Video Capturing [720P HD]

Archive: 41 posts

Hey everyone,

I just got my new birthday present and its AWESOME. I got the Blackmagic Intensiy Pro, a 1080p HD capture card.. I can finally record crystal sharp HD LBP videos for youtube! I've always wanted to upload a 720p video to youtube. =D.

I recorded one of DarknessBear's levels:
YouTube - [LBP Level] DarknessBear - The Tales Of Pirate Sweeney [720P HD]

That was an edited .mp4 file. Here is what a raw M2TS file would like like:
YouTube - Stormy Weather Effect Generator [720P HD]

I suggest you open the video in a new youtube window (by clicking it) because you get a full widescreen. Don't forget to click 'HD'!

I don't think there is much difference, since the bit rates are kept the same.

What do you guys use to record? Was the intensity pro the best option for HD recording?

Dan.
P.S: If you want your video recorded in 720p, i'm happy to do it.

That's pretty cool. Video looks crisp, especially the words when you try to read. That's a nice birthday present

So it's a piece of hardware you put into your computer right? Then you have to plug it into the TV? I've been curious how this works...

This little gadget slots into your computer, and connects directly to the PS3 via an HDMI cable. From there, you can record really good HD videos directly to your PC. -

Yeah, I was concerned about the protection too, but it seems to work with LBP - haven't tried DVD's or anything though.2009-04-12 18:47:00

Hm.. anyway. I also got my eyes on this thing earlier and came up with this (http://www.hauppauge.com/site/products/data_hdpvr.html) after the HDCP confusion.

But i doubt that i will get it soon

Hey but congrats to your present.

I have both the Hauppauge HD PVR & Intensity Pro (since I use the intensity pro for the PS3 and HD PVR for Sky HD) and I have to say - the Intensity Pro gives much more crystal clear results. The PVR is also very good for record HD though.2009-04-12 18:52:00

There is a small bug on youtube that if you click 'HD' half way through the video, it is really laggy. So you need to press HD and then rewind the video to the very start to watch it without lag. Or just follow this link:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0n2tNGNZ6w&fmt=22

Auto-HD.
Remove the [rawlink] tags since I can't post a youtube URL without it embedding it.

Awesome man!

I've been wanting to get a HD capture card for a while, but they aren't cheap, are they?

How much was yours?

Alex.

PS. When you record, do you preview it live on your computer, or is the signal split between your PC and TV somehow?

I use the GeForce 9800 GTX. Just checked out your Graphics Card - yeah, it should be able to handle that. Anything with a 1GB+ should be alright.

I got mine for about ?290 (about $425.) Yeah, they aren't cheap these days.

I actually use a splitter because I prefer to play it on my TV (theres a small delay between the TV screen and the PC screen) but yeah you can preview it live on your computer as you record.

Wait, so do you have to have cable or satellite? Does it matter if the tv is hd or not?2009-04-12 19:17:00

Satellite, and no you don't have to have a HD tv. I haven't tried to loop it through to a non-HD tv but you can record directly to your PC as HD.2009-04-12 19:20:00

The Intensity Pro card is amazing. (exactly the card I own). If you go on the thread for The Banana Horde you can see the video I captured for it.

The only downfall to it is that it can record quite anything EXCEPT something in 480p and this doesn't make a lick of sense.

The card is on your PCI slot but its having a Component Cables and HDMI inputs and outputs. This means you can plug your PS3 directly into it.

You can even plug your PS3 in Composite Cables if you want but the video output (yellow) needs to be plugged in the green video input only. I sure do hope you're not playing your PS3 in Composite though...

Composite really does look CRAP compared to HD these days. I tried to play LBP in SD while using composite cables and 4:3. It looks REALLY bad.2009-04-14 19:25:00

There's actually a plug called "multi out" on the PS3. This is where you plug the proprietary Composible or Component Cables. You can even use the ones of the PS2. Also, you don't have a choice to have the Composite Cables because it's packaged with the PS3.

I didn't read all your previous post but if it was about the fear of not being able to capture with the Intensity Pro card, don't worry because there's an HDMI input.

This is still losing me sorry..i build pc's but i cannot understand Electrics..

Right so in leymans terms..

Card in pc. VGA into the card and a small HDMI cable into the hdmi port on the ps3..

It's just the picture has millions of round cables on it..

The ps2 cable (what i refer to as AV) i plugged into my stereo to get good audio but only the red and white.. obviously. (the cable is just Red white yellow)

I tried recording stuff in 420 by taking the yellow part i hadnt plugged in to my stereo and plugging it into my av slot on the dv cam.. but the only prob is that my cam pciked up nothing when i swithched the PS3 to av cable..

I just wanna record.. 420p is fine.. my cam has a slot marked av.. what can i do?

hmm, I know about the PS3 but not about your cam. I can't really help you there.

But let me just give you some usefull and easy to remember info:

- That cable (yellow, white and red ends) is called "Composite Cable". It's analog cables that can shoot an image in up to 480i of resolution.

- I = interlaced image signal. P = Progressive image signal. "Composite Cables" cannot send any progressive signals. "Component Cables" and "HDMI cables" can.

- That cable (blue, green, red, white and another red for sound) is called "Component Cables". It's the best analog cables you can have. It can shoot an image in up to 1080p of resolution. It obviously send both interlaced and progressive signals.

Well here is a pic of my cam.

http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s249/wracc2/DSC00127.jpg

There is a round port marked av which i have a cable for which has Yellow and white on one end and a black one that goes into the cam.

I cant figure where i plug the yellow and white cables as theres no Audio/video output White/yellow on my tv or the ps3 ..

What are actually intending to do? You simply want to output your stuff in your TV?

If that's the case, your TV should have a input for Composite Cables (yellow, red, white). Just plug your stuff in there, doesn't matter there's no red ended wire. The sound will be mono though.

no silly I want to Record the ps3 using the PS3/TV output whith my digicam.

I can get it so the tv uses the cam screen as an input.. i'ts just like a 32" Display of what your pointing it at. I just want to use the tv as the output and the cam as the input.

In this case I would need to know about digicams like yours... and I don't.

I record my PS3 with my Intensity Pro but i've always been curious if I could capture with a cam. If you ever know please tell me.

Hey, Over at LBW, Sackboy 223 has VERY nice quality vids, they look just like you in the game!

Does anyone know what camera he uses?

Ok... that was pretty random...
Why could or should it matter here if people from other forums can record stuff...?
Pretty usless necro if you ask me.

It might be useful to see the various alternatives that people choose to use or prefer to do their video capturing work. The more input people have on what they should use if they want to record, the better. Just because someone is on a different forum does not mean that they won't have information that could be beneficial to someone on the LBPCentral Forum.
