A sig tutorial by Marklin!

Archive: 18 posts

Hi!
After a request (and some convincing) from OliT i decided to create a tutorial for one of my sigs.

EDIT: I forgot to write this (and probably a lot more) in the tutorial, during that very last step of the tutorial i also sharpened the renders face using a normal large soft brush and the sharpen tool.

If you try it out be sure to post your outcome in this thread!
Feedback is also greatly appreciated.

Really nicely put together as well. Thank you Marklin, I will post my version when I'm done. =]

I was wondering, could you post the C4D you used so I and other people can use it for their version?

Thanks!

HeHe, lucky, i'm pretty sure this is all pretty basic stuff you see in this tutorial , I think it's waaay more complex than just this.

Thats the link you wanted, it may be a little late though, you've probably already picked a render of your own.
BTW to view the full size version of the render so that you can save it to your computer in full size png you need to be a member on the site.

Nice, love the green hue and the distortion round the shield; only annoyance is the 't' on knight is right next to a dark area but that's me looking for bad stuff

Marklin, mind making a tutorial for animated signatures? Would really like the jazz up my signature but renders alone won't get the effect I want .

I have an idea - why don't you make this into say a fortnightly (is that a word) thing - you could give a different tutorial every two weeks - with your skill i am sure you could help a lot of people, good job =]2009-04-10 20:12:00

I would love to start making sigs again - that might just help me do it =] Don't feel pressured to do it of course, it's just a suggestion =]2009-04-11 00:15:00

That's awesome, you went your own way a little, which is really great.
I love the color and the render. What i think i would have done differently was to remove the scan lines from the render, but that is entirely personal so what you have done is not "wrong" in any way. Also you kind of missed the shining magma things which was the point with my sig, but just like i just said, it's great that you make your own interpretation of the sig, that's the reason i made the tutorial, to inspire people, and maybe learn them new techniques.

Marklin, mind making a tutorial for animated signatures? Would really like the jazz up my signature but renders alone won't get the effect I want .If you only want to know how i did you can have a look in my artwork thread, somewhere on page 3/4 i posted how i created the animation effect in the sig i have now.

I have an idea - why don't you make this into say a fortnightly (is that a word) thing - you could give a different tutorial every two weeks - with your skill i am sure you could help a lot of people, good job =]Well, i don't know about making it some sort of event that people are looking forward to, i don't feel like i want to take responsibility for such a thing, but i can assure you that this will almost certainly not be the last tutorial i will make.

BTW: judging from the amount of people who have posted here i am still waiting on about 3 more sigs inspired by this tutorial , so keep 'em coming.

Thanks for the compliments for the sig Marklin. What do you mean by the "magma" effects?2009-04-11 10:51:00

Maybe i should have made that more clear, i meant the brighter parts of the background. But if you had put that in your sig it would probably looked wrong, at least if you kept the "mood " (i don't really know how to put it... The feeling your sig has...) you have now. 2009-04-11 12:41:00

Thanks Olit and Marklin off to improve my sig.

EDIT: Wootage it works!! Went for the Sacrifice signature over the Messiah one I had previously. Trouble was getting the renders when all I had was the Stratos one and had to make the rest.
