How games are destroyed in germany..

Archive: 11 posts

Hey you guys in the east
Maybie you don't know how hard games are censored in germany.. pretty hard... but that's not enough, just look:

http://img55.imageshack.us/img55/8471/61v6mstwpulss400yv9.jpg

That huge as big as a manatee ugly red thing... just terrible!
There are often very beautiful cover... but the red thing destroys it -.-
But not only that, games are censored if you shot at something that looks like or human, or is a human. I'm pretty glad, that GTA IV is uncensored!

And Fallout 3 will also be censored:

Definitiv ist der Gore-Gehalt des Spiels betroffen, das bedeutet f?r uns: keine K?rperteile die abgetrennt werden k?nnen und keine platzende K?pfe.

Ob noch weitere Zensuren n?tig sind ist noch unklar.

Translated:

The gore in this game will definitively be censored. No body party to cut off, no exploding heads. If there are more censored things, is not sure yet.

Well, I will import things from Austria in future.. but it's just stupid!!

If you didn't understand anything just ask
And tell me your opinion... feel free to reply.

I didn't say America was better than England, I'm just glad I don't have to get censored games.

Indiana, any idea on why censorship is that bad over there? I mean, if Austria is cool with heads being blown off, why isn't Germany?

This is why I'm thankful to live in America... Freedom of Speech ftw. (though some books have been censored... but I don't read political books. I just listen. )2008-08-24 17:32:00

Isn't England just a tad stricter than America?
There are small censorships that are thrown into some games.

Sometimes less gory effects and the likes...

Meh, still pays off to live in an underestimated "third world" country that's counted as Region 2, yet still gets games from the US.

Heh, America doesn't censor violence, but it does censor sex pretty **** strictly. So censorship is ripe all around the world, really.

I don't really care much about censoring either in videogames, though. As long as substantial parts of the content / story isn't cut off.

Agreed. If all they take out is extra gore, I really don't care one way or the other.

I'd hate it if I was forced to play the german version of TF2 or Half-Life.

I mean.... Half-life 1, people don't die! They sit down and have a rest!!!

Well lets all hope America never becomes like this, but if the democrates start taking over don't think it can't happen. Look how Hillary Clinton reacted on the Hot Coffee scene.2008-08-27 22:44:00
