Wobble Bolt Trouble

Archive: 8 posts

In my new level, I have a Wolf boss. his hind legs are glued to the ground, and they are connected to the body by a wobble bolt. I have an on/off mag switch connected to it so when it is on, the wolf rears up on his hind legs, then goes back down, and repeats. Everthing works fine, but when the switch is off, the wobble bolt creeps up. By that I mean, the body will start in the all fours position, but will slowly rear up on his hind legs.

I have no clue why this is happening, because it happens when the switch is off!

Wait, you glued the legs to the floor? that might be why, remember, try adjusting your wobble bolt(s) before gluing anything to the ground, as it might need tweaking, first make sure everything is moving as it should, then glue, also keep in mind that some other part you didn't want to got glued to the leg, floor or background and might be causing the preoblem(s).2009-04-11 22:01:00

What material is the wolf made out of? I have found that when wobble bolts act weird if I change the material to something strong (like metal) they will start acting more predictably. With cardboard and stuff like that you get a lot of "slop".2009-04-12 18:59:00

Same with dissolve material - that is the WORST material to pin anything against. It just can't handle the weight.2009-04-12 19:00:00

If only there was an option to make springs stronger...

I made a couple of vehicles with springs for shock absorbers and the springs always die if they hit anything too fast. XD

I suppose this could be fixed by using multiple springs, though. Or just decreasing its weight overall, though wood for a vehicle isn't THAT heavy, and if its too light it will explode anyways.

And yes, try a sturdier material.

The wolf is made entirely of cardboard, with some dissolve glued to hit for paintinator targets. The wolf is not connected to the ground (grass sponge) but is glued to a small piece of grass sponge, which is put on top of, and not connected to the ground. What is holding the wolf up is an invisible piece of dark matter put in the achilles tendon on the leg. Its not connected to the ground so that when all paintinator targets have been destroyed, the protected brains on the wolf are destroyed, dissolving the wolf.

Should I change the leg or the body to another material?

Since it's all cardboard, I'll say yes. I think you'll find that when you change the material you get different behaviors out of your wobble bolts and stuff like that.

I changed the body to wood, and it worked perfectly! It didn't rise up! Problem solved. Thanks!
