriors.

Who has questions?

This is what I see as the biggest problem with this game. It looks great fun, but as the KZ2 community and the LBP community (us!!) will tell you, the problem with online multiplayer is the folk who play it.

Very few people play in the spirit of the game.

I guarantee if there are trophies, which is likely, that the vast majority will simply try to get them whether it is at the expense of the win or not. It is why I fear that MAG will be a complete waste of time too.

Count on it! I already know there are trophies. One potion in the game turns enemies into chickens. I know at least one trophy involves getting a certain number of kills AS a chicken. I guess you get your henpeck on. Expect to see a lot of mages throwing chicken potions on themselves over and over to try and get this one.

EDIT: It's a shame too... I really do think that achievements and trophies have been a massive detriment to videogames since they were first conceived in the dark corner of some dreadful marketing wing. *slips into a feverish trance*

I got my code from IGN yesterday, but I've only had the chance to play it for about thirty minutes. In that time, I was unable to join an online game, so I spent some time playing with AI opponents. I love the look and style of the game, but I wasn't having that much fun playing against the AI. I really think I'll need to play with real people to see what strategies develop.

Where you ever able to get into an online game Supersickie?

No online play for me to this point. However, I seem to remember reading somewhere that the beta doesn't actually start until today so maybe the server's hadn't gone live yet? That's my hope anyway...

Agree that it's not incredibly fun with bots, but I didn't expect it to be either. Have a fairly good feel for the game at this point and I can't wait to give it a go with some real counterparts.

i just really cant see the idea of a deathmatch in a cartoon game or the objective being to make a princess get fat a good/moral idea..2009-04-17 19:57:00

I don`t think 'a good moral idea' was the developers goal.

And back to the Trophies. I agree that they`ve been a terrible thing. Means that so many people play the game purely for Trophies/Achievements and rarely play in the spirit of the game.

SF4 is another that`s been damaged by online stat tracking. No one wants to play as anyone but Ken less they get beat a few times trying to get used to another character.
KZ2 is at times unplayable due to folk going for the 'Top X% player of the week' as all they do is spawn camp with a rocket launcher.

From what I know the servers are only live on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Doing this so that they can get a real read on how heavy loads of players will work with the servers. Unlike most betas that are released to the public these guys are really looking for feedback from the players, so if you got yourself a code please make the best use out of it and tell them your concerns.

Information from the Blog (http://blog.us.playstation.com/2009/04/15/eat-yummy-cake-join-the-fat-princess-beta/)

Cod, there were a couple different sites giving keys away. The Offical Playstation blog, IGN, and a few others I think. I'm not sure if any of them are still handing them out though.

I was finally able to get into an online match yesterday and I had a lot of fun! It's much better against real players than the AI and I started to see some strategies develop. Unfortunately, no one was using a headset, so teamwork was pretty non existent.

Played my first online match this morning so the whole "only Tuesday and Thursday" thing is out the window. Nevertheless, I was surprised to say the least. Only an eight person match, but it was a ton of fun to say the least. Going to say it right now; best selling PSN game of the year.2009-04-19 22:29:00
