LCD tv burn in

Archive: 23 posts

Yesterday was the first day of my 2 weeks holidays and i had a bit of an epic LBP creation session... I dont know it might have been 9 or 10 hours.... the problem is when i finished and went to watch tv. I noticed that the creation help text that appears at the bottom of the screen well the white cloud typ shape had burned in.... luckily it faded away after about 30 mins.

My sugestion: option to turn off help text in creation mode. (i dont need it i know the controls and some times it gets in the way too.)

(And a badge to pin on the chest to the first person who says maybe you shouldn't play the game that long)

misleading title but I agree it is annoying...at the very least they could make it so when you're selecting what one of those camera points are looking at everything else which you wouldn't normally see (thermo, control bubble) disappears so you can actually see what you're going to see.2009-04-10 22:31:00

This NEEDS to be an option. I hate the help text on the screen and I have heard people talk about the burn from create mode before. I think the thermometer is one of the problems mentioned too

Also, play as long as you want, I say

Well I bought my first HD TV yesterday actually and it's only a 20" Samsung. I got it to replace my PC screen so that I can use my PC and PS3 on the same screen.
Didn't actually think about screen burn until I just read this thread.
As I'm using it for my PC and it is on nearly all day. Then I can see that I might get problem with the task bar at the bottom of the screen being on so many hours

From what i know LCD are supposed to be kinda burn in free while plasmas were the ones that would have problems. I use my LCD all the time and had never have had a problem both 42 inch tv and 24 and 20 inch dual monitors set up for my computer.2009-04-11 02:22:00

Man do i hate that thing, even more as i have to zoom in on the screen size, that thing doesn't go out of sight when i do it, instead it gets more in the way
We shall rant untill we have eliminated that annoying little cloud.! >:O

Yeah, the help bubble is very annoying. However, I don't have an lcd or plasma screen tv, so it's not really a problem.
The thermometer dosen't really distract me. I can create fine with it.

I've never heard of LCDs burning images in, mine never has (it's HD, if that makes a difference).2009-04-11 14:18:00

Progresive Scan Tv's sometimes "Burn"

1080p is progressive 1080i Isrubbish

There should be an Advanced setting to delete the hud.

Ugh, why didn't they include an option to hide it in the first place
seems like a kinda obvious thing to do if you ask me.

Can I have the exact model name of your TV? You sure it's LCD?

It's supposed to be ridiculously hard to burn in a LCD screen.

Modern LCDs are very hard to burn in. (Plasmas on the other hand...) You can get burn-in on a modern LCD but it goes away if you turn it off for a couple minutes and turn it back on.2009-04-13 01:23:00

If I ever have anything burned into my TV, I just leave it on white noise for a while and eventually it fades away.2009-04-13 01:25:00

Do any new TVs even have white noise? My 32" LCD doesn't, haha.

Haha. It actually has a 'test' screen which you can choose between a PAL test card and just plain white noise.2009-04-13 01:47:00

This is a LittleBigProblem for me ^_^...I'm playing on a 50" plasma and I have to run the white burn-protection screen almost every night after long create sessions...Recently, I've been switching the screen format from 'just scan' (native image size) to 16:9, so it shifts the white text box down more towards the bottom - to offset the burned part!! They should address this...2009-04-13 03:25:00

Well, on your specific case it's because of the tech your TV uses (plasma pixels). You can't do much for that.
Also, plasma TV are slowly getting better, you "burn in" should be momentary. It's pretty **** annoying though. That's why I prefer LCDs personally.

Yeah... I really hate that white help box... its waaay too big and always gets in the way. The Thermo also, its so chunky, they could have made a lot more discreet.2009-04-13 16:28:00

There are many changes that could be done to improve the editor. For one thing, if the camera could angle itself EVEN MORE to the side, so you could select objects behind things more easily, that would be great. Or if there was an option to make objects unselectable and invisible until you use another tool on them, so you can select things behind them and such.

But no game is perfect. Hopefully updates improve the game, though.

9 to 10 hours!? No wonder..
Don't you get a feeling of wasting an entire day?
I get annoyed with myself for topping 3 hours..
I think i'd curl into a ball of self-hate after 10 hours xD
