A sig tutorial by Marklin!
Archive: 18 posts
Hi! After a request (and some convincing) from OliT i decided to create a tutorial for one of my sigs. EnjoY http://img518.imageshack.us/img518/8127/tutorial.png EDIT: I forgot to write this (and probably a lot more) in the tutorial, during that very last step of the tutorial i also sharpened the renders face using a normal large soft brush and the sharpen tool. If you try it out be sure to post your outcome in this thread! Feedback is also greatly appreciated. | 2009-04-10 08:07:00 Author: Marklin80 Posts: 458 |

YESH!!!!! Tis' done! Woooot! Yay! Horah! Really nicely put together as well. Thank you Marklin, I will post my version when I'm done. =] I was wondering, could you post the C4D you used so I and other people can use it for their version? | 2009-04-10 09:55:00 Author: olit123 Posts: 1341 |
Thanks! HeHe, lucky, i'm pretty sure this is all pretty basic stuff you see in this tutorial , I think it's waaay more complex than just this. Olit: http://planetrenders.net/renders/displayimage.php?pos=-21690 Thats the link you wanted, it may be a little late though, you've probably already picked a render of your own. BTW to view the full size version of the render so that you can save it to your computer in full size png you need to be a member on the site. | 2009-04-10 16:49:00 Author: Marklin80 Posts: 458 |
Gah, that site is being ***. It says that I need to log in when I already am!! Reckon you could upload your version of it? | 2009-04-10 17:16:00 Author: olit123 Posts: 1341 |
Nope, sorry but at the moment i'm at my grandparents house to celebrate easter, so i have to use an old and slow mac, which i have no idea of how to use... | 2009-04-10 18:03:00 Author: Marklin80 Posts: 458 |
Finished! Here is my outcome... http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/cc305/Blackray1/signatures/The_Knight.jpg What do you think? | 2009-04-10 19:16:00 Author: olit123 Posts: 1341 |
Finished! Here is my outcome... What do you think? Nice, love the green hue and the distortion round the shield; only annoyance is the 't' on knight is right next to a dark area but that's me looking for bad stuff Marklin, mind making a tutorial for animated signatures? Would really like the jazz up my signature but renders alone won't get the effect I want . | 2009-04-10 19:46:00 Author: Shermzor Posts: 1330 |
I have an idea - why don't you make this into say a fortnightly (is that a word) thing - you could give a different tutorial every two weeks - with your skill i am sure you could help a lot of people, good job =] | 2009-04-10 20:12:00 Author: Unknown User |

Yaar, that would be super Marklin. | 2009-04-10 21:28:00 Author: olit123 Posts: 1341 |
I would love to start making sigs again - that might just help me do it =] Don't feel pressured to do it of course, it's just a suggestion =] | 2009-04-11 00:15:00 Author: Unknown User |
Argh!!! Same problem as Olit. Did you solve it and how? | 2009-04-11 00:20:00 Author: Shermzor Posts: 1330 |
Yes I did solve it. Just refresh the page. | 2009-04-11 00:34:00 Author: olit123 Posts: 1341 |
Finished! Here is my outcome... http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/cc305/Blackray1/signatures/The_Knight.jpg What do you think? That's awesome, you went your own way a little, which is really great. I love the color and the render. What i think i would have done differently was to remove the scan lines from the render, but that is entirely personal so what you have done is not "wrong" in any way. Also you kind of missed the shining magma things which was the point with my sig, but just like i just said, it's great that you make your own interpretation of the sig, that's the reason i made the tutorial, to inspire people, and maybe learn them new techniques. Marklin, mind making a tutorial for animated signatures? Would really like the jazz up my signature but renders alone won't get the effect I want .If you only want to know how i did you can have a look in my artwork thread, somewhere on page 3/4 i posted how i created the animation effect in the sig i have now. I have an idea - why don't you make this into say a fortnightly (is that a word) thing - you could give a different tutorial every two weeks - with your skill i am sure you could help a lot of people, good job =]Well, i don't know about making it some sort of event that people are looking forward to, i don't feel like i want to take responsibility for such a thing, but i can assure you that this will almost certainly not be the last tutorial i will make. BTW: judging from the amount of people who have posted here i am still waiting on about 3 more sigs inspired by this tutorial , so keep 'em coming. | 2009-04-11 10:48:00 Author: Marklin80 Posts: 458 |
Thanks for the compliments for the sig Marklin. What do you mean by the "magma" effects? | 2009-04-11 10:51:00 Author: olit123 Posts: 1341 |
Maybe i should have made that more clear, i meant the brighter parts of the background. But if you had put that in your sig it would probably looked wrong, at least if you kept the "mood " (i don't really know how to put it... The feeling your sig has...) you have now. | 2009-04-11 12:41:00 Author: Marklin80 Posts: 458 |
Thanks Olit and Marklin off to improve my sig. EDIT: Wootage it works!! Went for the Sacrifice signature over the Messiah one I had previously. Trouble was getting the renders when all I had was the Stratos one and had to make the rest. | 2009-04-11 14:55:00 Author: Shermzor Posts: 1330 |
