Inside the mind of a "H4H"er (VIDEO) - by wexfordian

Archive: 74 posts

Hi Guys,
I just published my newest level "Inside the mind of a "H4H"er".

The level is intended to poke a bit of fun at the whole H4H thing. The level starts off as a regular H4H level (really badly designed ) but sackboy has had enough and along comes a friendly monster to help sackbooy teach his human a lesson. Sackboy jumps into the head of a H4Her and shows him all the things LBP can be used for.

The thermo filled up quicker than expectected on this one, so there is a few sparse areas but seeing as this level might take a hammering from all the angry kids out there I didn't want to spend too much time on this, as It may never really get anywhere.

Having said that I think you guys will see the humour in it and enjoy the various sections (puzzle, race, minigame, boss fight)

Oh and a nice little bonus at the end

Try it out and I hope you enjoy

VIDEO! Vanemiera you rock!

I like these levels, I'm in a collaboration with xkappax and hardsync doing much the same level at the moment (going into cool levels on the 7th day to find out why your level is'nt on there). I've just had a play, heres what I thought.

+ Lol, loved the start, very very true.
+ Nice looking monster
+ Getting inside the head of the human was a fantastic idea
+ The section in the head looked great, I loved the thin plane detail
+ Nice idea having the sections split
+ Liked the puzzle, took a bit of head scratching at first but I got there.
+ The zit splatting mini game was ace, reminded me of Warioware, good job.
+ Good race section, liked the plasma balls and electrified the best
+ Very polished level
+ Good boss fight, the dialogue once I had finished it was excellent
+ The best part of the level came at the end, you should have made the whole level like this, it would have got literally millions of plays

- Was'nt to keen on taking the lift up and down to open the new areas
- In the race section, where you descend on the winch, I stuck to the very right and made it all the way down, don't know whether this was intentional?

Two very small gripes in fantastic level. It looked great and played well. Each of the seperate parts where well thoughtout and designed. I had a blast playing it from start to finish.

Lets hope people take notice eh!

*****, a heart, and "brilliant" tag

Ok, I played it and it was amazing. Visuals, gameplay - and funny, couldn't ask for much more.

Pros:
+The general artwork is nice
+You say you didn't spend long on it.......but it is still great!
+The actually idea
+The start - made me laugh
+Actually, everything made me laugh
+Boss fight!
+"Special" Ending

Cons:
-So unbeleivabley hard when it came to the race section
-Little bit of lag at times
-In the puzzle section, I got one of the bits of puzzle stuck in the entrance and couldn't get it out

Overall though, a great level which I had to heart just for the humour!

Oh, and I keep seeing your LittleBigPond (I think that's what it was called) level everywhere......published by different creators with no credit
Just thought you'd want to know

Just played it, fantastic level!

Each of the 4 sections were really good. The race part was difficult but fulfilling. The only thing you were missing was "230 Fr33 Prizes!!!"

5 stars and a heart.

Man, that was really good, amazing presentation. THe race part was just too difficult for me though, i made it all the way to the bike thing, then I thought I saw a secret area and got off the bike, then I tried to get back on and got stuck in the mid-section.

Besides that it was great. The beginning is pretty amazing.

just played it, the story's great, and the visuals are really well done

+ i thought the puzzle was really original (at least i haven't seen anything like that before)
+ again the visuals are amazing and the overall idea is really funny
+- race was fun but maybe a little too hard
- i got stuck in the puzzle section twice because the lift kept moving when i ran off it
- boss fight was laggy for me, didn't bother me too much though

Ok, you got 5 stars, but no heart yet from me...

I loved the concept and style of the level... What got me to hold out on the heart was the race section. I would have been ok with it as if the whole level was that crazy hard.

If you are going to make it that hard, you need infinite life points.

You really ramped it up.

From the first section, with the moving platforms - which I liked a lot, but the camera in the beginning made it a bit hard to time the first jump (which has to be a long jump).

Then the jetpack section was super cool.

Then the fast spinning grab sections did me in. It would be hard if you had no electro things in it. The camera made the flying too random. I could not time when to let go on the second wheel because I couldn't really see where I was trying to go to get to the third one.

I found myself flying into electro balls without a real ability to change my fate.

as for the 233 Fr33 prizes - you should have put a room with a sign that says to go into it to get their 233 prizes, and drop a big electro block on them. haha

I will definitely play this level again, when I have a bit more patience to try to get through that race section.

I loved this level! Very creative and extremely well made. 5 stars from me.

I didn't have any trouble with the race section by the way, but I'd consider myself to be extremely good at platforming. I can see it being too difficult for a lot of people.

The puzzle took me a little while but I figured it out in about 5 minutes.

The boss fight was too easy in my opinion, but that may just be me.

The mini game was hilarious. I wished there was a way to avoid collecting the bubbles while I was playing it though...It took a hunk out of my score because they kept falling into me so I didn't get a big multiplier on that. Also I was wondering what the random section on the very left after it's over is. I could go behind the game over sign and there was nothing there.

Also, I didn't see the 233 Fr33 prizes thing...Did I miss something?

If you could, give my level: The Demon Lord's House of Doom (The Escape) a try when you have time.

Amazing level, the creativity and originality is sublime. The format and style is also very well executed, a few quirks though.

The boss fight, while undoubtably epic, was made a little annoying by the lag.

The race section has some very creative challenges, I liked the concept of them a lot. the only problem was the camera was a little uncooperative, in the first sliding platforms bit and in the spinning sponge bit, it made it more frustrating when you couldn't see what's ahead of you.

The puzzle section is amazing. Simple, but a perfect puzzle for littlebigplanet. No complaints.

The minigame was pure gold.

Overall, 4/5 and hearted. -1 for being laggy even with simple visuals, and some poor camera angles in the race that made it more frustrating than difficult.

Also, H4H plz thnks.

Okay, played it and loved it.

Puzzle - perfect! I'd love to see this ALSO in a separate level as it's own game. Had a blast.

Minigame - perfect!

Boss - I would try removing the smoke and playing around a little with effects to see if you can get rid of the lag. Didn't bother me TOO much, but it may be fixable.

Race - Ok, I liked the race a lot but there were some issues. First of all, when jumping up the horizontal moving platforms, I think it would improve the experience if you pulled the camera back. I felt claustrophobic on this part, and would have loved to see the platforms coming sooner. Also, on this exact same part the platforms seemed too close together vertically. Since your target is H4H dudes, I think it needs to be a little less frustrating with the jumping and a little more fun (which means making it a little easier).

Fantastic level - I gave it 5 stars and a heart simply because the above are my own subjective opinions, and in general I felt it was well designed. (and I know you're going to make some improvements so I'm thinking ahead!)

I've not been online with LBP, so I haven't played many of the community levels, but this is was awesome. I think waht really stood out for me was that each of the sections felt really balanced:

The puzzle was great, I have a similar thing on my moon with a 2d jigsaw, but IMO, yours is nicer because the 3d format is way more subtle.

With the boss you could see what was going on. You could potentially run into that fight having never seen the boss before and beat it without losing any lives. I didn't because I'm rubbish, but because you can observe the boss, whilst out of harm's way, makes the fight seem fair to me.

The mini game was probably the least strong area. Nothing wrong with it and it did amuse me. I was just wondering if it was at all randomised, or if the zits appear in the same place / same timing every time?

The race had some nice elements as well. I thought the spinning red/electric blue section was pretty nice, I thought I was going to get ruined on that but it was actually OK. I did use up nearly all my lives trying to navigate the maze before realizing I could just hover at the entrance an inch round the edge! Is there anything at the middle of it? I'll probably never find out on my own (see previous comment about being rubbish).

Only critisism is that at the beginning of the race, on those moving platforms the gas doesn't show up. Yes I know that little pit looks like it should be a hazard and I did jump in just to see, but it would be good if it showed up.

There were also so many little touches that I loved, the attention to detail was great, so 5* and a heart.

Imo levels that "poke fun at" H4H levels are nearly as bad =
I think you'd've been better putting your puzzles in a proper level, instead of "abusing" peoples wants =
Not a personal dig, I just don't like anything relating to "H4H", for or against.

Played this, AWESOME!! The begining was the best, was dissapointed in the, you know, level, part...

+ Puzzle was cool, I liked it.

- Puzzle was annoying, because the pieces were so light. I had a jigsaw-puzzleish thing in my first level, which, although much easier, still posed a problem for a lot of people

+ I loled at the minigame!

- Maybe increase the size of the dots and the face?

+ Race was really cool! I got back with 4 seconds to spare! The falling part where you grab the, uh, descenders, was much easier just jumping. I suggest you vary this bit up a bit, with turns which are impossible at fast speed (I just fell). If it wasn't for that I'd have been screwed time-wise

+ Loved the bike!

- Major lag in the hub room, must be all the lights...

- Boss was a bit boring and easy :S

+ Tounge in check humor was great!

+ Ramp was awesome!!

BTW WHAT IS THE SECRET ENDING!!! I'd play again to find out lol!

5/5 stars, Hearted, Tagged ingenious!!

Keep up the good work!

Have you played it yet? I kind of thought the same thing until I played it. I think he has a really intelligent take on it. Instead of bashing H4H, he illustrates what kind of great levels there are beyond the H4H levels. Kind of like educating a child that there's a great big world out there - go grab it!

I agree. He wasn't smearing H4H'ers. To me it was, "Hey look! Here are four different things that you could get inspired by to make a fun engaging level..instead of begging for hearts." I thought it was great fun and definitely one of your best levels wexfordian. I'm sure you'll make some tweaks based on the feedback you've gotten from everyone. They've covered all the cons I ran into, so no need repeating. Nice job.2009-04-16 00:50:00

There's no denying it, this level is pure genius. You've added a great deal of things for one to be inspired by, especially the puzzle which is possibly the best thing in the level (I like puzzles =D) along with the boss. The introduction was superb, I loved the credits at the beginning. I also really enjoyed the race, even though it was challenging it was still incredibly fun. Lots of humour was used and a great deal of things were available to chew on, helping extend the length of the level and add even more positive elements to the gameplay. The only negative thing that I encountered was the door to the Race section, as it didn't seem to open despite me placing the sponge underneath the area which is supposed to open that particular door. This only happened once so I guess that can be brushed off with relative ease, overall a great level which should educate the majority of those H4Hers out there.

Five stars and a heart, of course...

...Heart me back! lol xD

Checked it out last night and loved it! I actually went into it with a few friends of varying abilities to see how long we'd last. Puzzle broke them.

I went back in and played it solo and just loved it. The puzzle part is fun. I had an old puzzle toy like that when I was younger so it was pretty easy to solve. It looks really good though.

The race was fun! Nice mix of platform challenges. Had a couple of "cheap" deaths when I got flung up on the revolving red & blue sponges but it's still fun so not a big deal for me. The car is really nice too - loved the design.

The mini game was hilarious! Ramps up nicely and has a slightly icky element to it. I could put a suggestion in for making it very icky but I think I'll keep that to myself. Very fun to play though.

The boss looks amazing. Loved the colors and the movement and the camera angle you chose. The visuals and camera make it really dramatic even though he's pretty easy to dispatch. I don't have a problem with that.

The only criticism I can give you is if you want the front part of the level to be authentic - you shouldn't have included the invisible wall on the left. lol. Most dark mater level designers don't bother to ensure their players safety on a cliff. (Just joking of course about changing it.)

An excellent level and I think it's rather nice to H4H'ers. It doesn't insult them specifically, just tries to nudge them in the right direction. 5 stars and my no strings attached heart! Thanks for making this level and sharing it!

I played this (as you probably saw when you were playing. Shame about connection ). No time for a full review, but it was shweeeeet. I would have probably come first were it not for the fact that after the puzzle, I got the points in two different multipliers. I absolutely pwnd the race section (which was again, shweeeeet), didn't have to redo a single bit. Minigame was also amazing, but you can go behind the game over screen by going to the left (add points here and a spotlight that triggers a magic mouth saying "And secrets too!"). Boss was cool looking, but there was a safe spot just to the right of the paintinator which I could just shoot from.2009-04-16 22:49:00

Time for my review :kz:

Played it after seeing the thread here and liked it a lot. You deliver the idea very well without - as morgana said - insulting anyone. Your ideas are very imaginative and well thought out, your visual design is tight and fits together, really nothing to complain here (how the hell did you make the lever glow?). The puzzle was really no problem for me, very well made, but I can understand how people have problems here since the "clue" with the right cube could be set into a better spotlight. Maybe you should make it with two platforms, one with the already finished one, and one with the "broken" one to make it more obvious that you want the player to make another cube. How it is now, it looks like another "piece" thrown in the corner. Just my idea. If you leave it like it is, it's still fine.

I liked the minigame although I find the ideas of zits disgusting (good thing it doesn't get any graphical). It was fun and picked up speed nicely, I'd love to know the mechanics behind that. No complains here.

The race was a hard one for me, I was at my last life for like two times. Really brought the sweat to my hands and I wasn't even trying to race it. At the part where you dropped two double life checkpoints I didn't even lost one. The one thing with the four sponges going down through the electric stars, I did it as gruntos mentioned (I think) and dangled to the very right and had no problems there, dunno if this is how you wanted it to be.

I like the race car alot especially with the "suspension" you build there, looked very nice.

Which brings me to the boss fight. Besides looking really awsome it was not much of a challenge. I could stand at one point almost for the entire time and just about a few plasma balls came my way. All I did, was smashing the shoot button and nothing else. Might be luck, just wanted to tell you. I don't know how to make it more challenging, maybe forcing the player to move more. It was no disappointment but not a bossfight either for me.

The end joke was spot on and finished the level well. Overall I really liked it, because of the boss fight it is a 4/5 from me. Let me know if you change anything at that spot. Keep up the good work!

Well I played it and yes, I liked it a lot!!

+ The monster character was cute, made a picture with it
+ The "jump into the mind of a H4Her" was really cool!!
+ Nice use of the plasmaballs
+ Great Minigame
+ Great Bossfight
+ The Race was challenging
+ Great and ingenious puzzle but...

- ...the blocks fell over and moved out of place a little too easy for me
- The Race was challenging
- Little bit of lag

Loved it, gave it 5 stars and hearted it.
Another great level from a great designer, well done Wex!!

Cool level Wex. Yes, there are a few levels out there making fun of H4H (The "don't heart this level" level is hilarious), but this one does it tactfully and respectfully.

+ Jumping into the brain was neat
+ Typical H4H level at beginning and end was funny
+ Each section was well thought out and (for the most part) fun
+ Each section is a typical LBP style level, which could get H4H'ers inspired
+ The vehicle in the race looked good
+ Nice visual style

- The beginning section of the race was a little frustrating. The part with the moving platforms. The moving platforms were extremely frustrating to jump onto, until I realized that I just had to jump straight up, no need to get a running start. I don't know if I would consider this your level design's fault, I think it was more my fault
- Besides the beginning and the end, there wasn't much humor. The zit popping was funny, but not much else in the brain

btw, how did you make the eye for the boss? Was it just a gigantic magic eye?

Hi wexfordian had to drop a line and tell you what I thought.

1st impression: Very cool intro!

Tricky bit of platforming right off the bat! (cool)
Man barely made it no lives to spare...next segment...
Very cool but scary bit with the plasma balls!
Love the electrified wheel very cool..but **** hard
I managed to cheat my way around by flying next to the closed hatch which dissolved at the top and I flew to the center and exited (was I supposed to be able to do that?)
These elements are killer but they rock man!
Awesome design, great looking ATV.
The different rooms and they way you get to them is awesome.
Love the mini-game what a cool idea and great execution also fun!
Very cool Boss!
Love the whole theme and message!

Dude I so hope that message gets through to a few people!

Great job 5 stars and Hearted (Great concept!)

I played this the other night, and i generally enjoyed it. Here is my criticism:

- I didn't like the 3-way switch on the elevator just because 3-way switches are kind of wobbly, and sometimes tend to flick back the other direction when you release them, causing the piston to go back up a bit. Maybe if you used a more complex automatic elevator or a different switch mechanism (like a couple of grab switches hooked up to a "direction splitter").

- I liked the race, but it would have been better if it was a bit easier to make the last fling onto the platform at the top. I just barely made it the second time I tried. The vehicle part was cool too, but when I got off it, sackboy landed on top of the shocks or something (there's just a little hole where he can land so you have to jump down off it twice, not a major flaw, just a complaint.)

- The boss was way too easy and there's no pressure to beat him quickly. You can pretty much stand in one place while firing in his general direction and win. If you had a race gate right before you fight him and made a goal available after you win there would be a bit more time pressure to try and beat it quickly.

- The puzzle was pretty well done. It took me 2 tries to get the pieces right. The piece on the far left that was leaning against the left block, I accidentally shoved right up against that block and it was out of reach so i had take my jetpack off to be able to reach it, and then the 80% complete puzzle was impassible without tearing it apart. Tweak the jetpack's radius or position so that you can reach pieces that got moved off to the side without taking off the jetpack. Alternately, add a second jetpack to the left of the puzzle so if you take the jetpack off you don't get stuck behind the puzzle.

That's all I can remember, I hope it's useful to you. Thanks for posting your level.

Very good level!

I like the "political" theme. It's also well crafted and good looking.

I felt that some parts in the racing were too unpredictable, like the part where you grab and let go of wheels. When you die there, it feels like a cheap death.

I would also have design the middle of the level otherwise so the rides of elevator actually wouldn't add up. But this is a minor complain

very nice!!!
I love the idea of the whole thing. very clever.
The puzzle part was cool, but the big piece got stuck in the doorway, and I couldn't get it out. Maybe you could round the corner or something? I thought the race was great.
the zit game was very fun, and the boss was cool if a bit easy. That car has a spot on it that will crush you. It's the little piece underneath. Your sackboy tries to squeeze in there.
The elevator is a bit quirky, but other than that great level.

Finally played this last night and loved it.

The mini game made my LOL and was very different (was it a dig at the teenage H4H'ers )

Loved the way you made it that you you were inside the brain of the player

Nice that you had 4 different types of gameplay as well.

As mentioned before, you can just basically stand there and shoot the boss really and I actually found it quite hard to tell which ones of the targets I had already killed and basically just stood there shooting till it died lol

But this doesn't really matter to much as I wasn't in the mood for a challenge anyway

All in all, great level man.
And lets hope it might make a few of them H4H'ers think about what they're doing (but lets be honest, IT WON'T lol)

Great level man.
BUT you can get stuck. Me and CreateNPlay were playing it today. After we'd finished the 4 sections, he left on the elevator without me, so I popped (not really relevant but hey). He got to the rocket car and somehow got squished, and then we spawned back at the boss fight, but the elevator was still aat the top, so we were stuck. You should put a checkpoint in before the rocket car.

Played it and i thought it was great!
Good design and cool intro.
Tho i found a small problem tho (of course...) after finishing the challenges if you grab the sponge that takes you up and let go when you're already going up it will break on its way down, making it impossible to contunue :/
But other than that, it was an awesome level.

Great H4H satire and cinematic intro to start the level. Loved the cube puzzle and the sticker mini game! That's some impressive mechanics you've got there with the changing sticker hotspots. Great chance to rake up a high score too if you're competitive. The boss was cool, but a bit easy maybe. The race...well I got really narked with that bit. I couldn't make those jumps up the sliding platforms, even on my fifth attempt at the level, and gave up in the end. This section is way too hard for a cripplefinger like me and the only reason I gave you four stars instead of five. The central lift can leave you stranded sometimes too. Perhaps you could put a checkpoint on the lift itself? Otherwise this was an attractive, well designed and entertaining level to play, and I would gladly recommend it to other players.

H4H? (...just kidding!)

I was uploading some screenshots of mine to a new album on my profile and I had this from this level, so thought I'd put it here

http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=391&pictureid=3400

I actually let go of my jetpac and had to drag the pieces off to continue lol
Wasn't a problem though.

He can't change the race now.... it would make it too easy to beat my high score!

That's right folks.... in a level with over 20,000 plays old man Cubbage has the top spot right now!

I would have had the highscore if I hadn't spread the bubbles from the minigame into two different multipliers. 2009-04-19 14:16:00

Hey Wex,

Congrats on the Spotlight! I just played this level and I wish I could share the enthusiasm. The race section was impossible for me. One single-life checkpoint? I tried twice then gave up.

On the plus side, it looks fantastic, and I love the concept.

But just too frustrating for me. It's very well received though (1st page with a great rating and hearts), so I would utterly ignore my whining ways if I was you!

Brand new Gravel guy here,

Your level is exceptional. I've played it thrice, and it is one of the main reasons I registered here in an attempt to contact you... very nice job! I do have a beef however...

The first time I played-- your race did me in. Right from the get-go those platforms over the electricity is brutal. So I lost all my lives on the third out of four sections (going in order from left to right). Incidently, I died only one other time on the whole level... the race is hard.

So my second attempt, to save time, saw me attempt the race first which I finished this time but not for points... then puzzle, mini-game, and then ??? No matter what I did the final stage would not open. I went up/dn that shaft so many times I felt like a yo-yo.

The third time I beat the boss losing only one life. Then I promptly went to bed.
Great level. Great idea. Great design. I was just ultimately frustrated. Please keep up the good work and keep your ears open b/c if i'm the only one this happens to that'd make me pretty darn special, and all my life people have gone outta their way to let me know I'm not.

OK first off thanks for all the brilliant responses from everyone. Great to see this is generally so well recieved by you guys.

I'll try and comment on most of the issues you have mentioned -

Grantos
- Was'nt to keen on taking the lift up and down to open the new areas

mnnn.... I see your point. The reason I did this was to keep the cetral area in peoples mind and they knew to go back there when they finished up the 4 parts.

- In the race section, where you descend on the winch, I stuck to the very right and made it all the way down, don't know whether this was intentional?

I did mean this as a sneaky way to bypass it, but maybe its too obvious.

Coxy -

-So unbeleivabley hard when it came to the race section
I put in an extra checkpoint at the spinning circes bit but I'm still getting messeges that its too hard so I think I'll do away withthe electricity and slow it down a little.

-Little bit of lag at times

I'm guessing this is at the boss. LBP really doesn't handle when you turn the camera to the side a lot. I'll look into this.

Dexiro -
- i got stuck in the puzzle section twice because the lift kept moving when i ran off it

This is why I added the little wall blocking the player from falling down and not being able to jump back up. I don't know how to stop the lift from jumping. The switch just seems a little buggy

Dobi 6 -
Then the fast spinning grab sections did me in. It would be hard if you had no electro things in it. The camera made the flying too random.

As I said I'll remove the electric and slow it down a little hopefully it will make the camera better too.

ApellesJr -
If you could, give my level: The Demon Lord's House of Doom (The Escape) a try when you have time.

Absolutely

CCubbage -
Boss - I would try removing the smoke and playing around a little with effects to see if you can get rid of the lag. Didn't bother me TOO much, but it may be fixable.

I agree, I'll do it tonight and see what happens.

There was origianlly a camera here but must have got deleted when I was editing the surface it was on (Really hate when that happens). Put the camera back in and it makes a big difference. I will make the race a little easier.

rtm 223 -
The mini game was probably the least strong area. Nothing wrong with it and it did amuse me. I was just wondering if it was at all randomised, or if the zits appear in the same place / same timing every time?

There are 3 randomiser switches set up to be switched on individually as it progress to ramp up the speed of it. There are 24 different places the spot can appear but which one it appears in is completely random so no learning patterns

Pinchanzee -
Imo levels that "poke fun at" H4H levels are nearly as bad =

I totally didn't want to offend anyone making this. It really was just showing them alternatives rather than attacking them personally. The humour used was very light hearted in my opinion.

Phort -
- I didn't like the 3-way switch on the elevator just because 3-way switches are kind of wobbly, and sometimes tend to flick back the other direction when you release them, causing the piston to go back up a bit. Maybe if you used a more complex automatic elevator or a different switch mechanism (like a couple of grab switches hooked up to a "direction splitter").

Good point and i agree. I'll see what I can do about changing this.

Rangerzero -
I felt that some parts in the racing were too unpredictable, like the part where you grab and let go of wheels. When you die there, it feels like a cheap death.

Man I hate cheap deaths too. I think if I slow the rotation down a little it will help this problem.

johnrules77 -
so i check the front page of cool levels, and i see an interesting level... then i play it, and i was like WAIT!
THIS IS WEX'S LEVEL? OMFG ITS AWESOME!!!!!!!

AND CONGRATZ ON GETTING IT ON COOL LEVELS PAGE 1!!!!!!!!!

and another thing, i saw 95 PEOPLE PLAYING AT ONCE, when i went online so all i can say is....

CONGRATZ!

Thanks man, I actually saw at one point 151 people playing at the same time! I was very happy with myself This is just because its such a long level but still really nice to see

Gravel -
Your level is exceptional. I've played it thrice, and it is one of the main reasons I registered here in an attempt to contact you... very nice job! I do have a beef however...

wow, thanks for the compliment and I will try and make it a little less frustrating.

Thanks for allthe great adive guys. I really feel every time i post a level here the comments i get back make me a better creator and more capable of attempting a bigger and better project next time

This level is awesome. It's long, and challenging. Frustrating at some times but still, it was radical. Five star'd and hearted (heart back plz)

One issue though, in the race. I was in the car section, and was speeding my way to the exit, thinking "finally, I've beaten the friggin' race section!" I jump out of the vehicle, and landed inbetween the seat and the wheel. Stuck. I had to retry and start from the top D:.

Add a checkpoint at the start of the car section and it'll be perfect!

I really liked your level, the idea of the story was really great! I hate too all this H4Hers that do empty levels only for a heart. The intro was really cool, with the "speaking sackboy", and the strange monster that helps you was wellmade and funny!
The grapich of the level was very wellmade and curated, the mind of the guy was very strange but interesing too. You mixed in an awesome way race, Boss fight, puzzle and mini game. Every part was funny and wellmade, maybe the boss too easy, but i liked it. The minigame was really funny, great use of sticker switch The race and the puzzles were a little hard, but they give chalenge to the level. A little thing to fix: in the "elevator", when i was going in the puzzle section, the switch moved a little itself, the elevator went up and i couldn't finish the level so i had to restart. Try to make the switch more heavy.
The ending was funny, but i think it was better if i can see the H4Her that understand what is realy LBP and try to make a good level. Anyway, awesome level, i gave it 5 stars!
If you can, leave a feedback on my level Sack Quest, the link is in the sign!

Okay Wex...

I need to rescind my earlier post. I left a comment to the same in your level, but at the rate of plays it's currently getting, well...

Not sure if I just figured it out now or if you actually did something to make it easier, but I went in tonight and gave it another try. I was able to finish the race with only two (three??) deaths and quite a bit of time left on the clock! Sorry for giving up on you so easily before.

Great level, sir. Well worth all the hype here and on the Cool Pages! And of course, I love the concept - simply marvelous!

One issue I ran into... on the race (and forgive me if someone has already mentioned this), on both jumping into and out of the car (cool vehicle design, BTW) I got stuck in the chassis underneath the driver's seat. Well, stuck isn't the right word because I was eventually able to wriggle my way back out. But it was a bit frustrating, as I was still on the clock and had cleared all the real danger.

Anyway... nice job. No hard feelings?

Hi Vortex, I took on your feedback along with everybody else's and made a few adjustments. everyone had some very valid points and its great to have people like you and the rest of the gang here to point out ways to improve my level. Its great to hear someone likes your level but when someone also gives you a few suggestions as to how they think it could be improved well then thats what I consider great feedback. When I give people feedback I always try and think of some suggestion (no matter how good the level) as no level is perfect.

I'm definitely not offended. I'm a 29 year old, thick skinned, beer drinking Irish man. Takes a bit more than that to offend me.

Oh and I'll look into the size of the vehicle, thanks you your input.

The introduction was incredible, I loved the opening titles and jumping into the head of the H4Her was just perfect. Great job!

PS It seriously cracks me up every time I see how many H4H comments this level seems to attract.

Just played this and it's good fun. The beginning setup is really well done. "They" constantly think of H4H My favourite bit by a mile was the puzzle. The race was nice and tricky especially the spinning bit. Stickering spots on a face was a little bit out there compared to the rest of the level, but good. The boss seemed simple, I hardly needed to use the cover. considering how many plasma balls where flying round. Ramp at the end was a funny way to end it. 5* hearted. Nicely done.2009-04-21 17:37:00

Played this today (unintentionally xD) Popped onto Cool Levels and there it was, the biggest on page one, didn't realise it was this popular!

Loved the bit at the start, nice snazzy intro ^_^
The puzzle was good too, and the mini-game and race was pretty descent!
I'll be a bit honest here, in the hope that you will understand I'm trying to help your level get even better..

The boss battle I found epic, not epic good, epic boring. I spent most of the battle standing still with my finger on R1, which didn't really amuse me..
Eventually I figured out what I was supposed to be doing, but this didn't stop me from doing the same thing.. because there's little much else you can do..
I'd recommend allowing the players to run around to the back of it and such, maybe give them a few cover objects and such, because frankly, it was pretty boring just staying in the same place.
Minor thing - I got stuck in the quad bike, just above the bottom of the base, got into a teeny tiny crawlspace and it took a long time to get out.. (just above the green line i think?)
Elevator was too slow also imo

I liked the general message of the level, but sadly, I doubt it'll get through to many people, H4H'ers don't really understand reasoning.. so it's really just a level full of diversity for normal players, which is also pretty cool
Sorry to say this, but I was a little disappointed with this level, being the most popular level on LBP atm (as it seems) I was expecting more, but then again, I guess I'm just comparing it to old legends like Azure Palace.. and Ramp.. so, in retrospect, it was a pretty good level
Very well done in getting to first place on cool levels (or so it appeared on my game) and good work on designing a different, interesting level

Just got around to playing this. The introduction was hilarious! I enjoyed the rest of the level as well and the puzzle and the mini-games were probably my favorite parts. The race seemed a bit too difficult and the only other pat I found bothersome was having to go up and down the elevator multiple times. Overall, I loved the concept though and had a good chuckle playing through! Nice job!2009-05-01 02:35:00

Is that because there's H4H in the title?

I loved this level. I liked it how you bashed h4h, but didn't put it in an immature way. Instead of just making fun of h4h all the way through, you shown people 4 types of things you can make with LBP. I really liked the gameplay too. The starting credits were awesome and having 4 different parts was a great idea. I liked the puzzle the most, that was really clever. The ramp tribute at the end was also funny.

Overall 5 stars and a heart. Congrats on getting on the cool levels page a coulple of weeks ago and I hope the message spread to people.

Okay, I tried it and here's my feedback:

I like the concept, how you choose what you want to do and after you're done with everything you can proceed to the scoreboard. I also like how you jump into his head, and the great use of emitters making a thought bubble. Very creative. I also liked the puzzle. It was cool, complicated, and fun; but it was a bit easy. I also liked the minigame. I never thought popping zits could be so fun! I also felt proud when I saw my fake scoreboard in a popular level. :hero:

There are a few things that could be improved. The boss was boring, and very easy. I just stood there and pressed R1 a lot, and I beat it without losing a life. Another thing that could be improved is the race. It looked a bit plain and was WAY too hard with 2 players. The part where you jump up the moving platforms was really hard with a nooby 2nd player with you; so hard I had to turn off his controller. The race was very creative though, you should just make it more 'user-friendly'. At the end, The second player (Dillksp6) tried to finish the level, but when he grabbed the thing you grab, it just broke and we couldn't finish the level.

Overall 5 stars and a heart. Great job!!!
