BACKSTORY

Episode 1

After the world ended a Sackboy emerged from the rubble, with no memory and no idea how he came to be, he set off to find others like himself. While searching the wasteland, he discovered the remnants of the "humans" a race of creatures that once dominated earth.

Now there were none.

Being a nomad had begun to wear on the Sackboy's body, his seams were becoming frayed and though he tried his best to clean his fabric, it never seemed truly clean. Sackboy was depressed but never gave up his search, he found old relics of the humans, books, computers, pictures... their bodies were made of meat, how strange.

The Sackboy carried around the pictures he found, sometimes he would imagine them as his family, cheering him on. It was a lonely existence.

That all changed one day when he discovered a building that seemed to have working electricity. He had heard what sounded like the rupturing of metal, creaking and screaming steel, then sparks and the thwap of electricity. Was he really hearing this? A large black building jutted up from the wasteland, it's side's seemed to be a highly reflective metal, it's middle resembled a giant eyeball, it seemed to be staring directly at the Sackboy.

Without hesitation, Sackboy ran to the large black building, the eye's gaze followed him, it's pupil convulsing as it struggled to keep up with the Sackboy's pace. Bounding over torn metal and broken glass, the clangs of hundreds of broken sprockets twinkled under Sackboy's feet. Though Sackboy was falling apart he was incredibly agile and he almost seemed to glide as he approached the building. The eye grimaced as the Sackboy bounded through an open back door.

Episode 2

Upon entering the building Sackboy came face to face with dozens of eyes. The room was almost entirely pitch-blue. The door shut behind him and the sound of a mechanized lock seemed to hint Sackboy was trapped. Sackboy tried the door and his guess was correct. ****it.

The eyes continued to watch him as he made his way down a long cooridor, he stopped suddenly at a large gap in the floor. A putrid smell wafted upward, he looked down into the hole, it was almost entirely black but he was certain he heard something slivering in the darkness, he jumped over the gap and continued down the hall.

"We thought everyone was dead.." suddenly boomed in Sackboy's ear, where were these voices coming from? Sackboy looked behind him and saw two eye's embedded in the black metal wall, they whispered to one and other, then glared at the Sackboy disapprovingly.

The eyes wondered if the sackboy could really help them. As they watched Sackboy work his way through their old security system, the eyes were becoming more and more impressed with the sackboy. Somehow he was able to get past every obstacle put in his path.

Sackboy looked down at the electrified floor below him, holding his breath, he let go of a large hanging cylinder, . He fell to the ground, the large cylinder swung back in the opposite direction, Sackboy laid on the ground and stared at the ceiling. The cylinder swung back over him, then back out of a view again. He struggled to catch his breath as his stood up, he continued down the long corridor.

It was now or never the eyes decided, they looked at Sackboy. "You've passed our little obstacle course Sackboy." As Sackboy bounded down the hallway, he wondered what he was running to, why was he so drawn to this building? What was drawing him to the end of this hallway?

The eyes finally cut to the chase, "We need your help Sackboy, we are dying". Sackboy stopped in his tracks, he looked at the stream of eyes that covered the wall next to him. They looked down at him sadly. He didn't really understand what was going on, or what this place was.. but how could he say "no"?

To continue the story play episode 3.

EPISODE 19

Sackboy's body is ravaged by his journey, can he make it to Chamber 18?

The series is ending soon. All the questions are being answered and all the pieces are coming together, to deliver, what I hope, will be one of the most satisfying stories in Little Big Planet History.

I, once again, had a great time in this level! I may actually shed a tear once you finish part 20.... this has been a long road, and a fantastic story!

Couple things. I sent you a message on the PSN but wanted to elaborate a tad:

1. When dragging the sackboy across the glass, if he gets stuck on an edge where the blood is on the floor - I had one HECK of a time dragging him further. The first time I played this level it didn't happen, but if you drag him just right and get him stuck.... he is REALLY hard to drag any further. I would definately try smoothing out the floor to get rid of any rough edges here.

2. I'm not sure if this is by design, but the paintinator in the hallway when dragging the sackboy to the right to bring him onto the lift makes it difficult - as I was dragging him past I kept accidentally grabbing the paintinator, then had to jump to the left and push him instead. It was awkward.

3. After I dragged sackboy onto the lift, the lift was slightly going back and forth on the way up and the left side caught on an edge of the left wall - so that the right side went up, dumped me and the sackboy on the ground, and then would never come back down so I had to restart. I would suggest using some REALLY thin invisible dark matter along the left wall so there are no rough edges for the lift to get caught on.

Once again, awesome level.

Went back and played this again, and I had no issues this time. One thing I forgot to mention last time (not as big a deal, but could be a pain) - on the part where you pull the piece of material to the right and it makes the floor bounce you up - this piece of material got in the way last time I played when I was trying to pull the sackboy. Didn't happen this time, but just to let you know.

I gotta mention - even if some don't really *get it* - I totally appreciate what you've done with Core Village. The stickered glass, the lighting, and the really neat characters are intriguing to me. You come up with some great subject matter!

i just played this not to long ago and WHY MAKE A BIG CLIFFHANGER AT THE END!? (sorry about that)

i liked just as much as all the others (which is alot). now you got me all excited about ep. 20. especially the guy at the end. he was kinda creepy. i wanna know what's gonna happen to sackboy, the builder, the eyes, and the core people. i also wanna know how exactly the world ended. you better answer all that or i'll be very mad.

anyways back to ep. 19. i like how you been making the later episodes more story driven.i'm glad the core people are ok but i wonder if anything is gonna happen to them after sackboy enter chamber 18. and was the thing that killed the 2 core people the virus from before? really well made like before i'll be waiting for episode 20.

also 2 things i want to mention. the elevator that ativated when you put the... body on it. it works fine but i accidentally fell off it without the body and i got stuck at the bottom and had to restart.

more in next post...

...at the part that shoots the red laser balls. it didn't ativate my first play though because i didn't drag the body far enough before i started shooting. so i didn't even have fight it.

i think you should fix those parts.

(and sorry for making this in 2 posts but my ps3 wouldn't let me make anymore lines on the first one)

Wow, my post has been resurrected from the dead! I was so sad when it fell back so far so fast.

Thanks for the comments. Those two issues are issues I've had too. I'd forgotten about dragging sackboy into that chamber though, I gotta go back and fix that!

This episode was, in a lot of ways, setting up for the final epsiode. It was kind of bringing all the main characters together and setting up the finale. The builder, The eyes, the people from chamber 10, the priest, the hindleast, autonomicon, they all big parts of the ending.

And yes, that was the virus that killed the two people in one of the chambers.

Gah I wish more people would play these levels. I have been going back and fixing the other levels, updating them to be more consistent with everything.

I just updated episode 1 and 2 and changed them quite a bit, I'm actually thinking of posting episode 1 in it's own topic.

But yeah... 1 episode left. Everything should be wrapped up by the end of the level.. but I'm also creating an animated episode 21 that will truly finish off the series. If anyone has seen any of my animations, you probably know it's gunna be insane...

Thanks for checking back and replying to this, it means a lot, most people just skim over these episodes, I love getting feedback

well then i'll be waitin for 2 episodes then. also i'm gonna check out the first 2 to see what you changed. i seriously can't imagine what the animated episode is gonna be like. (because i have seen every episode of the series with your computer is going insane and smite going around killing everyone) so i can't wait to see episode 21 and play 20. seriously i can't. finish them now!

but what i don't get is why not many people like it. but atleast you know you defiantly got a big fan of LBA. (me)

I think people just assume it will suck if there are a lot of levels for it. I'm happy you like it so much I'm also releasing 2 episodes of Reboot pretty soon(my flash series).

Once the entire series is complete, I seriously think we need to find a way to promote it. Problem is, the normal way in LBP by republishing a lot will not work because this level series is intellectually beyond the general kiddie-players.2009-04-23 06:30:00
