The Diving Bell and The Butterfly

Anyone else see this movie? I just got finished watching this movie and it's so sad. I don't want to give away anything but it's based on the true life events of 1995 editor (for Elle Magazine i think) and his condition and struggle. This movie really makes you appreciate how fragile life is and how people need to live life to the fullest and do what ever it is that makes them the happiest because tomorrow may not always be promised. Sorry to bring everyone down just thought i would share.2009-04-11 03:20:00

Incredible coincidence! My family and I were just watching this movie yesterday night. Looks good so far, right now we're about 36% through it.2009-04-11 03:23:00

Incredible movie! Some may be squeamish about the subject matter, but it's handled so elegantly, and is never played to exploit fears or shock. For anyone who doesn't know, it's about Locked-In Syndrome, which is essentially complete paralysis. You're awake and totally lucid and aware of your surroundings, but your body is completely paralyzed. In this case, he can only move one thing on his body - a single eye.

It's an incredibly moving story, and it's amazing that it's so uplifting for such an achingly sad story. The filmmaking is interesting too. I don't want to say anything else for fear of spoiling it, but don't be squeamish about the subject matter, just dive in and it's a beautiful film.

I remember really liking the camera work in this movie, and thinking it was good but not great...other than that all I can remember is I was surprised they got a PG-13 rating when there are two shots with nudity(male and female).2009-04-25 09:00:00
