World Of Warcraft

Just an FYI if there is an existing thread please link it here for me because I searched over 20 pages and didn't find anything.

But anyways, Anyone here play it. I realise there is a small chance that you would be on my server and probably still a chance you would be on UK instead of the US one I'm on. I just recently started playing again and I have some real life friends who are all on my server.

Well if you did ever decide to start playing, let me know and I can tell you what server I'm on and everything. So I can help you out; it would be fun to play with some more people I knew.2009-04-03 21:23:00

I played this game for about a month, and got incredibely bored. It's just sooo repetetive in my opinion, and slow paced... Quests are irritating because they're almost always a 5 minutes walk away and I'd rather not sit there holding up on the arrow key for 5 minutes, then hold it again to go back.

I dunno, it was fun for the first 2 weeks, then it got boring for me. Can't see how this game ruins peoples lives...

Yeah I was an Undead Mage on Bloodscalp called 'Sherminator' and no I haven't seen the movie.

Got to level 70 and quit because raids took way too long and it just wasn't fun to grind daily quests.

Was thinking of getting into WAR but I really can't be arsed right now.

LOL!!! num lock my friend, it helps plus after level 30 you can get mounts and eventually flying mounts.

The reason I started to play was because my roommate was playing and wanted to try it out too. Unfortunately I really suck at it mainly because I don't do dungeons but I'm on Rexar realm for anyone else that might be.

it can get pretty addicting when you get to a higher end of the game. It's because the raids* require extreme cordination between a large group of people; it's very challenging. That's why I like it so much, I also pick the classes that are most challenging. But it may be sort of slow paced right away; having to walk around and what not. It is important to pick a class that you will like though, because they all have their own unique spin on it.

It is really as hard core as you make it. I quit a few times, and the last time I did it was for about 5 months or so and a friend talked me into coming back. Him and I even ran our own guild*for about a year; which is even more challenging.

But like I was saying, it's pretty much as hardcore as you want it to be although, the raiding usually requires you get into a guild that orginizes raids; and the guild may have a set requirement for how many raids you have to make if you want to be in the guild.

Raids/ing:Raiding is an instanced off zone (A zone that is pre-setup and no one else but the party can go in and kill things) which is full of computer controlled characters. There is what's called trash (pretty much just different kinds of computer controlled units that will require some strategy.) But the biggest thing is the bosses. They are usually really technical and change throughout the fight. Which requires voice communication over the internet for fast responses.

Guild: Pretty much an orginization run by a group of people (usually). They tend to plan raids together since the raids either require 10-25 people.

PS: I'm on the Skywall Server and I play on the Horde side.

I've lived trapped in an online game before for some time and I don't fancy doing it again.
It felt great to be free from its addiction and to be able to live my real life

What's your character name Ham? I just started playing because Bloodflamex made me. My highest right now is a level 37 warlock, so it's not too much trouble for me to switch servers.2009-04-06 07:46:00

Alright cool dude. I'll add you on there. I have a 70 rogue (Hezzani) / mage (Inazzeh) too. And my priest (Hamsalad) is 73...Just got my warrior (Teroob) to 70 too. I was playing before the expansion came out and just started up again recently. I'm pretty keen to my warrior now, protections pretty fun. I'll add you on there, you can add all my guys if you want too lol . Most likely I'll be on Teroob though or Hamsalad2009-04-06 19:29:00

I use to play this game, but it did go very quiet a few months before the latest expansion came out. I was on a quiet(ish) server, Norgannon (US) and several raid guilds were all falling apart as all the top players were transferring or leaving the game. There were not that many top players to begin with on that server anyway, so the general quality of people got small and poor overall.

I had my credit card expire around 1 month before the expansion released, which meant my automated payment to the account was cancelled. It was a very difficult process to sort out what was going on, for some reason I could not update the account information easily. By the time I had sorted things out I was on a game card that was just about to expire. They had just released the pre-expansion patch with the new talent trees, and spending multiple hours to stabalise my characters and work out talent builds just had no appeal what-so-ever.

I think I had 4 70s and another 60 something. If I ever was to go back I would likely transfer, but the idea of spending so many hours to sort out the characters on my account, work out the transfer, re-learn talent trees and current strategies, work out the new content and it's implications from the expansion, as well as make new friends and work out new guilds...

Well, you can hopefully see my reluctance to return. It would likely take 20-40 hours to get everything back to what it was before that credit card mess up, in terms of learning the game and re-establishing player networks. That just does not have a huge amount of appeal to me.

That's something not everyone understands. A player's reputation among other players is important, especially if you want to get into the better guilds. But that's another story again.

Anyway, I was Alliance. I don't actually know any current Alliance players at the moment. Everyone nowadays has no taste and plays the smelly Horde. It's such a shame...

I've always played the Horde ever since I started. It's really not that hard to re-learn dude. I quit before the talent revamp even. It's pretty much still the same; they just added the 51 point talent. It's really pretty simple.

The harder part would be one of the things you listed. Networking / finding friends. That is also achievable but I know what you mean it would take some time. IMO roll Horde-Skywall and chill w/ Code and I and some of my RL friend...That would be uber. A few of my friends just started brand new; if code decides to level that guy he will be a nooby there too.

I know what you mean about the reputation thing as well. My reputation is pretty good. My friend always trolls the WOW forums and stuff like that and got caught doing it before. And I never want to partipate and he always asks why I don't and says stuff like "why is it going to hurt your e-rep?"

I understand some people like trolling and stuff but I like my reputation on there since commuicating with people is pretty much half or more of the game

I loved horde; could never get into Alliance because they were so boring and I just loved Orgrimmar's flightpaths over the desert.

Really wanted to make a guild called 'I'm feelin hordey' (I swear I've already said that somewhere ).

I used to play this way back before the BC expansion. I'll never play it again, I just level up too fast at these things and then don't have the time to get uber gear to PVP so the endgame gets bleh.

I've played both Alliance and Horde side, neither is inherently stronger or less boring. I had a few lvl 60s and mainly played a lvl 60 druid on the alliance side... I loved being a druid.

From what I understand though you are using a UK server though. Australians use the US/Oceanic servers, and don't normally even get to see the European ones.

Even if I did wish to return to that game, there would be no way I could join your server.

I'm not hyper keen on re-rolling either. I have I think a level 30, 20 and a few 10ish horde characters, but it really does take a while to get to 80. The fastest way I guess would be to use a Death Knight and start at 55, but from what little I had read of them before they were released, they did not really appeal to me much. Although I have a 70 warlock, I tend to hate him. I'm pretty sure the Death Knight would fall into a similar boat.

Sorry I haven't been active on your server. I've been playing on my Warlock in an attempt to get to level 55 and unlock the Death Knight so I can join your server at a higher level.2009-04-12 00:17:00

I was addicted to this for months, but then when my friends stopped playing, I found it to be extremely shallow and boring in the end. Well, not shallow, as there are a lot of options. But the combat system was just...I don't know, wasn't to my liking. Every spell homing and such isn't fun to me. Having arrows fly through trees to hit you isn't fun to me either.2009-04-15 16:56:00

What made you stop again? I've been vaguely considering restarting my account, and am curious as to what brought you to give up this game once again.

IDK....It just didnt pull me in like I thought it was going to again. Just same leveling pretty much. I think normally I had some motivation to level up, this time I just felt like I had no reason to level up and it just didnt stay that fun 2009-04-27 05:43:00

If you like world of warcraft, look into Aion: The Tower of Eternity. I've been following it for months, its a P2P MMO with amazing graphics, better gameplay than WoW, some cool systems within it, a better quest system, castle battles, and characters have limited flight and aerial combat. It looks really well polished, and its being made for both eastern and western audiences; the english version won't be out for a while I think though. Havn't looked.

I'm probably staying away from MMOs for a long long time. They just don't interest me too greatly, neither do RPG games, except the occasional one which amazes me.
