You will easier get comments, if you do F4F (feedback for feedback). But sure, I'll check it out later today.

If you feel like it, check out my level: "Save Die Reload!", PSN: "CarlsenJeppe".

Played your level.

Some comments:

- Don't build your level on the level frame. It really does stick out in your level, due to it's out of place material.

- You reused your enemies too much, and they took too long to kill. It honestly got a bit repetitive.

- Your enemies suffered from a usual problem in paintinator based levels. E.g. the tank boss. I simply took it out from a long safe distance, which really took away any sense of danger..

Otherwise, good work. Keep it up.

I realised after i made it, lol.. Im still getting used to it and didnt think of making the floor out of stone... Ive tried to redo it but its difficult once youve finished it.

In my defense, lol.. Its Terminator... Theres loads of them.. i did think it may be abit long to kill, but i thought that would add to the danger.. I dont like things to be too easy

I figured that out the otherday, Ill try to figure out something

Otherwise, good work. Keep it up.

Thanks for your advise

Tbh, 2-3 shots should be maximum, for a generic enemy, in CarlsenJeppes defense. Multiple shots doesnt equal harder difficulty.

I will try this level though. What is your PSN id?

I just played this and it's got some good things happening and some things that could be changed. It's a great concept for a level and you have some really cool touches like the red eyed skulls and driving on them (Like in the movie!) I also liked how you had the dog alert when a Terminator was coming up. Those are really clever touches and were nice to see.

The number of Terminators didn't bother me but having to spend the time to shoot them so many times did get a bit repetitive. I agree with dkjestrup on this one. You can have a few Terminators but if they are minor encounters under 5 shots would make for a better flow in the level. The bomb section was a bit tricky because you have bombs going off after the light has cleared the area. I'd have the bombs fall only where the light is - makes for an easier obstacle to overcome but it's your choice.

I liked your end boss too but it's so hard to see if you're hitting the right area from such a distance. Could you make the space it can move shorter so you can hear if the paint sensor is going on?

I know at this point it's hard to pick up the whole level from the floor once you've got it built but if you'd like to increase the polish of the level you may need to consider it. It's up to you - it's fun even though some parts aren't the most cleanly designed. I can see you learned a lot from building the level so I'm looking forward to future levels. Keep sharing them and make sure to make threads here in the level showcase so we know to come play them.

Thanks!

On the level touching the border, are you actually playing on it? I haven't got around to playing it yet, but if you are like, just inside the border but not actually on it, you could use camera zones?2009-04-04 22:35:00

It's flat on the floor of the level border. I don't think he has a support for it. He'd have to lift everything up to block it off.2009-04-04 22:42:00

Ahh... nvm, found it.

Feedback:

That's sad, no hearts. Heart the level yourself, otherwise people will think "3 star? no hearts? No thankyou!"

- Rubber and electricity look a bit ugly, try having moving pistons with blocks or something. I realise you cannot do much now though.

- When you fall, the rubber isn't straight. Redo it using the grid.

- Running and jumping over fire rates VERY low on my list of favourite things to do.

+ The music was nice

- Spelling and Grammer! "This aint good" Should be "This is probably not very good". Taking the time to make it proper is one way to make the level seem professional.

- You should attatch the terminal to a permanant switch (piece of dissolve with a mag key on it, and an inverted mag switch) that controls the door. Having it come down again makes it seem to lack polish. This would be what you do in some kind of temple level, where you're trying to make them hurry between obstacles, not when you simply have to walk foward.

- Wasn't sure where to shoot

+ dog was cool

- I could just run past the first terminator. Again, way to many HP

- Make the plasma dissolve later, atm it dissolves way to quickly, it is barely dangerous.

+ Terminator looked cool

- I could get so close it would never shoot me, easy win (2nd terminator)

- The bomb section was just a matter of fluking, at least from what I can tell

- Are the terminators made out of dissolve? Why not attatch the paint switch to a protected brain instead, and attatch it to a bomb inside the terminator.

- The running-on-flat-ground-behind-a-curtain-of-gecko-material-collecting-points was not fun

+ The truck part was cool

- The attack zone is too small. Why not take a look at NinjaMcWiz's "Hit Box" object in the object showcase?

- The boss was a simple dodge and shoot affair, problem was you couldn't see the boss 50% of the time, so you had no idea where the plasma would go. Also, why shoot the plasma on both planes, when the player is only using one to shoot from, it is distracting.

- The enemies had their back to me?

- I accidently jumped in the fireplace. Put a thin layer of glass infront

- The platform with the prizes wasn't glued down

played it, and one thing ive noticed with the gameplay. yours and my Metal Gear Karas level uses the cover system.

i think that the hitpoints for the terminators are just right since their terminators, they should be hard to kill anyway

but then again this is LBP so there'll be plenty that would think otherwise.

it also shows that this could be one of your first levels so the level design isnt very pretty. i may have said that but your level delivers its story well.

lol at the moving dog i rode it and we ended up like shish kabobs!

overall i gave you 3 stars and machinery, keep it up and dont rush into publishing, take your time and make everything look as good as you want it to be and dont ever say it looks good enough.

ill recommend you my F4F level so you may learn a thing or 2 on level design and perhaps logic gates (i said that cuz my switches are hidden). but i think you love action and mine has plenty to offer.

EDIT:

oh! oh! oh!

almost forgot... your tank looked cool but it was hard to appreciate it since its so huge it took you zooming out on your camera and putting it in a awkward angle.

make it smaller.

I did have a lift at first... And changed it, Ill see what ican do to make it better

At which part?

+ Terminator looked cool

- I could get so close it would never shoot me, easy win (2nd terminator)

On to it

- The bomb section was just a matter of fluking, at least from what I can tell

Could see why you think that with itbeing so quick. But i always run as soon as the last bomb towards you blows and then run

- Are the terminators made out of dissolve? Why not attatch the paint switch to a protected brain instead, and attatch it to a bomb inside the terminator.

They are metal, ill look into that.. But when bombs blow they leave stickers which adds to the thermometer... But as said, ill look into it.

- The running-on-flat-ground-behind-a-curtain-of-gecko-material-collecting-points was not fun

I didnt want people tosee wheels from thebig tank thing...

+ The truck part was cool

- The attack zone is too small. Why not take a look at NinjaMcWiz's "Hit Box" object in the object showcase?

Ill look into the cameras, I found that one place the bad guy was shooting from was abit boring. So added another.. It was shooting out bombs but as said its leave stickers once blown and level would be max so you wouldnt be able to shoot..So changed that to plasma

- The enemies had their back to me?

They were meant to be attacking the base, ill try and add a guy shooting at them.

- I accidently jumped in the fireplace. Put a thin layer of glass infront

Fireplace, where? The tvs?

- The platform with the prizes wasn't glued down

Thats because its a matress, lol.

Thanks for the input

I just played your level. I don't want to bring up to much of what people have said previously because you're obviously working on them points. I recognised the playground, nice touch. Hide your piston at the start of the base, it will make it look a lot better. Nice touch the barking dogs, I don't know whether or not you have fixed the terminator paint switches for hit points, but it seemed fine to me (it actually did get a little much towards the end). I liked the section with the jeep, a nice terminator touch, especially riding over the skulls!! I didnt get hit once, or really feel any danger at the tracked boss type thing (???). That big chunk of dissolve at the end is very ugly, attach a creature brain to some materials instead, activated by a proximity switch.

It was a good decent level that needs work in places, but it seems you are learning from the level from your posts, I'd like to see what you come up with next, make sure you post it here

*** and moody tag left.
