VIDEO AND PICTURES!!! TJB adventure part 1 - The Anti-Sackboy Industries

Archive: 19 posts

Hey, I made this sweet level: "TJB Adventure part 1", and it's pretty fun but pretty hard. This is my best level yet, I was trying to make it so it would have 4 or 5 stars and plenty of hearts, but it's rated lower than I would expect because I released it in it's early stages, then I updated it a lot. I would have replaced a checkpoint with a double-life one, but it was right inside myu tiny elevator, and I'm afraid I might mess something up if I replace it (EDIT: I detatched it and it worked just fine.) There are hidden prize bubbles all over the level, (HINT: one is behind one of the turrets) I might have made the elevator a bit too complicated, but it can confuse anyone I know when I show them the picture, even I get confused myself sometimes =P. I hope you enjoy plaing my level, and please heart, I am trying for the "Create" trophy. All feedback and in-game comments appreciated.

I wanted it to be a popular level that was 5/5 stars, so I worked very hard on it and I'm still working on it.
I hope you like it!!!

Will have to check this out asap. Have you got room to put an extra checkpoint beside the existing one to avoid ungluing everything? If not you could use a tiny one like I have on the paintinator platform in my 'Little Vista Raceway' level.

I got that from a level by Stephanie Ravens but you can make your own by capturing a checkpoint and then emitting it while making it smaller at the point it's emitted and keep repeating the process until it's as small as you want it So i've heard anyway, never actually tried it myself LOL.

I'm not sure if the one I have is shareable but if it is I'll send it to you if you add me to your friends list. I'll check later.

I know what you mean about messing something up though, I made a level called 'Metal Gear Solid : Ship Infiltration and Rescue' and one of the doors was sticking so I unglued it and the whole level and ship fell to pieces AARRGH!! was a nightmare to fix.

Played it and here's my feedback.

The level is too short and its not finished. I find it really nice tho, especially the first part of the level. Opening the door was pretty innovative (using an emitter to make it look like the door actually opened when you grabbed on it)

Its also pretty challenging for an LBP shooter type.

Overall, the level looks good but it doesnt deserve a heart since its not done.

You earned hearts in your LCD Counter and your Online Storage levels tho, because those were brilliant. You got an author heart too just for those good job!

Go ahead and have a go at the level in my sig.

I'll make it longer once sony sends me another ps3 (my blu-ray laser died) I've been planning on making a second boss to make up for the suckish one I made. I have plenty of thermo, so it'll work out pretty well.2009-04-15 01:50:00

OR you will remake your first boss better, wont you?

Always, always, revise a section after completion and ask yourself "Am I happy with this?"

If no, delete it and remake it.

I'm going to completely re-do the boss, atleast I will when I get my ps3 back from Sony...
My first boss sucks TOO bad...

Okaaaaay feedback time.

First off - level looks great
Though it is hard! The rocky bit took me a few level restarts. As did the tunnel with plasma rifles too. Though it was maybe a touch too difficult, i enjoyed it. The single firing machine after was a bit annoying, as i found i had to stand back to the camera wasn't on it but the plasmas wouldn't reach me so i could kill it. It was way too slow and boring popping in and out behind the wall. If you want it to be killed this method, only make it about 3 hit kill.

I loved seeing the dead sackboy, even though it messed with my eyes xD Very neat touch.

The boss after was okay, though with some work i think you could make it a bit more interesting

Then... it ended! I really didn't expect that... quite short. Though i did enjoy it And it is a level pleasing to the eyes

Overall - 4 stars

I played it a few nights ago and thought it had some cool stuff going on in it. I liked that the story was pretty vague - Go for a soda and end up fighting plasma hurling robots. Strange but interesting.

I liked the general look of your level to. Nice lighting and details. I thought that the mechanics all worked really well and your bots were nicely designed too.

Only problems/cons I had with the level is in the fire jumping area there are two jumps that are really tricky. Not a real problem but they might frustrate less competent platformer players. Also the boss, which you already have spoken about - is pretty easy. Really interesting design and I liked the stages but simple. I don't have any problem with an easy boss if the level as a whole is pretty easy - makes for better gameplay for new or less skilled players but the rest of the level has some tricky spots so it seemed out of place.

Overall a good level with potential if you get your station back to tweak it. I gave it 3 stars and tagged it good. Thanks for sharing it!

Thanks for the feedback
it means a lot to me.

I'll get to the F4F as soon as possible, but right now my ps3's dead so you'll have to wait.

Had a shot just now. Was over very quickly. I was surprised. Some parts look really good though.

The bits in the cave with the fire look good, but the camera angles are a hindrance. Often they obscure where you are jumping so you just jump and hope for the best. I made it through without dying but that was down to luck rather than any skill on my part.

The boss was rather irritating. Twice I died as I spawned because the missiles hit the checkpoint just I was coming out. Checkpoints should be shielded or out of the way to avoid this.

Those issues aside, it was pretty well made and had pretty high production values. If you continue to develop it after you get your PS3 back, you could well have a very good level there.

Yeah, I'm gonna make it way better when I get my PS3 back. I didn't fill very much of the thermo, I have 3/4 of the thermo filled. I'm going to completely re-do the boss, and I'm gonna explain where sackboy IS at the end.

I'm working on making it better, I deleted the other boss, replaced it with a new one, and I'm adding more obstacles. I also introduced the person behind Anti-Sackboy. I just got my ps3 back a few days ago. XD

EDIT: I published the beta version, it's right next to the other one, with the same icon and everything.

Tried this yesterday, and today. Finally got through it. Let me just say, personally I love a challenge, but there was one part in this that was super frustrating for me. I even think my blood pressure rose 3 notches. The part where you have the crushing blocks and the shuriken behind it. This part to me felt like a cheap death every time I died there. the only way I found through It would shoot me out and right into that shuriken. Other than that I thought it's a good solid level though. The part with opening the door was cool, and the visuals throughout are very good. One thing though. When the elevator falls sometimes that save door doesn't register. I don't know why this would happen, but when it does you get stuck up top and can't continue. All in all though it was a good experience. accept for the blood pressure thing.2009-05-08 22:23:00

I don't know why that happens, I hope MM fixes this. Whenever this happens to me, I left a TINY bit of wood to the right so you can just go right all the way, switch layers, and jump down.

Oh yeah, and do you have any level threads you want me to do F4F with?
Thanks for the feedback!!! I've waited a while for some more feedback.

You could emit a magic mouth when the player falls so if this happens you can explain how to get back down. If it doesn't malfunction then nobody will ever know it's even up there. all you have to do is shrink a thin layer of dark matter till it's almost invisible stick a magic mouth on it grab the whole thing with the popit and shrink it the rest of the way till the dark matter disappears, set the radius put the speech in and save it. then just throw a sensor switch down below somewhere and emit it with infinite life. That way if it does mess up people will know how to get down.

you could check out ( teleport to ????? ) if you like.
