Endurance Temple (Survival Challenge)

hey guys id appreciate it if you could check out my level. its called "Endurance Temple (Survival Challenge)" and you can search for that or "aclockworkgeorge" which is my PSN.

the goal is to collect the most points while avoiding the dropping spikes. eventually flaming objects start to fall and it gets really difficult but still fun.

Just played it. Got second place, and so close to first, hehe. It was fun.

Some comments:

- The flaming objects should give a longer warning when entering the level. For example, fall from higher distance.

- You should add more layer to your level, to encourage certain strategies. An example: You could consider to allow the point bubbles to stay alive for a longer period of time, implying a strategy of pilling up point bubbles and hereby increase point multiplier upon collection. IMO, challenge levels will only get really addictive, if they encourage simple strategies.

Update: Yay! I beat your high score.. After playing the level again a bunch of time, I realize that there are some multiplier strategies going on.. I like it. You still might consider adjusting the point bubble alive-time.

thanks for the review. i got a similar comment on littlebigworkshop about the flaming objects and the points so i made the objects fall from higher and the points last an infinite time so you could run across and get multipliers. im going to go check out your level now.2009-04-13 14:45:00

I dont know about the points getting infinite time.. It changes everything, so be careful. I actually found some rather tricky ways to gather all eight points within the old timeframe, and it were really satisfying when I got a good point streak going on. Be careful about giving them infinite time, because then the easiest way to get points is to stand still in a corner as long as possible before collecting the points. And you certainly do not want that to be the most effecient strategy!? It should pay off taking some risky fast runs sweeping the level for points - it should be all about risk and reward.2009-04-13 15:00:00

i usually don't like survival challenges, but then i got all competitive trying to beat your score xD

i agree with what carl said, it'd be nice if the point bubbles lasted a bit longer so you could save them up and get a bigger combo

also i think the fire should appear less frequently as well as a lot higher up
you only get about a second to run past it once it dissolves which was kind of annoying

overall it's a fun level ^^

found a bug!!

i waited about 10 minutes before pressing the button and the point bubbles started appearing but the spikes never did. i don't think the fire was working either

thanks for checking it out. i made the fire drop from higher but left the point bubbles the same cause theres one way to get all 8 if you get the pattern of the spikes right. i dont know what caused the points to appear after 10 minutes but nothing else. i wont be able to check it out for like 4 weeks cause im away at school so for now all i can say is dont do it haha. thanks for the input.2009-04-13 23:32:00

I checked this out the other night and it's pretty good. I really like the look of the level. The materials and stickers and even the lighting look nice. The ramping up is pretty good too. The shadows kind of give away where the spikes are going to be but when they start really moving it gets a little hard (that's the point though - right.)

I'm not a big survival level player for the most part but this one was fun. Thanks for sharing it!

hey thanks a bunch. i tweaked the lighting and fog to make it look a little different. glad you noticed yea i agree about the shadows but i dont mind because it lets you get used to the spikes and then the fire makes it real tough.2009-04-16 01:45:00
